NOTES ON THE FALL OF BABYLON III: A SCRIPTURAL LAMENTATION FROM BOTH PROPHET AND APOSTLE ON THE DEATH OF EMPIRE– (WITH VIDEO)

1. PRELUDE

The morning of February 24, 2025, I was awakened to a Call to Study an Old Testament Passage that portends the final and utter Destruction of the United States of America and subsequently, the entire Community of Nations. This by the Hand of Almighty God who I now believe has reached The End of His Tolerance for the Abominations committed by all.

But especially, beloved: by us Americans and her Churchmen!

WHEN GOD IS DONE. Both the Old and New Testaments clearly teach that God has His ‘Divine Telos’ [τέλος] for every Event under Heaven and throughout the entire Cosmos.

The various Greek renderings for this important term are summarized by James Strong’s Concordance (1895): “In the New Testament, ‘Telos’ is used to denote the end or completion of a process, the ultimate purpose or goal, and sometimes the result or outcome. It can refer to the End of an Age, the fulfillment of a Prophecy, or the completion of a Task. ‘The term is often used in Eschatological contexts, referring to the End Times or the Consummation of God’s Plan.

Contrary to the implications issuing from the American Pulpit these days, God does in theological fact NOT wait for us forever! One of the most powerful articulations of this part of the Gospel comes to us from His own Words through Luke the Apostle in an Unsettling Parable.

THE FIG TREE. “A certain man had a fig tree that had been planted in his vineyard; and he came looking for fruit on it, but did not find any; so he said to the vineyard-keeper, ‘For three years I have come looking for fruit on this fig tree and have found none. Cut it down! Why does it even use up the ground [depleting the soil and blocking the sunlight]?’ But he replied to him, ‘Let it alone, sir, [just] one more year until I dig around it and put in fertilizer; and if it bears fruit after this, fine; but if not, cut it down!’ – LUKE 13:6-9, AMP

A myth-splitting interpretation of Jesus’ Meaning is penned by GEORGE HENRY LANG (20 November 1874–20 October 1958), English Bible teacher, author, and biblical scholar.

“The Son of God knew the mind of His Father. The Owner of the Vineyard, and that the Dread Order ‘Cut it down!’ had been issued. Israel had again exhausted the Divine Forbearance. Neither a nation nor a person has reason to enjoy the care of God if not bringing forth fruits of righteousness unto the glory and praise of God. Man exists for the honour and pleasure of the Creator: When he does not serve this just end, why should not the sentence of death follow his sinful failure and he be removed from his place of privilege?”– Cited in Wm. With that said, during my Ten-Year Sojourn that began on March 17, 2015, when I heard the Lord distinctly Command, “Write the book now!” I came to propose A THESIS:

‘America’s Final Timetable for Repentance commenced in the Year 1900 and Ended in the Year 2020.’

THE TEMPLATE. “Now it happened, when men began to multiply on the face of the land, and daughters were born to them, that the sons of God saw that the daughters of men were beautiful and desirable; and they took wives for themselves, whomever they chose and desired. Then the Lord said, ‘My Spirit shall not strive and remain with man forever, because he is indeed flesh [sinful, corrupt—given over to sensual appetites]; nevertheless his days shall yet be A HUNDRED AND TWENTY YEARS.’” – GENESIS 6:1-3, AMP

As you do The Divine Math as I see it at least, Current Spiritual and Political Events exploding all around us under President Trump’s rapid-fire Destruction of America’s Constitutional Order have driven me toward this most sobering Reassessment of What Lies Immediately Ahead.

To drive this Thesis home, here is an Prescient Prediction I discovered while drafting the final revisions for my recent book, The Sixth Seal II (2024) from ALFRED W. MCCOY, University of Wisconsin professor of history.

“A soft landing for America 40 years from now [2010]? Don’t bet on it. The Demise of the United States as the Global Superpower could come far more quickly than anyone imagines. ‘If Washington is dreaming of 2040 or 2050 as the End of the American Century, a more realistic assessment of domestic and global trends suggests that in 2025, just 15 years from now, it could all be over for the shouting’” (“The Decline and Fall of the American Empire,” The Nation, Dec. 6, 2010; edited).

Uncanny from where I sit, my friends. To the following Unique Theological Lamentation about the United States I have ever considered. Selah.

II. THE DESTRUCTION OF AMERICAN BABYLON: EIGHT MOVEMENTS

MOVEMENT ONE. “The mournful, inspired prediction (a burden to be lifted up) concerning Babylon which Isaiah son of Amoz saw [with prophetic insight]: Raise up a signal banner upon the high and bare mountain, summon them [the Medes and Persians] with loud voice and beckoning hand that they may enter the gates of the [Babylonian] nobles. I Myself [says the Lord] have commanded My designated ones and have summoned My mighty men to execute My anger, even My proudly exulting ones [the Medes and Persians]—those who are made to triumph for My honor …

MOVEMENT TWO. Behold, the day of the Lord is coming!—fierce, with wrath and raging anger—to make the land and the [whole] earth a desolation and to destroy out of it its sinners. For the stars of the heavens and their constellations will not give their light; the sun will be darkened at its rising and the moon will not shed its light. And I, the Lord, will punish the world for its evil, and the wicked for their guilt and iniquity; I will cause the arrogance of the proud to cease and will lay low the haughtiness of the terrible and the boasting of the violent and ruthless.

I will make a man more rare than fine gold, and mankind scarcer than the pure gold of Ophir. Therefore I will make the heavens tremble; and the earth shall be shaken out of its place at the wrath of the Lord of hosts in the day of His fierce anger …

MOVEMENT THREE. And Babylon, the glory of kingdoms, the beauty of the Chaldeans’ pride, shall be like Sodom and Gomorrah when God overthrew them. [Babylon] shall never be inhabited or dwelt in from generation to generation; neither shall the Arab pitch his tent there, nor shall the shepherds make their sheepfolds there. But wild beasts of the desert will lie down there, and the people’s houses will be full of dolefully howling creatures; and ostriches will dwell there, and wild goats [like demons] will dance there. And wolves and howling creatures will cry and answer in the deserted castles, and jackals in the pleasant palaces. And [Babylon’s] time has nearly come, and her days will not be prolonged.”

MOVEMENT FOUR. Then I saw another angel descending from heaven, possessing great authority, and the earth was illuminated with his radiance and splendor. And he shouted with a mighty voice, ‘She is fallen! Mighty Babylon is fallen! She has become a resort and dwelling place for demons, a dungeon haunted by every loathsome spirit, an abode for every filthy and detestable bird. For all nations have drunk the wine of her passionate unchastity, and the rulers and leaders of the earth have joined with her in committing fornication (idolatry), and the businessmen of the earth have become rich with the wealth of her excessive luxury and wantonness.’ I then heard another voice from heaven saying, ‘Come out from her, my people, so that you may not share in her sins, neither participate in her plagues. For her iniquities (her crimes and transgressions) are piled up as high as heaven, and God has remembered her wickedness and [her] crimes [and calls them up for settlement].

MOVEMENT FIVE. Repay to her what she herself has paid [to others] and double [her doom] in accordance with what she has done. Mix a double portion for her in the cup she mixed [for others]. To the degree that she glorified herself and reveled in her wantonness [living deliciously and luxuriously], to that measure impose on her torment and anguish and tears and mourning. Since in her heart she boasts, ‘I am not a widow; as a queen [on a throne] I sit, and I shall never see suffering or experience sorrow’— So shall her plagues (afflictions, calamities) come thick upon her in a single day, pestilence and anguish and sorrow and famine; and she shall be utterly consumed (burned up with fire), for mighty is the Lord God Who judges her.’

MOVEMENT SIX. And the rulers and leaders of the earth who joined her in her immorality (idolatry) and luxuriated with her will weep and beat their breasts and lament over her when they see the smoke of her conflagration. They will stand a long way off, in terror of her torment, and they will cry, ‘Woe and alas, the great city, the mighty city, Babylon! In one single hour how your doom (judgment) has overtaken you! And earth’s businessmen will weep and grieve over her because no one buys their freight (cargo) any more. Their merchandise is of gold, silver, precious stones, and pearls; of fine linen, purple, silk, and scarlet [stuffs]; all kinds of scented wood, all sorts of articles of ivory, all varieties of objects of costly woods, bronze, iron, and marble; Of cinnamon, spices, incense, ointment and perfume, and frankincense, of wine and olive oil, fine flour and wheat; of cattle and sheep, horses and conveyances; and of slaves (the bodies) and souls of men! The ripe fruits and delicacies for which your soul longed have gone from you, and all your luxuries and dainties, your elegance and splendor are lost to you, never again to be recovered or experienced! The dealers who handled these articles, who grew wealthy through their business with her, will stand a long way off, in terror of her doom and torment, weeping and grieving aloud, and saying, Alas, alas for the great city that was robed in fine linen, in purple and scarlet, bedecked and glittering with gold, with precious stones, and with pearls!’

MOVEMENT SEVEN. Because in one [single] hour all the vast wealth has been destroyed (wiped out). And all ship captains and pilots, navigators and all who live by seafaring, the crews and all who ply their trade on the sea, stood a long way off, And exclaimed as they watched the smoke of her burning, ‘What city could be compared to the great city!’ And they threw dust on their heads as they wept and grieved, exclaiming, ‘Woe and alas, for the great city, where all who had ships on the sea grew rich [through her extravagance] from her great wealth! In one single hour she has been destroyed and has become a desert!’ Rejoice (celebrate) over her, O heaven! O saints (people of God) and apostles and prophets, because God has executed vengeance for you upon her!

MOVEMENT EIGHT. Then a single powerful angel took up a boulder like a great millstone and flung it into the sea, crying, With such violence shall Babylon the great city be hurled down to destruction and shall never again be found. And the sound of harpists and musicians and flutists and trumpeters will never again be heard in you, and no skilled artisan of any craft will ever again be found in you, and the sound of the millstone [grinding grain] will never again be heard in you [for commerce will no longer flourish, and normal life will cease]. And never again will the light of a lamp shine in you, and never again will the voice of the bridegroom and bride be heard in you; for your merchants were the great and prominent men of the earth, because all the nations were deceived and misled by your sorcery [your magic spells and poisonous charm]. And in Babylon was found the blood of prophets and of saints (God’s people) and of all those who have been slaughtered on the earth.” – ISAIAH 13:1-3, 9-13, 19-22; REVELATION 18:1-24, AMPC

III. POSTLUDE

To complete my report of what I dare to say was something close to a Divine Visitation concerning America and the Nations, I was taken to the poetry of JOHN DONNE, finally to settle upon, “Death Be Not Proud” (1633) – among the most powerful repudiations of the power of human death ever written.

THE POET. “John Donne (1572-1631), widely known as “The Metaphysical Poet” for his depth of thoughtful reflections, was born into a prominent Catholic family but converted to the Church of England in his twenties.  At the age of eleven he entered Oxford University for a period of three years, and then Cambridge, but he never took a degree.  In 1615, he became an Anglican priest, and in 1621, the Dean of Saint Paul’s Cathedral.  Donne’s poetry, prose and sermons were famous for their eloquence, subtlety, psychological analysis, and sheer brilliance, especially as they described the complex Paradoxes of the Human Condition.” – DAN CLENDENIN, Journey with Jesus, ret.  “Death, be not proud, though some have called thee

Mighty and dreadful, for thou art not so;

For those whom thou think’st thou dost overthrow

Die not, poor Death, nor yet canst thou kill me.

From rest and sleep, which but thy pictures be,

Much pleasure; then from thee much more must flow,

And soonest our best men with thee do go,

Rest of their bones, and soul’s delivery.

Thou art slave to fate, chance, kings, and desperate men,

And dost with poison, war, and sickness dwell,

CODA. Therefore, as we dwell deep inside what seems like the very Belly of the Beast in America in 2025, there is yet a ‘Relentless Spark of Life’ from the mouths of Man and of His God.

Listen carefully, beloved: I tell you a Mystery as our Conclusion.

“I assure you, most solemnly I tell you, ‘Unless a grain of wheat falls into the earth and dies, it remains [just one grain; it never becomes more but lives] by itself alone. But if it dies, it produces many others and yields a rich harvest.’” – JOHN 12:24, AMPC

This is the very Word of our Soon Coming King to us all, as we move from the Kingdom of Darkness to the Eternal Kingdom of Light, wherein there shall be no more Darkness ever again!
