PRÉCIS ON THE INDISPUTABLE SOVEREIGNTY OF THE LIVING CHRIST

SCRIPTURE. “He [Christ] shall have dominion also from sea to sea and from the River [Euphrates] to the ends of the earth.” – PSALM 72:8, AMPC

KEY TERM: “DOMINION.” ‘Radah’ [רָדָה]: “From a root word meaning ‘to tread down, to subjugate;’ to dominate, prevail against, rule or reign; to overtake; related to the exercise of authority; power to direct, control, use and dispose of at pleasure; right of possession and use without being accountable.”

QUOTATION. “Can anything be imagined so ridiculous, that this miserable and wretched creature [man], who is not so much as master of himself, but subject to the injuries of all things, should call himself master and emperor of the world, of which he has not power to know the least part, much less to command the whole?” ― MICHEL DE MONTAIGNE, Apology for Raymond Sebond, 1686

COMMENTARY. He shall have dominion from sea to sea’ Either, 1st, From the Sinus Arabicus, or Red Sea, to the Mediterranean sea, for so far Solomon’s dominion extended; but so did David’s also; and, therefore, in that respect Solomon has not that pre-eminence, which this Promise plainly seems to give him, above his predecessors. Or, rather, 2d, More generally from one sea to another, or in all parts of the habitable world. In which sense it is ‘truly and fully accomplished in Christ, and in Him only!

And from the river’ — Namely, Euphrates: Which was the eastern border of the kingdom of Canaan, allotted by God, (Exodus 23:31Numbers 34:3,) but possessed only by David and Solomon; unto the ends of the earth’ — To the border of Egypt, or the tract of country along the Mediterranean sea, the end of the Land of Canaan. But if understood of the Kingdom of Christ, the expression means literally to the remotest parts of the earth, or throughout the whole world. Thus, Psalm 2:8I will give thee the heathen for thine inheritance, and the uttermost parts of the earth for thy possession.’” – JOSEPH BENSON, Notes on the Holy Bible, 5 vols., 1811-1818; edited

DK. In a Humanistic Era in which America presupposes that it can rule better than Christ by the institution of coercive, man-made laws under the governance of a Despot (Antichrist) is the height of de Montaigne’s Folly! The Idol of Power and Mammon has dared to seize dominion from the Sceptre of Christ to our own Final Destruction.

It is God who rules, now in part but then, in absolute, indisputable Sovereignty over not only America and Israel, but the entire planet. All this in The Eschaton, beloved, when lions and wolves shall dwell with lambs, the leopard with the young goat, and the nursing child shall play with the cobra.

Then shall His Dominion be fixed forever in place, as He rules from the New Jerusalem for all Eternity, with us at His royal side.
