PART III: “TROUNCING THE LIONS OF THE JORDAN.”

FIRST THOUGHTS

I chuckled a bit when I read that quotation from Reinhard Bonnke, because whether or not it presented a sound doctrinal position, my Mom would always tell me: “Son, don’t worry about Satan when he roars. He has no teeth!”

THESIS. While we might debate the finer points of that narrative, it points to a larger truth that is worth exploring: Why is today’s American Church operating today in Fear? It is clearly not in the Fear of God, but of Man. And to put it bluntly, it is a demonstrable, sustained FEAR OF DONALD TRUMP.

If only half true, this is patently, historically and theologically Abominable. Which brings me to a concept that we learned about in Schoolyard Conflicts that is germane to today’s Church-State travesty.

BULLYING. “Bullying is an ongoing and deliberate misuse of power in relationships through repeated verbal, physical and/or social behaviour that intends to cause physical, social and/or psychological harm. It can involve an individual or a group misusing their power, or perceived power, over one or more persons who feel unable to stop it from happening.” – EDITORS, ‘National Centre Against Bullying’ (Australia), ret. I remember my own first encounter with a bully named JOE PERRY. Typical ‘Bigger Kid against the Smaller Kid’ (yours truly) Scenario. During my first year as a 7^th grader at Arrowview Junior High School in San Bernardino, California, he made my life miserable. And he knew he could continue, because I was afraid of him.

This went on for months until one momentous day in the boy’s bathroom.

I was just finishing, standing in front of the mirror combing my Elvis Presley “duck tail” cut, when Perry approached me from behind with the usual threats and intimidations. But on that very special day, for some reason (and I think I know why and Who, now), something stirred in my gut, and I whirled around, got right in his face, and yelled at the top of my lungs:

“Joe Perry! If you don’t stop messin’ with me, I am going to kill you!”

Um, recall that I was only 12. In any case, the strangest thing happened. Perry’s face went blank, he faked a smile, then turned around and silently exited. And most significantly of all: I never, ever heard from him again. Not even once.

There’s more to the story that does not account to me well, as I then ‘feeling my oats,’ became the bully to a smaller kid, MARK POPPET, and oh did the Lord show me what’s what when I made fun of his violin one fateful afternoon. I nursed the subsequent wounds for some time to come.

II. SOME HARD LESSONS

My Prevailing Argument about the American Church is that it has allowed itself to be ‘Cowed into Submission’ to ILLIGITIMATE AUTHORITY: (1) Cowardice in the face of Loss of such things as congregants, tithes, and subsequent personal, material loss of a means of support; (2) Ignorance of the Truth governing such matters as are Biblical Authority; and (3) Rebellion against the Canonical Jesus, daring to Redefine Him in crass political terms.

Now please, please consider this, ever so carefully.

AUTHORITY & VIRTUE. “For rulers are not a terror to good works, but to evil. Do you want to be unafraid of the authority? Do what is good, and you will have praise from the same. For he is God’s minister to you for good. But if you do evil, be afraid; for he does not bear the sword in vain; for he is God’s minister, an avenger to execute wrath on him who practices evil.” – ROMANS 13:3-4, NKJV

Do you see it, beloved? God has never commanded us to obey ‘Corrupt Authority.’ May God forbid it! But the American Church has done just that, and thereby become ‘THE TIMID CHURCH’ that refuses to fight to defend the Faith.

The Apostle Paul wrote of such condition, ever so clearly.

“For God did not give us a spirit of timidity (of cowardice, of craven and cringing and fawning fear), but [He has given us a spirit] of power and of love and of calm and well-balanced mind and discipline and self-control.” – 2 TIMOTHY 1:7, AMPC

TIMIDITY. From the Greek word, ‘Deilia’ [δειλία]: “Cowardice, Reticence (used uniquely in this passage); Fearfulness; to shrink back (in fear; cf. Hebrews 10:38); causing one to flee or run away from [one’s responsibility]; want of courage or boldness to face danger; timorousness.”

ALEXANDER MACLAREN. “To be weak is to be wicked nine times out of ten. I believe that the bulk of men that go wrong, that ‘Go to the devil,’ as you say, do it, not so much because of a bias towards evil as of a fatal feebleness that is Incapable of Resistance; and I know of nothing that is more needed to be dinned into the ears – especially of the young who have their chances before them yet – than this truth: The man that cannot say ‘No!’ is doomed to say ‘Yes!’ to all bad things that may solicit him. To be weak is to be wicked in such a world as we live in; and many of you know how fatally, facilely, and feebly you have yielded, for no other reason than because the Temptation was there and you were not man enough to stop your ears to it, and let it hum past you without touching you.” – ‘Exposition of Holy Scripture,’ 1900; edited

GOD HATES COWARDICE! “He who overcomes [the world by adhering faithfully to Christ Jesus as Lord and Savior] will inherit these things, and I will be his God and he will be My son. But as for the cowards and unbelieving and abominable [who are devoid of character and personal integrity and practice or tolerate immorality], and murderers, and sorcerers [with intoxicating drugs], and idolaters and occultists [who practice and teach false religions], and all the liars [who knowingly deceive and twist truth], their part will be in the lake that blazes with fire and brimstone, which is the second death.” – REVELATION 21:7-8, AMP

TO THE CHURCH BANAL. For the past ten years or so, but especially in the last five, I have found myself at first bored, then increasingly outraged at almost all Church services. I know: How unkind of you, Dr. K. But it’s true, and I don’t think it’s just me. Consider this.

Banality: “So lacking in originality as to be obvious and boring; devoid of freshness or originality; hackneyed; trite; commonplace, wishy washy, insipid, flat, diluted, indifferent.” Indeed, one might easily conclude:

‘LUKEWARM.’ – cf. Revelation 3:16

In her chilling magnum opus, ‘Eichmann in Jerusalem: A Report on the Banality of Evil’ published in 1963, HANNAH ARENDT wrote of this idea in unforgettable ways to describe the Nazi Horrors, so urgently relevant to present day America.

“Evil comes from a failure to think. It defies thought for as soon as thought tries to engage itself with evil and examine the premises and principles from which it originates, it is frustrated because it finds nothing there. That is The Banality of Evil.’”

As the bipolar opposite of ‘The Church Militant,’ this then, is ‘The First Church of Accommodation,’ so easily intimidated by The Oppressor, a shameful, cowering, passive and nearly fully compromised ‘Religious Institution’ that can no longer be considered Christian. A mere shadow of its former self, a defeated, bullied coward, that preaches a ‘Partial Gospel,’ or far worse:

‘ANOTHER GOSPEL.’ Paul speaks again, this time in considerably fury.

“But even if we or an angel from heaven should preach to you a gospel contrary to and different from that which we preached to you, let him be accursed (anathema, devoted to destruction, doomed to eternal punishment)! As we said before, so I now say again: If anyone is preaching to you a gospel different from or contrary to that which you received [from us], let him be accursed (anathema, devoted to destruction, doomed to eternal punishment)!” – GALATIANS 1:8-9, AMPC

Did you get that, beloved: “Doomed to eternal punishment,” for a sin so grave, so ignored, so maliciously obfuscated, that the great majority of Today’s American Church is allowing itself to be virtually Catapulted toward the Flames. Yes, Hellfire, that is what God’s Word promises to the fully Apostate.

Still far worse for all the Pastors and Teachers and Leaders blithely leading countless multitudes to join in their perfidious Capitulation to this World Spirit of the Age, the very Spirit of Antichrist.

Dear God, people, WAKE UP, while you still can!

III. THE TEACHING

“Therefore [earnestly] wait for Me, says the Lord, [waiting] for the day when I rise up to the attack [as a witness, accuser, or judge, and a testimony]. I have said it before: I believe God is nearly done withholding His Judgments upon America and the World, though some argue that He may be giving us a ‘Divine Interregnum’ [temporary suspension of hostility] if you will,’ that we might have time to reconsider our ways, before He releases the Kraken.

THE DRILL DOWN. Now once again, to the work of a deeper understanding of this Prophetic Passage.

WAIT FOR ME. From the Hebrew, ‘Chakah’ [חָכָה], translated as: “To long for, await, attach to; tarry with; absolute, waiteth (and cometh to the days of blessedness; Daniel 12:12); also, to the days of barbarousness [depending on one’s position in relation to Jesus Christ]; derives from a root word that connotes ‘a piercing’ [as in a Day of final definition].”

GOD ARISES. Here there is a definite, specific Day when the Lord ‘Rises up’ to bring either Rescue to the Remnant, or Recompense to the Rebellious. From the Hebrew, ‘Qum’ [קוּם]: “To stand or stand up; lit., to rise in order to accomplish or make clear the consequences of God’s decrees; to perform that which was promised; to be stirred from His former position [imp., on His Throne, to reestablish order].”

FOR PLUNDER. From the Hebrew, ‘Ad’ [עַד]: “For booty or prey; for a witness in the Day of His Revelation; for judgment in the Day of His Resurrection that is to come; lit., for goods taken by force from an enemy in time of war; seized by violence; to be devoured, to ravage; depredation; as with a lion in stealth toward his prey; to advance in terms of perpetuity or eternity [again implicating a time of final definition of the Destiny of individuals and nations].”

BY INDIGNATION. Now the Lord is blunt edged about His Mood. From the Hebrew, ‘Zaam’ [זַעַם]: “Rage, anger; lit., to froth at the mouth; God’s furious displeasure with sin; to be severely irritated; to punish or curse; to denounce; God’s wrath, displayed in such a way that the very earth shall tremble beneath it, or ‘be devoured;’ describes both God’s state of mind and His actions which follow.” DK: Again, this is the Jesus we never hear about any longer in our sanctuaries. Not ever, with rare and precious exception.

FIRE OF JEALOUSY. To this Final, Divine Retribution, exceeding His Indignation. From the word, ‘Qinah’ [קִנְאָה]: “Ardor, zeal, divine envy or anger; lit., ‘great zeal as strong as the grave;’ permits no rivals [or false gods]; intolerant of sustained sin [as opposed to the intermittent sin we all commit; unrepentant]; passion; ardent love of God for His people; warmth, or heat, applied to the passions and affections; eagerness.” DK: I add with some authority that this ‘Divine Rage’ shall be doubled for those Leaders in the Church who betrayed God and Truth in sustained, unrepentant rebellion.

“Not many [of you] should become teachers (self-constituted censors and reprovers of others), my brethren, for you know that we [teachers] will be judged by a higher standard and with greater severity [than other people; thus we assume the greater accountability and the more condemnation].” – JAMES 3:1, AMPC

IN SUM. My impassioned appeals to the Church Leaders is designed to first Awaken, then, yes, to Threaten with God’s Wrath if nothing else shall accomplish an Awakening, and finally, to Avert having God’s Judgments come upon me for failing to Unequivocally Warn those in existential peril.

“But if the watchman sees the sword coming and does not blow the trumpet and the people are not warned, and the sword comes and takes any one of them, he is taken away because of his corruption and sin; but I will require his blood from the watchman’s hand.” – EZEKIEL 33:6, AMP

COMMENTARY. “In this chapter, Ezekiel is compared to a Watchman. If he Warns the people faithfully, but they do not hear, then they will be responsible for their own Destruction. If he fails to Warn the people, and they Perish, God will require their blood at the Watchman’s hand…For whom will God hold us responsible? To whom shall we Witness? Whom shall we Warn? Our relatives, fellow workers, neighbors, friends? It is a Solemn Responsibility, and we do harm to our own soul if we not fulfill it faithfully.” – WILLIAM MACDONALD, ‘Believer’s Bible Commentary,’ 1995, p. 1060; edited

IV. LAST THOUGHTS

Now to the most difficult, but vastly more important, part of our Study: NAMING the Lions of the Floodplain of the Jordan. That is to say, those Christian Leaders and Organizations that have arrayed themselves ‘Against Christ’s Authority, and His true followers, in favor of Trump’s Malignant “Christianity.”

I do this in the Spirit of what DR. MARVIN OLASKY calls, ‘Truthful Defamation’ – Telling a difficult truth about an unrepentant believer or leader – for the reasons specified earlier by moral reason and Scriptural admonition.

THE FALSE LIONS. According to a combination of sources which I shall name in just a bit here is a Partial List of those Christians still SUPPORTING DONALD TRUMP. I consider them to be, by the Canon, ‘The Lost,’ so long as they remain Unrepentant. – cf. Pastor Matthew Johnson; and Matthew 7:13-14, 24:13; Luke 8:13; Hebrews 6:4-6, 10:35-39; James 1:12, 5:11

JERRY FALWELL, JR. “Six months after his ouster from Liberty University, Jerry Falwell Jr. was back at the university he’d led for 13 years, cheering on the home team … ‘The employees and the board have been nothing but supportive, 100 percent. The students all want to get their picture with me. They thank me,’ Falwell said. Falwell said he and Liberty’s Board had also resolved a dispute over his severance payment, which Falwell said last fall amounted to him being owed $10.5 million after being let go from Liberty. FRANKLIN GRAHAM. “Former president Donald Trump’s fortune plummeted by nearly a third during his tenure at the White House and evangelist Franklin Graham has come to the defense of the Republican saying it so happened because the latter put America first and not his business interests. A vocal defender of the former president who has come out in support of him on several issues and said last December that Trump would go down in history as one of the greatest presidents, said that it was the latter’s selflessness that saw his wealth declining. ‘President Trump did not even take a salary when he was serving as president—he gave it all back. So many politicians leave office with far more money than when they came into office. This report says he dropped about $1B in wealth during those 4 years while he served,’ Graham tweeted in response to an article in USA TODAY. He also said: ‘Donald Trump became president not to make money, but to do his best to preserve the great things about this nation for future generations. He put America first. I’ve never seen anyone work harder. DR. ROBERT JEFFRESS. “Dallas pastor Robert Jeffress, one of President Trump’s most vocal evangelical backers, said he ‘absolutely’ did not regret backing Trump despite the deadly riot at the U.S. Capitol last week. Jeffress was one of the first high-profile Trump supporters to acknowledge President-elect Joe Biden’s victory. Days after major networks projected Biden as the winner, Jeffress wrote in a Fox News column that it was ‘a bitter pill to swallow’ but that ‘the rubber really meets the road when the person who takes office is not the one we supported.’ White evangelical Christians are among the most reliably pro-Trump demographics, but cracks have appeared in the coalition amid criticisms that he incited last week’s mob. Pastor Franklin Graham earlier this week told USA Today that he believes Trump “regrets” his rhetoric leading up to the riot but said ‘I don’t think it was the president’s finest moment.’ On Tuesday, in his first public remarks since the riot, Trump called his rhetoric ‘totally appropriate.’” – ZACK BUDRYK, “Jeffress Says He ‘Absolutely’ Does Not Regret Supporting Trump After Capitol Riot,” ‘The Hill,’ January 13, 2021; edited

DR. JAMES DOBSON. “These are momentous and dangerous days for our country and its people. When I last wrote to you in late December, this was my opening statement: ‘America faces the possibility of catastrophic change. By the time you receive this letter, you will know what I can only speculate about today. Everything depends on two legal developments: First, whether or not the US Supreme Court addresses the legitimacy of the presidential election on November 3rd; the Second depends on the outcome of two runoff elections in Georgia, scheduled for January 5th. On these two turning points hang the future of our great nation, and eventually, the world. I believe [God] is telling us to stay in the field. There is work to be done in His vineyard. We must not abandon our conservative politicians who are up against formidable opposition from the Left. Our Bible-believing pastors are facing unrelenting pressure, and it isn’t going to get easier. Godly teachers and professors need to know we have their backs. Many Christians in the military may feel lonely and overwhelmed. Police officers and firefighters need to know we are praying for them. Those of us on the home front must not cut and run. Your children are watching you daily. Don’t disappoint them at this time of crisis. PAT ROBERTSON. The 700 Club’s Pat Robertson finally was forced to admit the truth about Donald Trump after being a dutiful sycophant for the last four years. Robertson has been praying for a miracle these last few weeks to allow Trump to get a second term even after he lost the November 3 election bigly and even has been justifying every conspiracy theory that Rudy Giuliani has peddled throughout. But now after Trump incited the seditious riot and ransacking of the Capitol, Robertson took a different tone. ‘There was a madness yesterday, and it came on Donald Trump,’ he said. The evangelical leader said that Trump had the entire Congress ready to fight for him including Ted Cruz in both chambers, but … ‘So what does Trump do? He goes crazy, and he urges the huge crowd that came to Washington to support him to take a march on the Capitol, — they took over the Capitol. They invaded the offices and just did a horrible thing.’ Robertson even panned Trump for attacking Georgia’s Governor and Secretary of State who are Republicans and both Senate candidates went down in flames because of Trump’s madness. JIM BAKKER. “‘Last night I had a dream and it was like the movie “Star Wars” and Trump was dressed as Luke in white fighting with Darth Vader,’ said Bakker on his show. ‘Trump defeated Vader and when his helmet cracked open it was Joe Biden. LANCE WALLNAU. “What Former President Donald Trump is doing, not doing and going to do next. Let’s clear the air and get a fresh perspective on all things prophetic. We could have had 4 more years of Delayed Crisis but it would have been 4 years of hell raging against Donald Trump while the Church continued its wobbly path of business as usual. God said – ‘No’ to that option. Instead, we have entered a new chapter of history and God has chosen to let the nation experience the consequences of its choices. What about the Election? Even if evidence comes out that the ballots and software were manipulated, (as I hope advances further this week) we still have some 70 million people who voted for the policies they are now about to get. The next two years may kill the American romance with Marxist Revolution. It will be like ‘scratch and sniff.’ Is this what you voted for? Trump has 75 million who wait to see what he does next. Half of them are low hanging fruit for the Lord. Think about that. I personally think God has Donald Trump on hold while we catch up. THE REST OF THE STORY. “For all the predictions and talk of a slump in support among Evangelicals, it appears Donald Trump’s election loss was not at the hands of religious voters. As an analyst of religious data, I’ve been crunching data released in March 2021 that breaks down the 2020 U.S. presidential election results by faith. And by and large there was very little notable change in the vote choice of religious groups between 2016 and 2020 — in fact, for most faiths, support for Trump ticked up slightly. Instead, it was among those who do not identify with any religion that Trump saw a noticeable drop … With 80% of white evangelicals backing Trump in 2020, support actually ticked up from the 78% who voted for him four years earlier. DAY OF INFAMY. To remind us all: It was on TUESDAY JUNE 21, 2016, when 178 of America’s most Prominent Leaders of the entire Evangelical, Pentecostal and Charismatic world agreed to meet with then Presidential candidate, Donald Trump, in New York.

Here is a sampling of that Epic Event that changed American History and Church Orthodoxy for perpetuity.

“Fox News was told the all-day event, called ‘A Conversation About America’s Future with Donald Trump and Dr. Ben Carson’ at the Marriott Marquis in New York City, was to be attended by the presumptive Republican nominee for about two hours. During his time on the stage, Trump answered pre-selected questions from attendees and talked directly with former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee and Rev. Franklin Graham. Other pastors and evangelical leaders in attendance included James Robison, Ralph Reed, President of the Southern Baptist Convention Steve Gaines and Family Research Council’s Tony Perkins. Notably, Hillsong Church Pastor Carl Lentz will be in attendance – representing a millennial voice among the Evangelicals present. Former Rep. Michele Bachmann also attended the gathering. Bill Dallas, head of the faith-based political non-profit United in Purpose, who co-organized the event along with Carson, told Fox News before the meeting that issues to be discussed included jobs, the economy, a strong military and Supreme Court picks.” – TODD STARNES, JOHN ROBERTS & SERAFIN GOMEZ, “Trump Meets with Concerned Evangelical Leaders in NYC,” ‘Fox News,’ June 21, 2016; edited

THE IMPACT. For these ‘False Church Lions,’ then: NO CHANGE from this early commitment, none, beloved. None. All who climbed onboard following this fateful Day of Treachery are either still committed, or silent about their position concerning Mr. Trump. Silent, or Supportive still.

Even after January 6, 2021. Not even then!

I frankly cannot adequately express the Titanic Impact of this massive Shift in Church Redefinition of the Canon – for that is expressly what it was. An effective Trashing of the Great Creeds, and nothing less, that has proved to be the singular Undoing of Church Integrity more devastating than at any other time in our entire existence as a ‘Christian Nation.’

AMERICAN SUICIDE. Now this is extreme, I admit, but as I reread those stunning, inarguably anti-Christian statements from America’s Christian Elites, I was reminded of an equally stunning statement from America’s undisputed pioneer in the development of nuclear weapons, J. ROBERT OPPENHEIMER.

As he watched the detonation of our first atomic bomb, he described it this way some twenty years later.

“‘We knew the world would not be the same,’ Oppenheimer remembered in 1965. ‘A few people laughed, a few people cried. Most people were silent. I remembered the line from the Hindu scripture, the ‘Bhagavad Gita’; Vishnu is trying to persuade the Prince that he should do his duty and, to impress him, takes on his multi-armed form and says, ‘Now I am become Death, the destroyer of worlds.’ The translation’s grammatical archaism made it even more powerful, resonating with lines in Tennyson (‘I am become a name, for always roaming with a hungry heart’), Shakespeare (‘I am come to know your pleasure’), and the Bible (‘I am come a Light into the world, that whosoever believeth on Me should not abide in Darkness’).” – COLIN MARSHALL, ‘J. I fully believe that what the Church is doing today is no less destructive, and frankly more so, than Oppenheimer’s Great Lament. Again, still again, I daresay one more time: If the Church does not reverse this Path toward Spiritual Annihilation in the days just ahead, here is what God Promises to America, and to the entire world:

And most especially to all Leaders.

“‘Woe to the shepherds (the civil leaders) who destroy and scatter the sheep of My pasturing!’ says the Lord. Therefore thus says the Lord, the God of Israel, concerning the shepherds who care for and feed My people: ‘You have scattered My flock and driven them away and have not visited and attended to them; behold, I will visit and attend to you for the evil of your doings,’ says the Lord.

‘And I will gather the remnant of My flock out of all the countries to which I have driven them and will bring them again to their folds and pastures; and they will be fruitful and multiply. And I will set up shepherds over them who will feed them. And they will fear no more nor be dismayed, neither will any be missing or lost,’ says the Lord.” – JEREMIAH 23:1-4, AMPC

CODA. Jesus Christ is in the Final Stages of fulfilling all His Promises to the Church first, His beloved Israel second, and the Unbelieving Nations last of all. This is all but upon us, beloved. So do I reach out to every single person who is Yet Estranged from the Messiah, in one way or another:

To Join His Everlasting Remnant, in order to live and work side by side with Jesus Christ for all Eternity, to help Govern the whole of the Universe.

Or side with this Consummate Rebellion, to remain faithful to ‘Another Savior,’ and ‘Another Gospel,’ and thereby RISK being consigned to the Lake of Fire for all Eternity, never to have opportunity to Life, ever, ever again. No, not ever.

Choose well, beloved. Choose well. The Time given us to Decide is very nearly gone from us to accomplish it.
