PRÉCIS ON THE CRITICAL NEED FOR THE FULLNESS OF THE HOLY SPIRIT IN THE LAST TIMES

SCRIPTURE. “In the same way the Spirit [comes to us and] helps us in our weakness. We do not know what prayer to offer or how to offer it as we should, but the Spirit Himself [knows our need and at the right time] intercedes on our behalf with sighs and groanings too deep for words.” – ROMANS 8:26, AMP

KEY TERM: “GROANINGS.” ‘Stenagmos’ [στεναγμός]: “From a primitive root, ‘a narrowing or strait’ (presenting obstacles standing close about); thus, to sigh, murmur or pray inaudibly with great grief, sighing or grudge [against the obstacles]; to abide, remain upright or stand in place [in the midst of some great trial of faith]; i.e., groaning (sighing), especially brought on by circumstances creating great pressure.”

QUOTATION. “Stooping very low, He engraves with care His Name, indelible, upon our dust; And from the ashes of our self-despair, kindles a flame of hope and humble trust. He seeks no second site on which to build, but on the old foundation, stone by stone, cementing sad experience with grace, fashions a stronger temple of His own.” ― PATRICIA ST. JOHN, Patricia St. John Tells Her Own Story, 1995; edited

COMMENTARY. “Though the infirmities of Christians are many and great, so that they would be overpowered if left to themselves, yet the Holy Spirit supports them. The Spirit, as an Enlightening Spirit, teaches us what to pray for; as a Sanctifying Spirit, works and stirs up praying graces; as a Comforting Spirit, silences our fears, and helps us over all discouragements. The Holy Spirit is the Spring of all desires toward God, which are often more than words can utter. The Spirit who searches the hearts, can perceive the mind and will of the spirit, the renewed mind, and advocates His cause. The Spirit makes intercession to God, and the Enemy prevails not.” – MATTHEW HENRY, An Exposition of the Old and New Testaments, 6 vols., 1708-1710; edited

DK. This is one of the passages I pray into my morning devotions every single day alongside the Battle Garments of Ephesians 6:11, since it is so very vital to my success as a follower of the Messiah. Also note that not only does the Spirit intercede for us within our own spirit, but the King also intercedes for us in Heaven as He sits at the right hand of the Father.

So are we double-indemnified, if you will, by this Divine Cover for us all.

But there is a Divine Caveat, and it is massive. PAUL explains and defines this crucial requirement that demands of us the discipline of a true disciple of the Master. Do not get drunk with wine, for that is wickedness (corruption, stupidity), ‘But be filled with the [Holy] Spirit’ and constantly guided by Him.’” – EPHESIANS 5:18, AMP

The Greek term for “filled” here is, Pléroó’ [πληρόω]: “From a primitive root, ‘To make replete, to cram;’ to level up a hollow; to imbue, diffuse or influence (completely); to fully finish or satisfy a task; to fully preach with a perfect supply; to fill to one’s individual capacity; to abound throughout one’s soul; ‘to perfect or consummate [the believer], that he may follow through to the end’ (cf. Matt. 24:13).”

CODA.  The Holy Spirit is often referred to as “a Consuming Fire” at the top of Mt. Sinai and ultimately, within us! (cf. Exodus 24:17; Hebrews 12:29). I cannot emphasize enough the absolute necessity of ‘Being filled with God’s Fire’ in order to not only survive the Last Days, but to bear much fruit for His Kingdom before we are forcefully ‘Taken’ (1 Thessalonians 4:17).

My sincere and fervent counsel to you all is to obey the Command of Yeshuah  through Paul: ‘Ask God to fill you with His Holy Spirit every single day,’ and yes, and yes, be open to His Gifting being bestowed upon and within you as He does (knowledge, faith, healing, miracles, prophecy, discernment, tongues and interpretation of tongues; cf. 1 Corinthians 12-14; Romans 12; Ephesians 4; 1 Peter 4).

NOTE. However, the Gifts ought not be your focus, beloved, but inexorably on the ‘Gift-Giver.’ He shall shape them within you according to your Calling more than your personal desire. After this, then indeed: Make Ready for the ride of your lifetime, and His expression through you of the very Purpose for which you were saved, “For such a time as this.”
