When the Lord first started calling me to this Circuit Ride Mission back in 2016, I argued with Him about why He would choose a wretched sinner like me. I remember what I heard in refrain but did not receive it as it sounded pompous. “Because no one else will do this.” It was not that there were no other voices – Brother Paul, James Key, Russell Moore et al. – but no one would do it ‘quite like I would.’ Let me explain. By heritage, I am Hispanic, Jewish, and Scottish. I am given to passion as you all well know by now. I come from fervent, expressive people groups who feel things deeply and express them accordingly. In addition, I mentioned recently that some time I clearly heard the Spirit address me by the name, “Boanerges,” translated by most Greek scholars as a reference to the Sons of Zebedee, James and John, “Sons of thunder or commotion.” But no, I am not claiming to be an Apostle; God forbid it! To Clarify: I go directly to the Exhaustive Bible Concordance of JAMES STRONG (1890) who notes that “their passion and boldness in the past no doubt aptly fit their future calling.” HIS POINT. Beloved, this is not boast, I can assure you! I have complained to Him frequently about why He chose ‘to build me this way.’ Rather, it is a description and some spiritual defense of why indeed, I speak in less than hushed tones. It is wonderful that others are more measured; I envy them! But it is not appointed to me to be so. MY CALLING: ‘To warn His people of their grave errors.’ It is not for everyone, but it is for me, to the very best and most sincere effort to both understand it and execute it. May God help me! II. AN ERA OF FALSE TEACHERS Perhaps the most serious sin a Christian Pastor or Teacher can commit is to preach False Doctrine. I have before written a great deal about how much ‘God hates lying’! (cf. Proverbs 6:16-19). Most especially, beloved, when it comes from Pulpits in His own houses. CHRIST’S SEVERE WARNING. “Beware of false prophets, who come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ravenous wolves. You will know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes from thornbushes or figs from thistles? Even so, every good tree bears good fruit, but a bad tree bears bad fruit. A good tree cannot bear bad fruit, nor can a bad tree bear good fruit. Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire. SCRIPTURE. “‘Woe to the rebellious children,’ says the Lord, ‘who take counsel and carry out a plan, but not Mine, and who make a league and pour out a drink offering, but not of My Spirit, thus adding sin to sin.’” – ISAIAH 30:1, AMPC KEY TERM: “REBELLIOUS.” A root word meaning, ‘to be morally refractory;’ a revolter [or revolutionary], backslider, one who moves away [from the Law]; stubborn; withdraws [from legitimate authority]; forms dark alliances; performs improper sacrifices; worships ancestors; turn their shoulders to God; also describes an immoral woman [harlot, adulterer]; renouncing the authority and dominion of the government to which allegiance is due; traitorously resisting [proper] government or lawful authority.” Selah. JEFFERSON’S FOLLY. “‘I hold it that a little Rebellion now and then is a good thing,’ and as necessary in the political world as storms in the physical. Unsuccessful rebellions indeed generally establish the encroachments on the rights of the people which have produced them. An observation of this truth should render honest Republican governors so mild in their punishment of rebellions, as not to discourage them too much. SCRIPTURE. “Do I not hate them, O Lord, who hate You? And am I not grieved and do I not loathe those who rise up against You? I hate them with perfect hatred; they have become my enemies.” – PSALM 139:21-22, AMPC KEY TERM: “PERFECT HATRED.” ‘Sinah’ [שִׂנְאָה]: “‘To perfectly hate people or things;’ exceedingly hateful; hatred so intense and violent that it can lead to killing or dissension and unrest between people; also indicates sexual revulsion; utter comtempt [contextually, toward something or someone who is violently opposed to God]; profoundly odious; implicates punishment proportionate to the violation [cf. Lex Talionis]; God particularly hates those who love cruelty and wickedness, and those religious services of His own people when they are false and hypocritical [and He acts toward them accordingly, ‘as enemies!’].” QUOTATION. “God hates sin not just because it violates His Law but, more substantively, because ‘it violates Shalom,’ because it breaks the peace, because ‘it interferes with the way things are supposed to be.’” ― CORNELIUS PLATINGA, JR., Not the Way It's Supposed to Be: A Breviary of Sin, 1996; edited COMMENTARY. “‘Do not I hate them, O Lord, that hate Thee?’ - This is in the consciousness of the Psalmist a proof of his own real piety, as derived from his feelings ‘toward those who were the enemies of God.’ The word ‘hate’ here, as applied to them, must be understood in the sense that he [vehemently] disapproved of their conduct; that he did not desire to be associated with them; that he wished to avoid their society, and to find his friends among men of a different character … ‘And am not I grieved with those that rise up against Thee?’ - The expression here – ‘grieved’ - explains the meaning of the word ‘hate’ in the former member of the verse. It is not that hatred which is followed by malignity or ill-will; it is that which is accompanied with grief - pain of heart - pity – sorrow [and yes, ‘anger’]. So the Saviour looked on people: Mark 3:5 : ‘And when He had looked round about on them [the Pharisees] with “anger," being "grieved" for the hardness of their hearts.’ The Hebrew word used here, however, contains ‘also’ the idea of being disgusted with; of loathing; of nauseating … The feeling referred to is ‘anger’ - conscious disgust - at such conduct; and grief, pain, sorrow, that people should evince such feelings toward their Maker.” – ALBERT BARNES, Notes on the Old and New Testament, 1834, 1884; edited DK. But the impotent American Gospel has demanded that we never, ever become angry for any reason. Ever! Leaving us as ‘Doctrinal Eunuchs,’ beloved, and nothing less. Selah. II. THE LOST CANON Consequently, I was deeply grateful to the Lord for leading me to this, as you and I are in a desperate struggle to deal with a most profound and wholly justifiable ‘Outrage’ at what the Church has done by her treachery against Christ – and us all. We have indeed been taught for generations that we are never, ever to hate anyone or anything. Such false teaching from our timid pulpits and ‘makes God a Liar,’ therefore constituting one of the most serious heresies in Church history. And it is rampant, beloved! Thus, we turn to WILLIAM MACDONALD’S superb review of the ‘things’ and the ‘people,’ again, that God hates, or utterly despises (Believer’s Bible Commentary, 1995, p. 806; edited). PROVERBS 6:16 (NKJV). “These six things the Lord hates, indeed, seven are an abomination to Him” (cf. vv. 17-19). The tongue of Aaron, with the head and heart of Moses, would make one completely fit for this errand. God promises, ‘I will be with thy mouth,’ and with his mouth. FIRST THOUGHTS It has been said by many wise people over the generations that ‘the best leaders are the ones who do not want the job.’ Moses was, by that standard, a most brilliant choice by God to be His historic Messenger who would deliver The Law of God to all Humanity. While I am certainly no Moses, put me at the head of that class, beloved. Doing what I do today was the very last thing I had ever desired as one who has always ‘loved Truth,’ but who also ‘loved the approval’ of the leaders of my disciplines. To the extent that it very nearly became idolatry as I too often trembled before my audiences, wanting far too shamelessly to please ‘them’ more than God. ‘No longer!’ Through a thousand errors and accommodations and frights over three decades, God has implanted in me an aggressive desire, indeed, a veritable ‘Fire for His Truth.’ It’s been there for a long time but was covered up by spiritual pollution and my shameful fear of men. Too, I cannot say it is all His Fire, since my temperament is often a challenge for me when I see the abominations of His Name and Words taking place every day in our many Churches. One of the most ancient of Capitols in the world, in some competition with Damascus for that unique honor depending on which archeological authority you choose to believe. City of Mystery, among other things Home to the Three Great Religions of the world – Judaism, Christianity, and Islam. And sadly, the historical Flashpoint of innumerable wars of conquest and defense for millennia. In one of the most fascinating accounts of the Origins of Jerusalem we must travel some 4,000 years in time to a nearly prehistoric place referenced as “SALEM.” Here is one brief summary of that place and its central figure, an equally mysterious King named MELCHIZEDEK. “Melchizedek [מַלְכִּי־צֶדֶק, or, ‘King of Righteousness’]: In the Hebrew Bible (Old Testament), was a figure of importance in Biblical Tradition because he was both King and Priest [of ‘El Elyon’], was connected with Jerusalem, and was revered by ABRAHAM, who paid a tithe to him. He appears as a person only in an interpolated vignette (Genesis 14:18-20) of the Story of Abraham rescuing his kidnapped nephew, Lot, by defeating a coalition of Mesopotamian kings under CHEDORLAOMER.” – Editors, Britannica, updated Mar. 25, 2024; edited Yet this ancient personage remains shrouded in nearly preternatural Judeo-Christian Legend, though there was in fact an historical place and person by these designations. Still, still, The Question roars through the halls of history: ‘Who was this man?’ One of the most inviting introductions to that Question was presented by ALISTAIR BEGG in a Sermon devoted to addressing it, entitled: “The Mystery of Melchizedek: Part One” (Mar. 9, 1997; edited). “The real burning question in coming to this section of Holy Scripture is, ‘Who is this mysterious figure called Melchizedek?’ Who is this man, this shadowy chap, who has been introduced in [Hebrews] 5:10, referred to once again in 6:20. And the answers that have been provided throughout the years are many and varied. For example, if you read Commentaries, you will discover that there are those who say that Melchizedek was a personification of the third member of the Trinity—namely, the Holy Spirit. There are others who believe that he was a divine virtue, with dramatic powers greater even than the powers of Christ. We can certainly x that one out. Others have suggested that he was simply an angel. And others—and quite a number of others—have proclaimed the fact that Melchizedek was nothing other than a Preincarnate appearance of the Son of God.” The reason I spent a little time with this ancient King was that it sets up the uniquely rich ‘Root System of Jerusalem’ before its official designation as the City of David a thousand years later around 1,000 BC. MESSIAH’S LAMENT. Then the next thing that came to mind as I began to ponder this brief passage was the Cry of Jesus Himself over this important City, His City, that day so long ago: “O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, who murders the prophets and stones [to death] those [messengers] who are sent to her [by God]! How often I wanted to gather your children together [around Me], as a hen gathers her chicks under her wings, and you were unwilling. Listen carefully: ‘your house is being left to you desolate [completely abandoned by God and destitute of His protection]!’” – MATTHEW 23:37-38, AMP As if in tragic Prophetic fulfillment of His Lamentation, the description of the City some 1,800 years later by MARK TWAIN in his classic, Innocents Abroad (1869) wrote this: “Of all the lands there are for Dismal Scenery, I think Palestine must be the prince … Renowned Jerusalem itself, the stateliest name in history, has lost all its ancient grandeur, and is become a pauper village; the riches of Solomon are no longer there to compel the admiration of visiting Oriental queens; the wonderful temple which was the pride and the glory of Israel, is gone … Palestine is desolate and unlovely. And why should it be otherwise? … Palestine is no more of this work-day world. It is sacred to poetry and tradition — ‘It is Dream Land’” (Chapter 56; edited). Note. These clearly Prophetic Sayings are in many ways an Insignia for the Last Times Church, beloved. (Selah). Yet Jerusalem in whatever iteration remains for all Divine Intents and Purposes the very CENTER OF THE WORLD. PRÉCIS ON THE HONOR OF DYING TO SELF: SPIRITUALLY AND PHYSICALLY SCRIPTURE. “Precious [and of great consequence] in the sight of the LORD is the death of His godly ones [so He watches over them].” – PSALM 116:15, AMP KEY TERM: “PRECIOUS.” ‘Yaqar’ [יָקָר]: “From a primitive root meaning, ‘To be heavy, rare, or greatly prized;’ [enormously] valuable; costly, excellent, and honorable [impacting one’s reputation]; splendid, weighty; highly valued as with precious stones (gold, silver or rubies); indices of choice character.” QUOTATION. “Those things which are precious are saved only by ‘Sacrifice.’” ― DAVID KENYON WEBSTER, Parachute Infantry: An American Paratrooper's Memoir of D-Day and the Fall of the Third Reich, 2008; edited COMMENTARY. “‘Precious, &c., is the death of his saints’ — He sets a high price upon it: He will not easily grant it to the will of their enemies. If any son of violence procure it, He will make him pay very dearly for it. And when the saints suffer it for God’s sake, as they frequently do, it is a most acceptable sacrifice to Him, and highly esteemed by Him. This time I will cut to the acutely painful chase. I just got wind that presumptive Republican presidential nominee DONALD TRUMP is now selling Bibles to raise funds for his mounting legal bills. Calls it “The God Bless the USA Bible,” and it is replete with America’s Founding Documents (The Declaration, The Constitution, The Bill of Rights, The Pledge of Allegiance). Sells for $59.95 and is pitched as the thing every “Christian Patriot” needs to do. “So what’s wrong with that, Dr. Kelly?” My friends, if you have to even ask that question, you are quite likely irretrievably lost. Lost. From its towering, blasphemous hubris to dare to join the Sacred (the Word of God) with the Profane (the world of Politics), to its shameless motive to profit from the sacrilege of using God for that purpose, to its abominable presumption of twisting the principles of Romans 13 so far out of shape that its subverts the entire Biblical Canon, this sin is the height of ‘Mockery of the Godhead!’ THE GREATER SIN. But the far graver, spiritually violent offense here is the unmitigated ‘Silence of the American Church!’ This entire lesson is all about the Honor of Dying to Self, including the experiences of suffering persecution for obeying Jesus Christ and even the possibility of being martyred for one’s commitment to Him. Yet this is the total ‘Opposite’ of the entirety of the Biblical Canon! ‘America and her Church are in nearly Catastrophic Freefall,’ by her own horrendous, idolatrous choices. She shall begin to reap the full, brutal harvest of those decisions should we compound the sin by reelecting Mr. Trump to what shall surely become the Last Presidential Election in all our history. The malevolent Heritage Foundation’s ‘Project 2025’ is being prepped to set fire to all those documents in Trump’s hideous Bible starting on Day One, January 20, 2025, when the former president confessed boldly to Sean Hannity last month that he will be “Dictator … but only for the first day.” PASTORS. SCRIPTURE. “You were running [the race] well; ‘who has interfered and prevented you from obeying the truth?’ This [deceptive] persuasion is not from Him who called you [to freedom in Christ]. ‘A little leaven [a slight inclination to error, or a few false teachers] leavens the whole batch [it perverts the concept of faith and misleads the church].’ I have confidence in you in the Lord that you will adopt no other view [contrary to mine on the matter]; but the one who is disturbing you, whoever he is, will have to bear the penalty.” ― GALATIANS 5:7-10, AMP I. FIRST THOUGHTS A powerful idea that I cannot seem to get out of my mind as I watch the American Debacle of the last seven years is: ‘How little the Church appears to take God seriously.’ Whether I visit a moderate to large (Mega) assembly around the city, or watch some of the many Sunday services online, I get the same empty discernment, often expressed out loud to God: “This is play-acting, Lord!” And for this old Christian soldier, that is precisely what it is. Lots of fancy stories and pretty talk, much laughter, plus clever anecdotes to engage the audience, and endless surface level preaching on Scriptures that I have heard taught for decades before. Familiar passages. Safe ones mostly, you know, to encourage the folks with warm and fuzzy phrases and clichés. Make ‘em feel good on their way home so that they’ll come back next week. But never, ever, ever a ‘sobering application’ to the Spiritual Chaos going on just outside the doors and windows of the building. I mean, never, beloved! Much too risky, far too controversial. Stuff that would upset the Fragile Bubble that so many Pastors have built for their congregations to insulate them from the angry world outside, to convince everyone that everything is going to be okay. ‘After all, folks, this is America!’ TAKING GOD SERIOUSLY. Now don’t get me wrong in this next section: Jesus Christ has indeed become my very dearest and priceless Friend. But, beloved, He is not my ‘Pal’ or my ‘Buddy’ or ‘The Big Man in the Sky’ as we too often think of and use those terms in everyday life, who exists to love me and bless me beyond my wildest imagination. In fact, the Biblical definition of “Friend” is defined every so precisely by Jesus Christ Himself. “You are My friends if you ‘do’ whatever I command you.” – JOHN 15:14, NKJV Con acento en la palabra, "¡Comando!" The Greek term for “friend” in that passage is, ‘philos’ [φίλος]: “Someone ‘dearly loved’ (prized) in a personal, intimate way whom you wish to please; a ‘trusted confidant,’ held in a close bond of personal affection.” DK. But here’s the rub, and the point of my comments: ‘Jesus is vastly more than our Friend.’ ‘He is also our King, and our Sovereign, our mighty God and our Dread Champion whom we uniquely fear and adore and worship.’ A favorite teacher of mine from my past days is DEREK PRINCE, who addressed this idea in the following brief commentary. “Recently, while meditating on various definitions of faith, I came up with my own: ‘Faith is taking God seriously.’ This was the result of encountering so many Christians who claimed to have faith but did not take God seriously. ‘To take God seriously means to take His Word seriously!’ If a person speaks to us, but we ignore - or even reject - much of what he says to us, we certainly are not taking him seriously. In fact, we are guilty of disrespect. ‘The same applies to God.’ If we ignore or reject much of what He says to us through the Scriptures, we are not taking Him seriously. We are, in fact, treating Him with disrespect. Yet this is how many Christians are relating to God. They treat His Word like a smorgasbord, picking out those portions that appeal to their taste and passing the others by.” – “Taking God Seriously,” Derek Prince Ministries, ret. Mar. 19, 2024; edited MY POINT. I get the strong impression these days that the majority of American Pastors do in fact, not take His Word seriously, and here’s why. If they did, they would be teaching ‘a Balanced Menu’ of loving encouragement alongside the blood and thunder of the Last Days roaring just outside – and how to Biblically prepare for it. What British theologian and C. S. Lewis-mentored theologian HARRY BLALMIRES once called the ‘Rich Red Meat’ of the Gospel (The Christian Mind, 1963). So, let’s get down to the brass tacks of this Era of Dilution of the Truth of the Scriptures, and where it is rapidly, perilously taking us.
