FOOTNOTE ON THE AMERICAN PRIESTHOOD: GOD’S FINAL WORD TO HIS REBELLIOUS HOUSE

SCRIPTURE. “You have wearied the Lord with your words. Yet you say, ‘In what way have we wearied Him?’ [You do it when by your actions] you say, ‘Everyone who does evil is good in the sight of the Lord and He delights in them.’ Or [by asking], ‘Where is the God of justice?’” – MALACHI 2:17, AMP

QUOTATIONS

“How all my brain was in tumult, and all my heart in Insurrection! Yet in what darkness, what dense ignorance, was the mental battle fought!” – CHARLOTTE BRONTË, ‘Jane Eyre: An Autobiography,’ 1847; edited

“The Provisional Government had lost effective military control of the Capitol a full two days before the armed uprising began. This was the essential fact of the whole Insurrection: Without it one cannot explain the ease of the Bolshevik victory.” – ORLANDO FIGES, ‘A People’s Tragedy: The Russian Revolution, 1891 – 1924,’ 1998; edited

“The attacks on the US capitol on January 6th, 2021, will have ripple effects for years to come. We’re no longer in the September 11th Era. We’re now in the January 6th Era … The MAGA Death Cult is an army of bio-terrorist suicide bombers. Instead of explosive vests, they carried a deadly virus into Congress on January 6th.” – OLIVER MARKUS MALLOY, Author of ‘American Fascism: A German Writer’s Urgent Warning to America,’ 2019; edited

INSURRECTION. “‘A Rising Against’ civil or political authority; the open and active opposition of a number of persons to the execution of a law in a city or state. It is equivalent to Sedition, except that Sedition expresses a less extensive rising of citizens … ‘Insurrection’ is however used with such latitude as to comprehend either Sedition or Rebellion. – NOAH WEBSTER, ‘American Dictionary of the English Language,’ 1828; edited

THESIS. This is the ‘Defiant Spirit’ of the majority of the American Church today, whether or not it realizes it. It is, therefore, in Sustained Insurrection against the Godhead.

  1. FIRST THOUGHTS

I have argued rather aggressively that what I consider to be ‘The Christian Insurrection’ of January 6, 2021 in the Capitol, was more than historic. The more accurate term would be: EPOCHAL:

“Pertaining to an Epoch or an Era; a history making event; extremely important, significant, or influential.”

Permit me to make this sharpened point by an old persuasion strategy we studied in graduate school known as, ‘Counterattitudinal Advocacy:’ This is the counterintuitive strategy of knocking down a position one opposes by quoting or stating that position in its affirmative.

Y’all with me? Now to the case study as illustration.

AMERICAN UN-THINKER. One of the most important journals on the Conservative Right just a few years ago was ‘American Thinker,’ a source I cited often in my 2017 book on political eschatology. But oh my, what a difference a few years and a corrupt president can make.

This is how they now construe the political universe in a representative piece by writer DAVID ZUKERMAN, a member to the AT stable of analysts, as well as ‘Jewish Voice,’ an ostensible Sephardic conservative publication based in New York.

FOONOTE 1. Could not find a scintilla of bio information on Zukerman on the Internet. Nada. That said, here’s what he recently wrote about the Insurrection.

“Hundreds, yes hundreds of Trump-supporters at the Capitol have been held for seven months without trial.  Other than a timid protest by a few conservative House Republicans, this writer is unaware of demands that these ‘political detainees’ — how otherwise to explain their detention by Biden’s attorney general Garland (and thank the Almighty he was not put on the Supreme Court) — be given a fair and speedy trial?” – ‘American Thinker,’ August 12, 2021; edited

You getting this, beloved? One of the leading intellectual shapers of conservative opinion in America has gone fully rogue.  And you can stretch that soiled cloth across nearly the entire Christian publication world, with a few, precious and besieged exceptions (Christianity Today, Christian Post, The Bulwark).

FOOTNOTE 2. In my struggle to get a revised version of ‘The Sixth Seal’ (2017) published next year, one major publisher gave me this reason for rejecting the manuscript: “Well, the content of your book would upset the rest of our [Christian] writers.”

Another publisher told me that he had ‘more important’ writers to service, so I’d have to wait. I shut ‘em down with a tersely worded, but professional, letter. We have a saying in my household:

No one in this family shall ever grovel [before men].’

THE BATTLE FOR TRUTH. At least three books have been published in the last several years that have rightly squared off on the real nature, the Core of our Struggle in American Christianity today.

  • D.A. CARSON.  ‘Telling the Truth: Evangelizing Postmoderns’ (2000). “This book is a compilation of thoughts and strategies from twenty-nine prominent practitioners of contemporary evangelism. Originating at a three-day conference held at Trinity Evangelical Divinity School, ‘Telling the Truth’ draws on knowledge gained in the trenches by Ravi Zacharias, Kelly Monroe, D.A. Carson, Ajith Fernando, and other notables.” – Back Cover; edited
  • DOUGLAS GROOTHUIS. ‘Truth Decay: Defending Christianity Against the Challenges of Postmodernism’ (2000). “The concept of Truth as absolute, objective and universal has undergone serious deterioration in recent years. Rather Postmodernism sees Truth as inseparable from culture, psychology, race and gender. Ultimately, Truth is what we make it to be.” – Back Cover; edited

·         ABDU MURRAY. ‘Saving Truth: Finding Meaning & Clarity in a Post-Truth World’ (2018). “When it comes to sexuality, identity, and morality, ‘feelings and preferences’ have replaced Facts and Truth. Those who are confused or ambivalent about such issues are praised as ‘Tolerant.’ Those who express certainty are seen as bigoted, oppressive or arrogant … Author Abdu Murray awakens Westerners to the plight we find ourselves in … Ultimately, Murray guides us back to a Path of Truth that can only be discovered within the unwavering Word of God and to a bedrock of hope that can only be realized through the clarity that Christ offers.”  – Book Jacket; edited

POST-TRUTH AMERICA. “Relating to or denoting circumstances in which objective facts are less influential in shaping public opinion than appeals to emotion and personal belief.” – Murray, 2018, Book Cover

So, to this, my last entry into our now-sweeping, 12-PART COMMENTARY on ‘The Seven Churches of Revelation’ in this final effort to ‘Save Truth’ in our time. And, thereby, to rescue some of those still lost in the American spiritual and intellectual Detritus of its glaring absence.

  1. TEACHING I: THE GREAT BETRAYAL

As always, straight to the ONE KEY TERM before searching some discerning commentary about the importance of that single Word from the Text.

  • WEARIED. From the Hebrew term, ‘Yaga’ [יָגַע]. Meaning: “To gasp or become exhausted; to tire; toil, faith [from sustained effort]; to labour; wearied by much exertion and endurance [over a long period of time]; become fatigued, tiresome.” DK. Of course the Lord never becomes weary, but He chose this terminology to communicate His Divine Frustration of overseeing a continually rebellious people. – cf. Isaiah 40:28
  • COMMENTARY. “The Prophet now directs his Reproofs against the people for their discontent and their want of faith in the Promises of God, because the expected manifestation of God’s glory did not take place immediately. Because the doers of evil seem to flourish, the people say that God takes delight in them, or, ‘i.e., if this be not the case, Where is the God of judgment that He does not interpose to punish them?’ (Comp. Psalms 73, &c.) … [Thus] They had wearied the Lord by saying that He did not care about the behavior of everyone who did evil. Hypocritically, they challenged Him to intervene, saying, ‘Where is the God of Justice?’ … [He Replies]: ‘You have tired His patience by your blasphemous speeches, charging his Providence with injustice.’” – cf. CHARLES ELLICOTT, ‘Commentary on the Old and New Testaments,’ 1878, 1897; ALBERT BARNES, ‘Notes on the Old and New Testaments,’ 1884; WILLIAM MACDONALD, ‘Believer’s Bible Commentary,’ 1995, p. 1175; edited

DK’S TAKE. My Timeline Hypothesis about God contending with America for 120 years, beginning at the turn of the 20th Century in 1900 is sustained by this evidence (Genesis 6:3). If I am correct, then we are pretty much at the ‘End of the Line of Divine Grace,’ having worn out His patience with us.

Here are some anecdotal TURNING POINTS in that Timeline I have assembled over the last four decades of reflection.

THE ROARING 1920s. “‘I want to be naughty and yet be nice.’ American society was racked in the 1920s by clashes in moral standards. The rural and small-town population was fighting a series of rearguard actions to retain control and to enforce its standards on the rising cities. Each ten yearly census recorded the steady march toward ‘Urbanity.’ Many things about the city alarmed the Ruralists, but nothing so much as its low morals. The most visible struggle was against gambling, jazz music, stage nudity and Sunday entertainment and shopping.

There also was a vigorous struggle against allegedly immoral and salacious magazines, books and films, almost none of which took place in courtrooms. The citizens of the Midwest villages and towns instead used moral persuasion on local newsstands. By keeping the ‘snappy joke books’, confessions magazines, and ‘modern novels’ under the counter, everybody could pretend they did not exist.” – JOHN STEVENS, ‘History Today,’ Volume 39, Issue 11, November 1989; edited

THE REVOLUTIONARY 1960s. “During the 1960s, students across America rose up to demand reform. On campuses from Berkeley to New York, they demanded desegregation, unrestricted free speech, and withdrawal from the war in Vietnam. Highly idealistic and inspired by periodic successes, the students believed they were creating ‘a New America.’

During the 1960s, young Americans on and off campuses challenged conventional lifestyles and institutions. They protested the materialism, consumerism, and mania for success that drove American society. They urged people to explore alternative patterns of work and domesticity. They challenged traditions surrounding sex and marriage. And they argued that all paths to deeper fulfillment, even those involving illicit drugs, could be justified. They believed they were creating a new America …

The 1960s remain a controversial decade. Critics argue that the Era created the welfare state, bred a culture of immorality and self-indulgence, and bequeathed to America’s taxpayers an enormous burden. Its Defenders, on the other hand, argue that the decade left America’s political and social institutions more just, and its culture more healthy. The 1960s did create ‘a New America.’ The Question is: Was ‘new’ better?” – EDITORS, “The 1960s: Make Love Not War,” ‘Weebly,’ Ret. September 18, 2021; edited

THE TUMULTUOUS 2020s. “American history is driven by periodic moments of ‘Moral Convulsion.’ The late Harvard political scientist Samuel P. Huntington noticed that these convulsions seem to hit the United States every 60 years or so: the Revolutionary period of the 1760s and ’70s; the Jacksonian uprising of the 1820s and ’30s; the Progressive Era, which began in the 1890s; and the social-protest movements of the 1960s and early ’70s.

These moments share certain ‘Features.’ People feel disgusted by the state of society. Trust in institutions plummets. Moral indignation is widespread. Contempt for established power is intense … The Events of 2020—the Coronavirus Pandemic; the killing of George Floyd; militias, social-media mobs, and urban unrest—were like hurricanes that hit in the middle of that earthquake. They did not cause the moral convulsion, but they accelerated every trend. They flooded the ravines that had opened up in American society and exposed every flaw.” – DAVID BROOKS, “America is Having a Moral Convulsion,” ‘The Atlantic,’ October 5, 2020; edited

THE GAME CHANGER. Into all this historic, seismic change, massive moral decline and disavowal of the traditional Judeo-Christian Idea, stepped DONALD JOHN TRUMP after being elected President of the United States on Tuesday November 4, 2016.

Tragically, as with the 1960s, the Nation has been changed forever.

Here are Two cogent analyses of this stunning Mega-Event: One from a secular academic, the other, a more sanguine commentary from a Christian writer.

  • FRITZ FISCHER. “On January 6, supporters of U.S. President Donald Trump stormed the Capitol in Washington, D.C. As people not only in the U.S. but around the world try to understand the event and its ramifications, University of Northern Colorado Professor of History Fritz Fischer, Ph.D., offers context from a historical perspective. ‘What happened on January 6 was an unprecedented ‘Insurrection;’ it was a riot, and it’s debatable whether we can call it a Coup, but it resembled a Coup,’ Fischer said. ‘The reason we are so shocked and appalled is because what happened has never really happened before … The past is a mirror that we can look into and learn and make judgements from, and, in my personal opinion, because it was such a stark and jarring event, it is going to stay in people’s memories, and, therefore, have an impact.’” – “The Capitol Riot and its Lasting Impact,” ‘University of Northern Colorado,’ January 12, 2021; edited
  • JOSIAH MEYER. “As Evangelicals, we are used to ‘Revivals.’ Big social and media events where hundreds to tens of thousands become Christian at one time. I believe that what happened [on January 6] will cause a sort of ‘Reverse Revival.’ It will be impossible to calculate. But I strongly suspect that in one day Christianity lost more than would have been gained in several years of Billy Graham crusades. This event will become not just historic, but culture defining. Like the Crusades, this will become like ‘a cultural anchor point,’ which will turn generation after generation away from Christianity.
This day was the bitter harvest of years of sowing Idolatry to a political leader. It absolutely frustrates and angers me. It is so sad!” – “The Long Term Effects of the January 6 Insurrection,” ‘Word Press,’ January 8, 2021; edited

DK’S TAKE. I have proposed and will continue to do so that the Ultimate Impact of Donald Trump’s emergence on the political scene is nothing less than the ‘Balkanization’ of the entire American Culture into many different Fractures, or ‘Tribes,’ more accurately.

He has successfully pitted each Tribe against one another like no other leader in American History – including the Civil War – where Hatred rules the day.

  • TRIBALISM. “The state of being organized by, or advocating for, tribes or tribal lifestyles … With a negative connotation and in a political context, Tribalism can also mean discriminatory behavior or attitudes towards outgroups, based on[aggressive] in-group loyalty.”

And there are those who now believe that a full-scale Armed Conflict – a Second Civil War – is already in the making. I am one of them. And yet the American Church, save for tiny little rivulets from folks I have named previously, remains ‘Dead Silent’ to this day. Dead. Silent. Selah.

  1. TEACHING II: THE FAITHFUL REMMANT

SCRIPTURE. “Now listen, Joshua, the high priest, you and your colleagues who are sitting in front of you—indeed they are men who are a symbol [of what is to come]—for behold, I am going to bring in My servant the Branch [in Messianic glory].” – ZECHARIAH 3:8, AMP

And yet in the midst of all this chaos and tumult and division, a Faithful God preserves a Faithful Remnant of His people who refuse to bow or even bend to these dark tides flowing into all the nooks and crannies of our beleaguered culture.

Notably, beloved, he remains fiercely, lovingly proud of the efforts of those few, ‘those happy few,’ who refuse, on peril to their very lives, to submit to the tribunals of either Secular or Clerical Power.

What follows is His direct commendation to those truly faithful in Christ, The Remnant Church.

  • A WONDROUS SYMBOL. Taken from the Hebrew term, ‘Mopeth’ [מוֹפֵת], it refers to: “A wonder, a miracle, token, and portent [of what is to come]; an illustration or example to many [of what God desires]; a people who do wonderful deeds; a prodigy [endowed with exceptional qualities or abilities]; object lessons; marvel, an omen (for good); as with the Divine provision of manna, water and quail and a Pillar of Fire as a Guide.”
  • COMMENTARY. “Zechariah worked side by side with Haggai to quicken the religious life of the people, and thus to remove the gravest hindrances to the work of rebuilding the Temple. ‘Inward indifference,’ not outward opposition, is the real reason for slow progress in God’s work, and Prophets who see visions and preach repentance are the true practical men … The main point of Zechariah 3:8 is the promise of the Messiah, but the former part of the verse is remarkable. Joshua and his fellows are summoned to listen, ‘for they are men which are a sign.’ The meaning seems to be that he and his brethren who sat as his assessors in official functions, are collectively a Sign or embodied prophecy of what is to come. Their restoration to their offices was a shadowy prophecy of a greater act of forgiving grace, which was to be effected by the coming of the Messiah [the Branch].” – ALEXANDER MACLAREN, ‘Expositions of the Holy Scriptures,’ 105; edited

DK’S TAKE. Two stunning observations can be extracted from the amazing passage of Scripture. One, this body of Jewish believers in Joshua’s time were “priests” to be sure. But far beyond that, God called uniquely called them out as ‘Exemplars’ of what it meant to be a true follower of Yahweh.

That term is defined by NOAH WEBSTER AS: “‘A model,’ original or pattern, to be copied or imitated.”

It would seem that no higher praise could the Father bestow on His children, whether faithful Jew or faithful Christian. But He does, inasmuch these ‘chosen’ are also to act as ‘Heralds of the Messiah’s Return! They are the ‘Prophetic Sign’ of His very Advent, the ‘Five Virgins’ whose lamps were trimmed, the stuff of which Joshua and Caleb were constructed, and Gideon’s 300, stalwart, unafraid, obedient unto death.

Yet they were largely unknowns, whose names are known only to God.

THE TRUE CHURCH. These, beloved, are ‘The Remnant of God,’ His Warrior-Priests, His Emissaries of Light to the confused and treacherous Darkness of the Last Days. The ones who are supremely focused on ‘The Master’s Return,’ knowing neither the day nor the hour, but discerning the signs of the times, as did the Sons of Issachar before them.

They hail from the Churches at Sardis and Philadelphia and the Levitical line, even from the issue of Yeshua ben David, the Jewish Messiah and only begotten Son to Jehovah, the Father of Lights from whom all blessings flow.

They are, in the Words of the Apostle no less than this:

“But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a dedicated nation, [God’s] own purchased, special people, that you may set forth the wonderful deeds and display the virtues and perfections of Him Who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light.” – 1 PETER 2:9, AMPC

But such honor is not given to just any. Only to the one given fully, wholly devoted to the King of kings and the Lord of lords and His Truth. These are those who washed their robes clean by the watering of His Word, now true Members to the Bride, spotless and without blemish, and none other. – cf. 2 Corinthians 11:2; Ephesians 5:27; Revelation 19:7

Only these, beloved friends of God, “get to to.”

  1. LAST THOUGHTS

So it is that we draw to the end of this extended Series on the Seven Churches with a succinct restatement of the Thesis underlying the entire journey: There aren’t Seven Churches at all, beloved, nor five or three.

TWO CITIES, TWO CHURCHES. Before I began teaching online, I had never used nor even thought of the phrase, ‘The Binary Gospel.’ But I now believe that simple Praxis was revealed to me from On High.

It is a much less elegant Theological Idea captured so brilliantly in DR. JAMES MONTGOMERY BOICE’S ‘Two Cities, Two Loves’ – but it is the very same Doctrine: There is only The City of God, and The City of Man, with absolutely nothing in between. Nothing.

All things, all people, all ideas and movements, all that is humanity chooses to live in one or the other of those Two Worlds. For the American Church, I have carefully and prayerfully concluded that there has been a ‘Grand Egress’ from God’s City to Man’s. We have become what BEN HOWE rightly calls, ‘The Immoral Majority’ (2019), the predictable final state of the original Jerry Falwell’s ‘Moral Majority’ launched in 1979.

No beloved, the City of Man now led and personified in the political figure of DONALD JOHN TRUMP has for the moment, overwhelmed and conquered the Evangelical Church. Or at least the great ‘Immoral Majority’ of it. And it voices not a whisper of needing to Repent for its sustained HARLOTRY.

AN ILLUSTRATION. Should you think that too strong of a term, let me quote from Mr. Howe’s conclusions, to make the point lucid and, hopefully, unforgettable.

“[All this] reminds me of Jamie Lannister, eldest son of Tywin Lannister on the immensely popular HBO television series, ‘Game of Thrones.’ When Oleanna Tyrell, another powerful figure in the medieval world that serves as the show’s setting discusses Jaime’s incestuous devotion to his sister, Queen Cersei, she tries to impress upon him that his devotion is ‘misplaced’ and that victory in the ensuing wars will not earn the reward he hopes, saying, ‘She’s a monster. You do know that?’

Jaime responds, ‘To you, I’m sure. To others as well. But after we’ve won, and there’s no one left to oppose us, when people are living peacefully in the world she built, do you really think they’ll wring their hands over the way she built it?’ But he looks anxious, as if he doesn’t quite believe it himself.” – 2019, pp. 225-226; edited

DK’S TAKE. Howe’s meaning is both searing and sordid: As he says it, “Belief inwinning at all cost,’” undeniably the driving force behind Trump Christian Nationalism, “is a doomed philosophy.” Vastly worse than that, I quickly add, it is in fact, the doctrinal sedition the Scriptures define as BLASPHEMY:

“An Indignity offered to God by words or writing; reproachful, contemptuous or irreverent words uttered impiously against Jehovah. Blasphemy is an injury offered to God, by denying that which is due and belonging to Him or attributing to Him that which is not agreeable to his nature.” – WEBSTER, 1828; edited

Nearly the whole of the White American Church has drunk deep of her poisonous bilge water, and if Trump returns to power by running again, or by more nefarious means, they shall as surely jump in bed with him as they did twice now in 2016 and 2020, without missing a single ethical beat.

THE PRICE. The Biblical Penalty for Unrepentant Blasphemy is severe: “And he who blasphemes the Name of the Lord, he shall surely be put to death, and all the congregation shall certainly stone him; the stranger as well as he who was born in the land shall be put to death when he blasphemes the Name [of the Lord].” – LEVITICUS 24:16, AMPC

And no, I am not calling for the reinstitution of stoning. But the Apostle Paul clearly teaches while we are no longer ‘under’ the Law, we are not entirely ‘absolved’ of the Law. – cf. Romans 6:14, 8:3, etc.

I love the way Messianic Jewish scholar and teacher, AVRAM YEHOSUA, knocks down that typical American shibboleth that we give no heed to the Law at all.

“Many Christians think that because Jesus kept Mosaic Law perfectly, without sinning, they don’t have to keep Mosaic Law because He fulfilled it, but this is very strange reasoning. Following that logic, one could also say that Jesus kept the Laws not to lie, steal or murder, but does that mean that it’s alright with Jesus if a Christian lies, steals and murders? Of course not! And so it defies reason and common sense for Christians to say they don’t have to keep Mosaic Law because Jesus fulfilled it.

Let’s take a look at what the Word ‘fulfill,’ in its Biblical context, actually means …

Negation of Mosaic Law is a Roman Catholic concept that came into Christianity about 120 AD. It has no Truth or Scripture to support it because it’s a ‘tradition’ of the Roman Church that is very ancient, almost 2,000 years old, and so all Christians have grown up with it and have come to defend it, using Scripture like no longer being ‘under the Law.’ In this they are just like the Pharisees who confronted and accused Yeshua of sinning. The Pharisees, too, could point to Scripture to try and substantiate their position. Yeshua, though, clearly states in Matthew that Mosaic Law would continue to govern His followers until there are no Heavens and Earth. – “No Longer Under the Law?” ‘Seed of Abraham,’ Revised November 23, 2019; edited

THE REMNANT. This is why my personal calling and life-long quest is to ‘Restore the Forgotten Gospel,’ buried for generations by the American Church and our system of Seminaries across the land. The Remnant Church is to be the Repository of these Lost Truths, even as the fictional character played by DENZEL WASHINGTON was to be the Preserver of the Faith in the dystopian film, ‘Book of Eli’ (2010).

Which is precisely where I begin to End this Commentary, and why God’s Faithful Remnant is so terribly vital to the present hour. This True Church of the Last Days take the Messiah’s Word as inviolable:

“If you [really] love Me, you will keep and obey My commandments. And I will ask the Father, and He will give you another Helper (Comforter, Advocate, Intercessor—Counselor, Strengthener, Standby), to be with you forever—the Spirit of Truth, whom the world cannot receive [and take to its heart] because it does not see Him or know Him, but you know Him because He (the Holy Spirit) remains with you continually and will be in you.” – JOHN 14:15-17, AMP

THE GREAT DISTINCTION. Thus, Jesus commands His true worshipers to worship Him “in Spirit ‘and’ in Truth” (John 4:23-24), a direct parallel of His Word just cited.

Listen to JOHN PIPER’S superb summary of what I am calling, ‘The Great Distinction’ between the True Church and the False.

“Worship must be vital and real in the heart, and worship must rest on a true perception of God. There must be Spirit and there must be Truth … Truth without emotion produces dead orthodoxy and a church full (or half-full) of artificial admirers … On the other hand, emotion without Truth produces empty frenzy and cultivates shallow people who refuse the discipline of rigorous thought. But TRUE WORSHIP comes from people who are deeply emotional and who love deep and sound doctrine. Strong affections for God rooted in Truth are the bone and marrow of Biblical Worship.” – ‘Desiring God,’ 2003, pp. 84-85; edited

ALISTAIR BEGG. Just this morning waxed brilliant and passionate on the terrible Need for Orthodoxy instead of the “tickled ears” teachings in our Church, and among Christians in those churches. – cf. 2 Timothy 4:3

As I earlier was clearly instructed to visit the following passage as severe and loving Instruction to us all.

  • I PETER 2:11, AMPC. “So be done with every trace of wickedness (depravity, malignity) and all deceit and insincerity (pretense, hypocrisy) and grudges (envy, jealousy) and slander and evil speaking of every kind.”
  • ALBERT BARNES. “[Sojourners] should not: (a) Regard the earth as their home. (b) They should not seek to acquire permanent possessions here, as if they were to remain here. (c) They should not allow any such attachments to be formed, or arrangements to be made, as to impede their journey to their Final Home. (d) Even while engaged here in the necessary callings of life – their studies, their farming, their merchandise – their thoughts and affections should be on other things.  (e) We should not encumber ourselves with much of this world’s goods. (f) Abstain from fleshly lusts – Such desires and passions as the carnal appetites prompt to. [All of which] war against the soul whereby ‘the soul grows clogged by contagion.’” – ‘Notes on the Old and New Testaments,’ 1884; edited

CODA. Only these and these alone, dear friends, properly fitting themselves for ‘battle and benevolence,’ are the ones who comprise the True Remnant Church. Our Mission:

To Recapture the Integrity of our Witness to the world at all costs!

In these ways are we ‘To Prevail’ over all the Darkness that seeks to choke out our Light, not so much because of who ‘we’ are, but because of ‘Whom we serve.’

“In the beginning [before all time] was the Word (Christ), and the Word was with God, and the Word was God Himself. He was [continually existing] in the beginning [co-eternally] with God. All things were made and came into existence through Him; and without Him not even one thing was made that has come into being. In Him was life [and the power to bestow life], and the life was the Light of men. The Light shines on in the darkness, and the darkness did not understand it or overpower it or appropriate it or absorb it [and is unreceptive to it].”- JOHN :1-5, AMP

SALUTATION. Therefore, I do joyfully declare to you all, that this is the very Word of very God for these Last Times, demanding ALL that we have to Resist and Repel the Enemy of Truth.

To expose and shatter his lies and legends and their attendant ‘doctrines of demons.’ And this, to set captives free both in the Church and in the World. To make the deaf to hear and the blind to see. To even dare to cause the lame to walk strong again!

And all of it for Him, beloved. Our all for Him, and nothing less, so help us God.

Ever your servant, DK
