PRÉCIS ON THE OCCASION OF A SECOND FACEBOOK LOCKOUT: FROM DESPAIR TO HOPE TO BREAKTHROUGH
SCRIPTURE. “I would have lost heart, unless I had believed that I would see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living. Wait on the Lord; be of good courage, and He shall strengthen your heart; Wait, I say, on the Lord!” – PSALM 27:13-14, KJV
KEY TERM: “WAIT!” ‘Qavah’ [קַוֵּ֗ה]: “From a primitive root, ‘To bind together [or join with] in expectation;’ to look, tarry or wait patiently (for, upon); i.e., ‘to hope;’ to order one’s activities around a future event [as in the Command, ‘Keep going!’ or ‘Soldier on!’].” WEBSTER (1828): “To stay or rest in expectation; to stop or remain stationary, till the arrival of some person or event.”
QUOTATION. “‘Rest in the Lord, and wait patiently for Him.’ Yes, for HIM. Seek not only the help, the gift, thou needest seek: HIMSELF; wait for HIM. ‘Give God His glory by resting in Him, by trusting him fully, by waiting patiently for Him.’ This patience honors Him greatly; it leaves Him, as God on the Throne, to do His work; it yields self wholly into His hands. ‘It lets God be God!’” – ANDREW MURRAY, Waiting on God, 1905; edited
COMMENTARY. (13)“‘I had fainted, unless I had believed’ – The words ‘I had fainted’ are supplied by the translators, but they undoubtedly express the true sense of the passage. The Psalmist refers to the state of mind produced by the efforts of his enemies to destroy him, as mentioned in Psalm 27:12. So numerous, mighty, and formidable were they, that he says his only support was his faith in God; his belief that he would yet be permitted to see the goodness of God upon the Earth.
In this time of perplexity and trial he had confidence in God, and believed that He would uphold him, and would permit him to see the evidences of His goodness and mercy while yet on the Earth. What was the ground of this confidence he does not say, but he had the fullest belief that this would be so. He may have had some special assurance of it, or he may have had a deep internal conviction of it, sufficient to calm his mind; but whatever was the source of this confidence it was that which sustained him. A similar state of feeling is indicated in the remarkable passage in Job, Job 19:25-27.
‘To see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living’ – That is, that I should ‘live,’ and yet see and enjoy the tokens of the Divine Favor here upon the earth.
(14) ‘Wait on the Lord’ – This is the sum of all the Instruction in the Psalm; the Main Lesson which the Psalm is designed to convey. The object is to induce others, from the experience of the Psalmist, to trust in the Lord; to rely upon Him; to come to Him in trouble and danger; to wait for His interposition when all other resources fail. Compare Psalm 25:3.
‘Be of good courage’ – The Hebrew word here means, ‘Be strong!’ That is, do not faint. Do not be dismayed. Still hope and trust in the Lord. ‘He shall strengthen thine heart’ – He will strengthen ‘thee.’ He will enable you to perform your duties, and to triumph over your enemies. See the notes at Isaiah 40:31.
DK’S TAKE. I should first state for you THE CONTEXT in which this brief commentary was composed. Since 2015, I have struggled mightily to bring to the American Church the message that Donald John Trump at the very least, was a mortal threat to both Church and State. In 2020, it became increasingly clear to me that he was in fact, the Biblical Antichrist, the Arch Foe of both Christ and Canon.
For all of those nearly 15 years, I have battled three terminations of employment by Christian organizations, the loss of almost all material stability, the marginalization and later the enmity of most of my former Christian friends, destruction of my professional reputation, dozens of death threats from followers of Donald Trump, and so many technological problems and failures I cannot count them.
Including this latest shutdown of my Facebook Account.
CODA. Yet, The Good News is found inside this PSALM OF DESPERATION, wherein King David rushes to the God of his salvation, grabs the horns of the altar as it were, and pleads his case before the Father, his only Hope at his point.
The Lockdown occurred on November 7, 2024; this Précis was penned early on the morning of November 8. The reason for my noting those dates is to draw your attention to the time span between the Initial Restriction and God’s Restoration –
‘Before the Restoration or the New Plan will have taken place!’
I have no other course but to look to Him for the Opening of that which has been Closed to me, by the Words of Christ: “Assuredly, I say to you, whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven.” – MATTHEW 18:18, NKJV
So it has been written, so let it be done, in the mighty, matchless name of YESHUA BEN DAVID, King of all kings, and Lord of all lords. Amen.
Selah.
