DK CIRCUIT RIDE LAUNCH: JUNE 10-25, 2021

So, beloved, the time has come for the old man to move from a Digital-Only presence to an actual, physical Circuit Rider for the first time. I have wanted to initiate this since March of 2020, but as we have all experienced: Covid-19 happened.

Though I have only a General Game Plan, He has made it clear to me that I am to make the Ride.

HISTORICAL CONTEXT

The TWO GRAPHICS used for this post provide necessary illustration of ‘Two American Narratives’ that distinguish TWO CIRCUIT RIDER ERAS, one from the Past in stunning contrast to the Present one in which we launch this effort.

NARRATIVE I (1720’S). The “Father of the Great Awakening” was a Dutch Reformed minister named THEODORUS JACOBUS FRELINGHUYSEN, described as “an important herald, if not the father of the Great Awakening,” and the subsequent Circuit Riders like Jonathan Edwards, who ignited The Great Awakening at the very influential Northampton Revival of 1734. DK: The Church was alive but ‘Backslidden’ due to increased prosperity of the Colonies.

NARRARTIVE II (2020’S). Three hundred years later, we have a radically different America, and a radically different, largely LAODICEAN CHURCH (Revelation 3:14-22). A Church compromised by riches, politics, power and timidity, dominated nearly completely by the new ‘Trump Christianity Model.’ Which Church, beloved, Jesus Christ promised this: “I will spew you out of My mouth!” (v. 16). As Remedy, only this: “Therefore I counsel you to purchase from Me ‘gold refined and tested by fire.’” (v. 18). DK: The Church is dying and very nearly, completely ‘Apostate’ and in desperate need of Purification by God’s Fire.

THE LAST DAYS CHURCH. In my favorite Dystopian novel written by my favorite novelist, CORMAC MCCARTHY, he penned these loosely similar (though secular) counsels from a father to a son while traveling a precarious path in Post-Apocalyptic America: “Keep a little fire burning; however small, however hidden … You have to carry the fire.” (‘The Road,’ 2006; edited).

Beloved of God, this is the Reality of Today’s American Church, requiring that we ‘Walk McCarthy’s Road’ leading to Life Forever. Which shall indeed produce “gold refined and tested by fire.”

If, and only if, one is ‘willing.’ (Free Will is a thing, beloved).

THE FIRE. From the Greek term, ‘Pur’ [πῦρ], an unmistakable reference to: “The heat of the sun, lightning; fig: strife, trials; the eternal fire; like with the ‘Fire of God’ which transforms all it touches into light and likeness with itself; as one who in a conflagration has escaped through the fire not uninjured, i. e., not without damage.” Selah

THE REMEDY: Willingness to Suffer for the Messiah. Or as Paul the Apostle wrote of it so powerfully:

“And this, so that I may know Him [experientially, becoming more thoroughly acquainted with Him, understanding the remarkable wonders of His Person more completely] and [in that same way experience] the power of His resurrection [which overflows and is active in believers], and [that I may share] the fellowship of His sufferings, by being continually conformed [inwardly into His likeness even] to His death [dying as He did]; so that I may attain to the resurrection [that will raise me] from the dead.” – PHILIIPPIANS 3:10-11, AMP

These, beloved, and only these, are the ones that ‘get to go.’ Selah.

THE COMMISSION

I have attempted to describe what I am commissioned to do for the past couple of years, but never settled on one specific definition. Until today (Monday June 6). While in prayer this morning, I clearly heard “Isaiah 58,” and was not enthusiastic since I foreknew it involved fasting – not my favorite thing.

But then this jumped off the page into my spirit for the Circuit Rides, and beyond.

“Cry aloud, spare not. Lift up your voice like a trumpet and declare to My people their transgression and to the house of Jacob their sins!” – ISAIAH 58:1, AMPC

CRY ALOUD. From the Hebrew, ‘Qara’ [קָרָא]: “To proclaim; read aloud; utter a loud sound; summons [as with a strong warning]; to appoint, call or commission; to preach; praise or celebrate one’s privileges [and duties].”

SPARE NOT. From the term, ‘Chasak’ [חָשַׂךְ]: “Do not refrain from nor withhold, nor keep back; to keep one from evil, calamity or Sheol; to hold in check; to restrain in order to preserve [one’s very soul].”

LIKE A TRUMPET. Finally, from the Hebrew word, ‘Shophar’ [שׁוֹפָר]: “A ram’s horn for a blowing; for religious purposes or for sounding an alarm; as giving a clear sound [cf. 1 Corinthians 14:8]; to announce an important event; at the start of a war [cf. Joel 2:1].”

HENRY SAYS IT PLAIN. “The Holy Spirit had Hypocrites of every age in view. Self-Love and Timid Christians may say, ‘Spare thyself;’ dislike to the Cross and other motives will say, ‘Spare the rich and powerful;’ but God says, ‘Spare not!’ and ‘We must obey God, not men!’ We all need earnestly to pray for God’s assistance in examining ourselves. Men may go far toward Heaven, yet come short; and they may go to Hell with a good reputation.” – ‘Exposition of the Old and New Testaments,’ 6 vols., 1708-1710; edited

THE TWOFOLD MISSION (1) To labor zealously, and if necessary, loudly, even severely: ‘To Awaken an Apostate American Church.’ (2) To establish a spiritual beachhead for the formation of ‘House Churches,’ toward the preservation of Sound Doctrine in the midst of massive Apostasy in the Establishment American Church.

“The early Christian community started as a House Church [in the ‘Cenacle,’ or Upper Room; Acts 1:13]. The record in the Book of Acts tells us that ‘They devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and to the fellowship … They broke bread in their homes and ate together with glad and sincere hearts. Some twenty-five years later, the Apostle Paul wrote to friends in Rome: ‘Greet also the church that meets in their house.’ During the following decades the Christians continued to meet in homes. In Times of Persecution, they went underground into the catacombs. But after the Roman Emperor Constantine legalized Christianity in AD 313, ‘church buildings began to multiply.’” – CHARLES E. “Those who are planted in the house of the Lord shall flourish in the courts of our God.” – PSALM 92:13, AMPC

WHY ME, LORD? Lest any of you think me special in some way, God gave me two answers to this Question posed for over a year. First: “Because you were the only one who said ‘Yes.’” Second, therefore, “That no man would boast.”

“But God has chosen the foolish things of the world to put to shame the wise, and God has chosen the weak things of the world to put to shame the things which are mighty; and the base things of the world and the things which are despised God has chosen, and the things which are not, to bring to nothing the things that are, that no flesh should glory in His presence.” – 1 CORINTHIANS 1:27-29, NKJV

MATTERS FOR PRAYER

STRONG HEALTH. Pray that I will remain strong spiritually, mentally and physically for the entirety of the journey.

DIVINE COVER. Also pray that the trip will be protected from all dangers, mishaps, mechanical and electronic failures, and foul weather.

FINANCIAL PROVISION. As I say, I am already well able to launch the Circuit Rides with the resources I already have on hand. Just continue to send your contribution at your normal pace; nothing extra is needed.
