NOTES ON AMERICA, APARTHEID, & THE APOCALYPSE: WHAT 30 DAYS AND 11K MILES TAUGHT ME ABOUT DONALD TRUMP’S FOURTH REICH – (WITH VIDEO)
- PRELUDE.
It was around the year of 1990 or so when a Regent University professor of Law and Government GARY AMOS said, “You don’t know anything, Cliff!” and then offered a Challenge for my then upcoming Sabbatical Leave Project:
“You need to read every Pre-Founding Document influencing the political philosophy of the United States of America since the historic Magna Carta of 1215.”
Never one to turn down a reasonable and potentially fruitful dare, I plunged into ‘The Project,’ reading such milestones as: The English Bill of Rights (1688); Algernon Sidney’s Discourses Concerning Government (1698); the First Virginia Charter (1606); sections of John Locke’s Two Treatises of Government (1689), Spirit of the Laws by Montesquieu (1748), Sir William Blackstone’s classic Commentaries on the Laws of England (1765, 1769); the Founding Charters of all Thirteen American Colonies; and of course, the Declaration of Independence (1776), and the United States Constitution (1789).
Significantly, I never fully read The Federalist Papers (1788) because, beloved, for some reason I could not make head nor tails of the 85 formative essays by Hamilton, Madison, and Jay. I had no issues at all with the other documents. DR. HERB TITUS, my mentor at that time and dean of the Regent University School of Public Policy and later the Robertson School of Law quipped:
“Well Cliff, of course you could not understand them; they were written for the common farmer of that day.” Selah.
In any event, these brilliant Treatises – for that is precisely what they are – provided me with early evidence that the American Founding was filled to the gunnels with rich Judeo-Christian Legacy. But I would later discover that this First View of mine was absent a Critical Element vital to a proper interpretation of our Religious Roots in my current Second View:
INTEGRITY. “The entire, unimpaired state of any thing, particularly of the mind; moral soundness or purity; incorruptness; uprightness; honesty. ‘Integrity’ comprehends the whole moral character, but has a special reference to uprightness in mutual dealings, transfers of property, and agencies for others.” – NOAH WEBSTER, American Dictionary of the English Language, 1828; edited
Permit me to explain. A simpler rendering of the central Ideas of Character and Integrity presumes: ‘What one says or writes shall always be in correspondence with what one actually says or does in life.’
This in turn is based in the rich soil of a thoroughly Biblical understanding of TRUTH: “In a theological context, the Correspondence Theory of Truth posits that a statement or belief is true if it accurately reflects or corresponds to a fact or state of affairs in Reality, as understood through Divine Revelation and God’s established Order.”– AI Overview, June 29, 2025; edited
THESIS. ‘America’s Founding was based on both a Judeo-Christian ANDEuropean Enlightenment political philosophies (as over against a singularly ‘Christian’ theology). In actual PRACTICE however, America was never able to live up to these Syncretistic Founding Charters. Thus, it was rooted in Truth but repeatedly violated those Charters with respect to Slavery, Native American practice, Mexico, and the integration of Religious Orthodoxy with the widespread practice of Freemasonry.
- THE LIE. Therefore our very Origins were despoiled by a ‘Fouled Root System,’ but we have all been taught since childhood that such Founding was nearly perfectly virtuous, and thoroughly Christian.Beloved, this has never been the case, though we have as both a Religious and Secular Nation convinced ourselves since our Founding that we were what we in Spiritual and Political fact, were not. Not ever!
- THE THEOLOGY. “And as you saw the feet and toes, partly of potter’s clay and partly of iron, it will be a divided kingdom; but there will be in it some of the durability and strength of iron, just as you saw the iron mixed with common clay. As the [ten] toes of the feet were partly of iron and partly of clay, so some of the kingdom will be strong, and another part of it will be brittle. And as you saw the iron mixed with common clay, so they will combine with one another in the seed of men; but they will not merge [for such diverse things or ideologies cannot unite], even as iron does not mix with clay.” – DANIEL 2:41-43, AMP
- THE CONSEQUENCES. This False Narrative systematically explains why we justified the policy and practice the barbaric Slavery of Africans, the Genocide of Native peoples, the violent Conquest of half of Mexico under the guise of a false providence of ‘Manifest Destiny.’ This ‘Mixture’ of cultural fables and myths then evolved over the centuries eventually leading to our Present Hour: What I shall continue to argue is nothing less than:
The Fourth Reich of President Donald Trump.
“For they sow the wind and they shall reap the whirlwind. The standing grain has no heads; it shall yield no meal; if it were to yield, strangers and aliens would eat it up.” – HOSEA 8:7, AMPC

II. DE TOQUEVILLE AND DR. KELLY
Whether justified or not, at several points along the Road of Circuit Ride VII, visions of French political scientist ALEXIS DE TOQUEVILLE flashed before me many times.
For those not familiar with this unique early observer of the American Experiment: After some nine months spent touring the then young Nation to see what made us so unique. He chronicled what he found in a two-volume magnum opus, Democracy in America (1835, 1840; edited). This work was also on my Sabbatical ‘must read’ list.
Interpreted by the Religious Right as the singular Masterwork of justifying a supremely morally virtuous nation viz. its ostensible Judeo-Christian Root System, Toqueville’s actual view of America was vastly more complex than that. ‘And truthful!’ He did often refer to the Christian Religion as a cornerstone of national order and strength, but he also explored in detail the Inconsistencies and serious Divides in our Nation even in its earliest years.
That is to say: We have been this way for a very, very long time indeed.
FIRST CAUSES. Here I turn to the superb scholarship of a Phi Beta Kappa and Summa Cum Laude graduate of the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in Political Science and Economics, ANDREW LAWRENCE CROWN. He also holds a Master of Arts in political science from The University of Chicago, and he has been teaching English, history, political science, law, writing, education, and other subjects at both the high school and college levels for twenty-six years.
He Writes (and I quote at considerable length due to its powerfully corrective message).
“Tocqueville devoted a considerable amount of writing to the consideration of the then present state and probable Future of the Three Races inhabiting the territory of the United States in the early nineteenth century, the period during which Tocqueville visited and wrote about America. While in Europe at that time in history, most countries were composed of people derived from the same stock, the people scattered over the vast American territory were not derived from the same national or racial origins. ‘In the United States, there were three naturally distinct races whose relations with one another were characterized by a deep sense of hostility’ (p. 316).
Tocqueville referred to these three races using the terminology common in the era in which he wrote. While most likely viewed as insensitive or even insulting today, in this essay I utilize much of the same terminology employed by Tocqueville, in order to preserve as much of the spirit and character of his analysis as possible, while I write about it almost two hundred years after the fact. Today it is polite and proper to use the terms, Blacks or African-Americans, Native Americans, and Caucasians, but in the analysis which follows, I will use the antiquated terms employed by Tocqueville, those being mainly Negroes, Indians, and Whites.
According to Tocqueville, Education, Law, Origin, and External Features raised almost Insurmountable Barriers between these races. While chance, history, and the intentional policies of governments and men brought them together on the same soil, the three races in America had mixed without combining, leaving each to follow a distinct Destiny (p. 317). ‘For the Whites, the European people par excellence, there was enlightenment, power, and happiness, but for the Negroes and Indians, only an unhappy status and reality far below that of the White race. Negroes and Indians were two unlucky peoples which had neither birth, physique, language, nor mores in common, but their misfortunes made them alike in suffering and unhappiness.’ Both Negroes and Indians occupied an equally inferior position in the land where they dwelled, both suffered from the pernicious effects of White tyranny, and though the nature and character of their afflictions were different, they both had the same people to blame for them (p. 317).
The relationship between the Europeans and the Negroes and Indians, which was forced upon these unfortunate peoples by violence, was analogous to the relationship between men and animals. The Whites forced the Negroes and Indians to serve their convenience, and when they could not bend them to their will, the Whites destroyed them (p. 317).” – “Noble Savages and Barbarized Slaves: Tocqueville on Native Americans and African-Americans in Democracy in America,” The Voegelin View, Aug. 10, 2021; edited
THEOLOGICAL MITIGATION. From this incisive dose of Historical Reality fired over the historian’s bow, de Toqueville virtually shreds the American Mythos of our being this “City on a Hill” we have all been persuaded, indeed, propagandized to believe since our Founding’s at St. Augustine (1565), Jamestown (1607) and Plymouth (1620).
Thus it is that I ‘heard’ SEVEN SCRIPTURES that were downloaded to me while traveling in rough chronology, from May 28 through June 27 – Thirty Days and 11,177.7 miles. They constitute the further Foundations this essay: From a Critique to a Call to Obedience regarding what America has become under the Trump Tyranny.
I shall not interpret them but simply read them in Chronological Order for our immediate considerations and later Observations in my own Toquevillian Redux about what I see as: “THE AMERICAN SOUL IN 2025.”
- ISAIAH 33:1-3: “Woe to you, O destroyer, you who were not yourself destroyed, who deal treacherously though they [your victims] did not deal treacherously with you! When you have ceased to destroy, you will be destroyed; and when you have stopped dealing treacherously, they will deal treacherously with you. O Lord, be gracious to us; we have waited [expectantly] for You. Be the arm [of Your servants—their strength and defense] every morning, our salvation in the time of trouble. At the noise of the tumult [caused by Your voice at which the enemy is overthrown], the peoples flee; at the lifting up of Yourself, nations are scattered.”
- MATTHEW 12:31-32. “Therefore I tell you, every sin and blasphemy (every evil, abusive, injurious speaking, or indignity against sacred things) can be forgiven men, but blasphemy against the [Holy] Spirit shall not and cannot be forgiven. And whoever speaks a word against the Son of Man will be forgiven, but whoever speaks against the Spirit, the Holy One, will not be forgiven, either in this world and age or in the world and age to come.”
- EZEKIEL 33:1-6. “And the word of the Lord came to me, saying, ‘Son of man, speak to your people [the Israelite captives in Babylon] and say to them, When I bring the sword upon a land and the people of the land take a man from among them and make him their watchman, If when he sees the sword coming upon the land, he blows the trumpet and warns the people, Then whoever hears the sound of the trumpet and does not take warning, and the sword comes and takes him away, his blood shall be upon his own head. He heard the sound of the trumpet and did not take warning; his blood shall be upon himself. But he who takes warning shall save his life. But if the watchman sees the sword coming and does not blow the trumpet and the people are not warned, and the sword comes and takes any one of them, he is taken away in and for his perversity and iniquity, but his blood will I require at the watchman’s hand.’”
- ISAIAH 29:1-7. “Woe to Ariel [Jerusalem], to Ariel, the city where David encamped! Add yet another year; let the feasts run their round [but only one year more]. Then will I distress Ariel; and there shall be mourning and lamentation, yet she shall be to Me like an Ariel [an altar hearth, a hearth of burning, the altar of God]. And I will encamp against you round about; and I will hem you in with siege works and I will set up fortifications against you. And you shall be laid low [Jerusalem], speaking from beneath the ground, and your speech shall come humbly from the dust. And your voice shall be like that of a ghost [produced by a medium] coming from the earth, and your speech shall whisper and squeak as it chatters from the dust. But the multitude of your [enemy] strangers that assail you shall be like small dust, and the multitude of the ruthless and terrible ones like chaff that blows away. And in an instant, suddenly, You shall be visited and delivered by the Lord of hosts with thunder and earthquake and great noise, with whirlwind and tempest and the flame of a devouring fire. And the multitude of all the nations that fight against Ariel [Jerusalem], even all that fight against her and her stronghold and that distress her, shall be as a dream, a vision of the night.”
- REVELATION 6:3-4. “And when He broke the second seal, I heard the second living creature call out, ‘Come!’ And another horse came out, flaming red. And its rider was empowered to take the peace from the earth, so that men slaughtered one another; and he was given a huge sword.”
- JAMES 1:4, 12. “But let endurance and steadfastness and patience have full play and do a thorough work, so that you may be [people] perfectly and fully developed [with no defects], lacking in nothing … Blessed (happy, to be envied) is the man who is patient under trial and stands up under temptation, for when he has stood the test and been approved, he will receive [the victor’s] crown of life which God has promised to those who [truly] love Him.”
- 1 CORINTHIANS 9:24. “Do you not know that in a race all the runners compete, but [only] one receives the prize? So run [your race] that you may lay hold [of the prize] and make it yours.”
III. SEVEN IMPRESSIONS OF THE AMERICAN SOUL (NKJV)
- AMERICA IS AT PLAY. Except for the destitute, the homeless, and minorities, I saw pretty much everyone else having a great time, going on with life as usual. Just as in the Days of Noah and Lot. – “But as the days of Noah were, so also will the coming of the Son of Man be. For as in the days before the flood, they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noah entered the ark, and did not know until the flood came and took them all away, so also will the coming of the Son of Man be. Then two men will be in the field: one will be taken and the other left.” – MATTHEW 24:37-40
- AMERICA IS DELUSIONAL. In this same regard, Americans are simply, utterly blind to the Real Crisis surrounding them. Both Christians and Seculars, the young and the old (though the young have a better sense of something being very wrong), nice folks and no so nice folks. ‘Oblivion’ might be the best term to describe this widespread State of Slumber. – “And for this reason God will send them strong delusion, that they should believe the lie, that they all may be condemned who did not believe the truth but had pleasure in unrighteousness.” – 2 THESSSALONIANS 2:11-12
- AMERICA IS PROUD. Perhaps the overwhelming discernment in my long travels was the sense of Hubris and Entitlement. This was especially apparent among White males of all ages. The younger women not so much and virtually absent from people of color or the poor of any race or economic condition. I believe this to be the Defining Spirit of America’s ongoing invitation for Judgment. – “Or do you think that the Scripture says in vain, ‘The Spirit who dwells in us yearns jealously?’ But He gives more grace. Therefore He says: ‘God resists the proud, But gives grace to the humble.’” – JAMES 4:5-7
- AMERICA IS DIVIDED. To state what is obvious to most if not all of us, we are a Deeply divided nation today, with people’s great fear to speak publicly about their beliefs if they do not belong to the Trump Tribalism. Each time I began to share my views of Trump, a virtual cold chill entered the conversation quickly. Again however, not so with virtually all younger Americans and people of color and the poor. – “But Jesus knew their thoughts, and said to them: ‘Every kingdom divided against itself is brought to desolation, and every city or house divided against itself will not stand.’” – MATTHEW 12:25
- AMERICA IS RELIGIOUS. I cannot honestly say I ever ran into a bona fide Atheist anywhere in all those days. Rather, I would propose that the majority of our country is a cross between Deism and Mysticism. The First exemplified by many of our older adults, especially in the Church; the Second displayed by many of our young people searching for “Spirituality” in all the wrong places. – “Then many false prophets will rise up and deceive many. And because lawlessness will abound, the love of many will grow cold.” – MATTHEW 24:11-12
- AMERICA IS GREEDY. I have come to call them, “Mansions in the Sky,” these amazing houses that Americans seem to be obsessed in purchasing and nearly worshiping all their days by investment, labor, and pride of ownership. As in a widespread form of Idolatry. And of course: The bigger the better! InJewish and Native American tradition, interestingly, the people do not own land but rather the people belong to the Land! Property law developed from ancient times to the present, but you will not find a Biblical command or rationale for personal ownership. Selah. – “No one can serve two masters; for either he will hate the one and love the other, or else he will be loyal to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and mammon.” – MATTHEW 6:24
- AMERICA IS DESTINED FOR DESTRUCTION. In dramatic contrast to all that I have been taught about the United States of America being the greatest nation ever created in the entire history of the human race, I strongly, vehemently disagree. We are increasingly referred to as “BABYLON THE GREAT” bya growing, though still small, number of Bible scholars.
IN SUM. I believe we have been lying to God, lying to the nations, and lying to ourselves since our very Founding. We have, led by the White Church, played ‘The Harlot’ to the entire world for far too long, and without Repentance!
Therefore, I now believe with all my heart and soul that God is finished with America. There is nothing left to salvage, save for an empty husk of what she has pretended to be for centuries.
“Alas, alas for the great city that was robed in fine linen, in purple and scarlet, bedecked and glittering with gold, with precious stones, and with pearls! Because in one [single] hour all the vast wealth has been destroyed (wiped out). And all ship captains and pilots, navigators and all who live by seafaring, the crews and all who ply their trade on the sea, stood a long way off, And exclaimed as they watched the smoke of her burning, What city could be compared to the great city!” – REVELATION 18:16-18
IV. HOW SHOULD WE THEN LIVE?
That Question comes directly from the remarkable work of DR. FRANCIS SCHAEFFER and the publication of his now classic book published in 1976. His Answer: “Speak the Truth in Love” (EPHESIANS 4:15). “Truth carries with it confrontation. Truth demands confrontation; loving confrontation, but confrontation nevertheless.” ― The Great Evangelical Disaster, 1984; edited
And that’s pretty much it, dear friends – A few things I learned along the American Road on that, my last time out (save for a few shorter jaunts as needed). So do I dedicate this Last Days Pleading for Truth and Love first and foremost on behalf of our mighty King, JESUS BEN DAVID AND THE REMNANT – ‘His True Ones’ so beset by hostility.
And one more very special group.
PRECIOUS STANGERS I met along The Trail, including:
- Aaron: The young homeless man.
- Devon: The stately Black man searching for answers.
- GraceLynne: The 17-year-old barista who just “Loves Jesus!”
- Shaunda: The African American hotel manager who rescued a boy walking barefoot in the snow.
- Tony: The mixed-race motel desk attendant who was so full of life.
- Mike: The post office clerk who had just attended his first No King event.
- Bea: The grateful hippy girl who I helped jump start her old classic truck.
- Addie: My precious little 10-year-old, celebrating her birthday with her mom.
- Daniel: The Hispanic gas station attendant eager to view my videos.
- “Justin.” The 50+ year old Black doorman to my son’s apartment with a young son.
CODA. How shall we then live, beloved? IN THIS WAY: “When all has been heard, the end of the matter is: Fear God [worship Him with awe-filled reverence, knowing that He is almighty God] and keep His commandments, for this applies to every person.” – ECCLESIASTES 12:13, AMP
These are the very Words of our living, vibrant Pearl of Great Price, beloved. Let all that we think and do and say from this day forward count for His Kingdom, planting sacred seeds for a Harvest we may or may not see.
Donald Trump may own America, beloved, but he does not own us! Selah. Selah.
