NOTES ON THE JUDGMENT OF DAMASCUS: A PROPHECY WHOSE TIME HAS BECOME FULL – (WITH VIDEO)

1. THEOLOGY

SCRIPTURE. “The words of Amos, who was among the herdsmen and sheep masters of Tekoa, which he saw [in divine revelation] concerning Israel in the days of Uzziah king of Judah and in the days of Jeroboam the son of Joash, king of Israel, two years before the earthquake. And he said, ‘The Lord roars out of Zion and utters His voice from Jerusalem; then the pastures of the shepherds mourn and the top of [Mount] Carmel dries up.’

Thus says the Lord: ‘For three transgressions of Damascus [the capital of Syria] and for four [for multiplied delinquencies], I will not reverse the punishment of it or revoke My word concerning it, because they have threshed Gilead [east of the Jordan River] with iron sledges. So I will send a fire [of war, conquest, and destruction] upon the house of Hazael [who killed and succeeded King Ben-hadad] which shall devour the palaces and strongholds of Ben-hadad. I will break also the bar [of the gate] of Damascus and cut off the inhabitant from the plain of Aven or On, and him who holds the scepter from Beth-eden; and the people of Syria [conquered by the Assyrians] shall go into exile to Kir,’ says the Lord.” – AMOS 1:1-5, AMPC

KEY TERM: “FIRE!” ‘Esh’ [אֵשׂ]: “Burning, flaming, blazing, fiery, hot.” NOTE: “אֵשׂ (ʾēšh) designates literal flame, heat, or burning material and is used figuratively for passion, anger, judgment, purification, and ‘Divine Presence.’ It occurs about 377 times, making it one of the most vivid motifs in the Hebrew Canon. Genesis 3:24 introduces fire indirectly through the ‘Flaming Sword’ guarding Eden. The first explicit appearance is Genesis 19:24, where the LORD rains down ‘sulfur and fire’ on Sodom and Gomorrah. From the outset, ‘Fire is associated with Holiness’ that protects and with Judgment that eradicates sin.”

QUOTATION. “In the Old Testament, the Hebrew Prophets were given Prophecies of a series of wars in the Middle East beginning with the 1991 Operation Desert Storm and the 2003 Operation Enduring Freedom. ‘The Prophets Isaiah, Jeremiah and Amos indicated that there will be a WAR WITH ISRAEL AND SYRIA that will lead to the disappearance of Damascus as one of the premiere cities in the world.’

The City of Damascus is the oldest continuously inhabited city on the planet.’ The City has witnessed at least 5,000 years of human history, and some historians believe the city actually dates back to the Seventh Millennium BC. In fact, Paul was on the Road to Damascus when Jesus Christ first appeared to him, an Event that transformed not only his life, but the course of human history. ‘Just before the Lord Jesus Christ is Revealed from Heaven to pour out His Judgement on the Nations, Damascus will once again play a major role in the prophetic plan of G-d.’” – AUTHOR (Anonymous), The Apocalypse Timeline, ret. COMMENTARY. “‘For three transgressions,’ &c. — The Prophet first denounces judgments against foreign countries, and afterward comes to Judah and Israel. He begins with Syria, the head or Capital City of which was Damascus. By the expression, ‘For three transgressions and for four,’ used here, and repeatedly afterward, he means, ‘many or multiplied transgressions,’ a certain number being put, according to a very common way of speaking, for an ‘Uncertain [Date].’ So we read, Job 5:19, He shall deliver thee in six troubles; yea, in seven no evil shall touch thee:’ see the like phrase, Proverbs 6:16; Ecclesiastes 11:2; Micah 5:5. Once and twice are used, Psalm 62:11; twice and thrice, Job 33:29 (Hebrews). So that the meaning here is, that on account of the frequent transgressions of Damascus, God was now resolved no longer to spare it. 

‘Because they have thrashed Gilead,’ &c. — This alludes to the thrashing- ‘drag,’ or thrashing-wain, used in the Eastern countries, and described in the note on Isaiah 28:27, which say: ‘These instruments, being drawn by horses, or oxen, over the corn-sheaves spread on the floor, were proper and significant emblems of the ‘Tyrannical power of Syria,’ which cruelly oppressed and crushed the weak Gileadites, and other Israelites.’ It is probable that the cruelties exercised on them by Hazael and Ben-hadad, Kings of Syria, are chiefly intended. II. TEACHING

Here I travel once again where my academic feet have only lightly tread in past days, in actually ‘Prophesying a Future Event.’ Though I most certainly do not go there alone! I am accompanied by the Spirit of the Living God superintending the Word of the Lord and my understanding of it, plus an arsenal of wiser scholars who have preceded me.

To Wit:

THESIS. ‘Israel shall soon attack Damascus with nuclear power to utterly destroy that City in fulfillment of Ancient Prophecy, just prior to the Lord’s Return for His Remnant Church and Judgment of the Nations.’

Selah. Pause indeed, take a deep breath and most profoundly and prayerfully reflect on this proposal in the days immediately ahead. Then follow with obedience to Christ’s Command: “Watch therefore, for you do not know what hour your Lord is coming.” – MATTHEW 24:42, NKJV

WATCH! The Greek term for “Watch” is ‘Grégoreó’ [γρηγορεῖτε]: “To keep awake, be vigilant, stay watchful!” NOTE: “Matthew 24:42, 44 and Mark 13:33-37 place ‘Watchfulness’ at the heart of Readiness for the Second Coming. Jesus likens His Return to a Master coming unexpectedly from a journey or to a Thief in the night.

The Command is Unequivocal: Jesus warned Sardis [the ‘Dead Church’]: “WAKE UP! And strengthen what remains and is about to die.” (Revelation 3:2). The Church’s reputation today masks its true ‘Spiritual Lethargy;’ only Vigilant Repentance can avert sudden Judgment.”

ISRAEL VS. SYRIA (ANCIENT). To best understand my Thesis it will be helpful to take a brief look at the Ancient Struggles between these two Nations and Peoples over the Millennia. The AI Overview below (ret. July 31, 2025; edited) nicely accomplishes that for us.

Israel and Syria, particularly the Aramean Kingdom centered in Damascus, had a long and often contentious relationship throughout ANCIENT TIMES. Their interactions ranged from Periods of Conflict and Warfare to occasional Alliances and Treaties. 

• EARLY CONFLICTS. Accounts describe battles between the United Kingdom of Israel under King David and the Arameans in the 10th century BC, where David subdued them and established garrisons in Aram-Damascus, collecting tribute. DK: ‘The Power of Origins’ are considerable to be carefully noted here.

• 9TH CENTURY BC. Later, Aram-Damascus, under kings like Ben-Hadad and Hazael, became a more powerful State and a formidable adversary to the Divided Kingdoms of Israel and Judah. Hazael, in particular, waged war against Israel, devastating parts of the Kingdom and expanding his influence to the Golan and even to the Sea of Galilee. The Bible recounts a series of conflicts between Aram-Damascus and Israel/Samaria, described in 1 Kings 20 and 2 Kings 6-7.

• SYRO-EPHRAITE WAR (736–732 BC). This War involved an alliance between Aram-Damascus and the Kingdom of Israel against the Kingdom of Judah. The goal was to force Judah to join an Anti-Assyrian Coalition, according to BYU Scholars Archive. Judah was defeated, suffering significant losses and the capture of many citizens, according to 2 Chronicles 28. Ahaz, king of Judah, sought help from Tiglath-Pileser III of Assyria, leading to Assyrian intervention and the eventual annexation of Aram-Damascus and the destruction of Israel.

• HAZAEL’S CAMPAIGN. After defeating Israel, Hazael of Aram-Damascus conquered the Philistine city-state of Gath and then turned his attention towards Judah, threatening Jerusalem. Archaeological evidence corroborates destruction layers at sites in the central coastal plain and Philistia, consistent with Hazael’s campaigns in the late 9th century BC.

• BATTLE OF QUARQAR (853 BC). Despite the general hostility, Israel (under King Ahab) and Aram-Damascus (under King Ben-Hadad) joined forces in a Coalition to resist the encroaching Assyrian Empire under Shalmaneser III. This Alliance is documented on Shalmaneser III’s Kurkh Monoliths.

• POST-WAR TREATIES. After victories, there were instances where Terms of Peace were negotiated, such as the Treaty between Ahab and Ben-Hadad after the Battle of Aphek, where lands were restored and commercial privileges were established. 

ISRAEL VS. SYRIA (MODERN). Following a comparatively quiet Inter-Testament Period, we see the Ignition of even Deadlier Wars following the Declaration of the State of Israel on May 12, 1948.

• 1948 ARAB-ISRAELI: Following the establishment of the State of Israel, Syria joined other Arab nations in invading the newly formed country. This War established the borders between Israel, the West Bank, and the Gaza Strip, and initiated the Palestinian Refugee Crisis.

• THE NAKBA. An Historical and Ongoing Catastrophe for Palestinians. The term “Nakba,” Arabic for “Catastrophe,” refers to the cruel and violent displacement and dispossession of Palestinian Arabs during the 1948 Palestine War that coincided with the creation of the State of Israel. It’s more than an historical event; it’s considered an ongoing process of displacement, dispossession, and the suppression of Palestinian identity and aspirations. 

• 1967 SIX DAY WAR. Israel launched a Preemptive Strike against Egypt and Syria, leading to a decisive victory and Israel’s capture of the Golan Heights from Syria, the Gaza Strip and Sinai Peninsula from Egypt, and the West Bank (including East Jerusalem) from Jordan. ‘The Golan Heights, a strategically crucial plateau, remains a Point of Contention between Israel and Syria.’ Israel formally annexed the territory in 1981.

• 1973 YOM KIPPUR WAR. Syria, alongside Egypt, launched a Surprise Attack on Israel in an attempt to regain territories lost in 1967, including the Golan Heights. Although caught off guard, Israel ultimately repelled the attack, thanks in part to a resupply effort by the United States. A Ceasefire Agreement was signed between Israel and Syria in May 1974, according to Reuters.

• 1982 LEBANON WAR. Israel intervened in the Lebanese Civil War with the goal of expelling the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO) from southern Lebanon. Syria, a major player in Lebanon at the time, was also involved in the Conflict. The War resulted in the PLO’s expulsion and the creation of an Israeli Security Zone in Southern Lebanon. 

• RECENT ISRAELI STRIKES. ‘Recent Israeli strikes in Syria targeted military facilities in DAMASCUS’ – Including areas near the Presidential Palace and the Syrian Defense Ministry, following clashes between Syrian Government Forces and Druze Militias in southern Syria. These strikes are part of a broader campaign by Israel to deter hostile forces from establishing a presence near its borders and protect the Druze. The strikes also come after days of clashes involving Syrian government forces in the southern region of Sweida, a Druze stronghold. DK: The Druze area a religious sect known as the Al-Muwahhidūn (lit. ‘the Monotheists‘ or ‘the Unitarians’), a non-Muslim somewhat secret religious society.

WHY DAMASCUS? An underlying Corollary in my overall Thesis concerning why such a vicious punishment of the entire City of Damascus is required. I found that this region was the EPICENTER OF BA’AL WORSHIP, the virtual Arch-Foe of the Jewish God, Yahweh, in ancient times. Here is an AI Overview (ret. TRANSITION. So now the Stage is Set for what I believe will be the next Major and Catastrophic Escalation in the Middle East, whereby the IDF will find itself compelled to utterly destroy Damascus in a single Nuclear Strike.

III. THE DESTRUCTION OF DAMASCUS

“The mournful, inspired prediction (a burden to be lifted up) concerning Damascus [capital of Syria, and Israel’s bulwark against Assyria]. Behold, Damascus will cease to be a city and will become a heap of ruins.” – ISAIAH 17:1, AMPC

“Concerning and against Damascus [in Syria]: Hamath and Arpad are confounded and put to shame, for they have heard bad news; they are fainthearted and wasting away; there is trouble and anxiety [like] on a [storm-tossed] sea which cannot rest. Damascus has become feeble; she has turned to flee, and terror and panic have seized her; anguish and sorrow have taken hold of her, like a woman in childbirth. How [remarkable that] the renowned city is not deserted, the city of my joy! [exclaims one from Damascus]. Therefore her young men shall fall in her streets, and all her soldiers shall be destroyed in that day, says the Lord of hosts. And I will kindle a fire in the wall of Damascus, and it will consume the palaces of Ben-hadad [title of several kings of Syria].” – JEREMIAH 49:23-27, AMPC

KEYWORD: “‘CEASE’ (TO BE A CITY).” ‘Sur’ [סוּר]: “A primitive root meaning, ‘To turn off.’ ALSO: ‘To call back or [utterly] decline; to pluck away and left completely undone; to be removed [from existence].’” NOTE: “The verb סוּר spans the breadth of Old Testament revelation, appearing in almost every corpus—from Genesis through Malachi—depicting: ‘The act of turning, departing, removing, or causing something or someone to turn.’ Whether it is a heart drifting from Covenant Loyalty, an Idol lifted out of sacred space, or Yahweh’s Wrath deployed, סוּר portrays: ‘A decisive change of position or direction, both physical and spiritual.’”

Now then, before the necessary debate begins since this is a Reasonable Hypothesis rather than an absolute Word from the Lord, one Indisputable Reality remains clear:

In the roughly 7,000 History of Mankind, Damascus has never, ever been utterly destroyed. Ever!

“While it has faced numerous sieges, battles, and destructions throughout its long history, it has always been rebuilt and re-inhabited. For instance, the French army bombed the city in 1925, destroying a significant portion of the Western District, but the City was subsequently rebuilt. Similarly, the Syrian Civil War [2011-2024] has caused extensive damage to Damascus, but it has not been completely destroyed.” – AI Overview, ret. THE ONE-HOUR WAR. To continue my Thesis of a Nuclear Destruction of Damascus, given the utter devastation that is rendered in what appears like a single catastrophic blow (as over against a sustained military campaign), here is what I find in a variety of Research Annals – some Christian, some Secular. 

• TRIGGERS. “‘Israel launched powerful airstrikes in Damascus on Wednesday [July 16, 2025]’ – blowing up part of the Defence Ministry and hitting near the Presidential Palace as it vowed to destroy government forces attacking Druze in southern Syria and demanded they withdraw. The attacks marked a significant Israeli Escalation against the Islamist-led administration of interim President Ahmed al-Sharaa. They came despite his warming ties with the U.S. and his administration’s evolving security contacts with Israel.” – Reuters, July 16, 2025; edited

• NUCLEAR. “The claim that Damascus will be destroyed by Nuclear Fire is a common interpretation of Biblical Prophecies, specifically Isaiah 17 and Jeremiah 49, which describe the City’s destruction. These Prophecies, however, are subject to various interpretations, and some believe they refer to Future Events [Futurist] while others see them as Fulfilled or Allegorical [Preterist-Historicist-Idealist]. ‘The Interpretation of Nuclear Fire is based on the perceived Scale and Suddenness of the Destruction described in the Prophecies, which some believe could only be achieved by WMD weaponry.’” – AI Overview, ret. • DESCRIPTION. “‘A single nuclear weapon can destroy a city and kill most of its people. Several nuclear explosions over modern cities would kill tens of millions of people.’

Casualties from a major Nuclear War between the US and Russia would reach hundreds of millions. It takes around 10 seconds for the fireball from a nuclear explosion to reach its maximum size. 

A nuclear explosion releases vast amounts of energy in the form of blast, heat and radiation. An enormous shockwave reaches speeds of many hundreds of kilometres an hour. The blast kills people close to ground zero, and causes lung injuries, ear damage and internal bleeding further away. People sustain injuries from collapsing buildings and flying objects. Thermal radiation is so intense that almost everything close to ground zero is vaporized. Even people in underground shelters face likely death due to a lack of oxygen and carbon monoxide poisoning. In the long-term, nuclear weapons produce ionizing radiation, which kills or sickens those exposed, contaminates the environment, and has long-term health consequences, including cancer and genetic damage. Their widespread use in atmospheric testing has caused grave long-term consequences. Physicians project that some 2.4 million people worldwide will eventually die from cancers due to atmospheric nuclear tests conducted between 1945 and 1980.”

‘These are the Baldfaced Realities of a Nuclear Tipped World in the Brink.’ Past time to Awaken to them, Church, though by all rational and spiritual assessments, you are in what constitutes a STAGE 3 NREM SLEEP (Deepest Slumber Possible).So here follow Biblical Truths that are designed to wake you up, stat!

IF such can be achieved at this Late Time in God’s Scheme of Things.

IV. LAST THOUGHTS

In my most recent book on Political Eschatology, The Sixth Seal II: A Pre-Wrath Redux of the Rise of Donald Trump and the Decline of the American Order (2024), I describe in detail FIVE ENDTIME WARS that the Scriptures predict must take place before all Last Things are accomplished.

These Five Conflicts are proposed in a Rough Chronology, each one leading to larger battles. All Scriptures that follow are rendered in the New King James Version.

• AMERICAN CIVIL WAR. “Now brother will betray brother to death, and a father his child; and children will rise up against parents and cause them to be put to death.” – Mark 13:12

• PSALM 83 WAR. “Do not keep silent, O God! Do not hold Your peace, and do not be still, O God! For behold, Your enemies make a tumult And those who hate You have lifted up their head. They have taken crafty counsel against Your people, and consulted together against Your sheltered ones. They have said, ‘Come, and let us cut them off from being a nation,  more.’” – Psalm 83:1-4

• ISAIAH 17 WAR. “Behold, Damascus will cease from being a city, and it will be a ruinous heap.” – Isaiah 17:1

• EZEKIEL 38 WAR. “Thus says the Lord God: ‘Behold, I am against you, O Gog, the prince of Rosh, Meshech, and Tubal. I will turn you around, put hooks into your jaws, and lead you out, with all your army, horses, and horsemen, all splendidly clothed, a great company with bucklers and shields, all of them handling swords. Persia, Ethiopia, and Libya are with them, all of them with shield and helmet; Gomer and all its troops; the house of Togarmah from the far north and all its troops—many people are with you. Prepare yourself and be ready, you and all your companies that are gathered about you; and be a guard for them. After many days you will be visited. In the latter years you will come into the land of those brought back from the sword and gathered from many people on the mountains of Israel, which had long been desolate; they were brought out of the nations, and now all of them dwell safely.’” – Ezekiel 38:3-8

Blessed is he who watches, and keeps his garments, lest he walk naked and they see his shame.’ And they gathered them together to the place called in Hebrew, Armageddon.” – Revelation 16:12-16

CODA. Beloved:We must recognize that we are in that Eschatological Spin Cycle as it were, during which God and Satan will roll out their increasingly lethal firepower in these Last Wars of the End of the Age. And we are truly honored to be selected for this Highest of Duty Assignments. Selah.

In my Concluding Remarks on these matters pertaining to The Second Seal Judgments (War), I proposed that each of these Conflagrations serve as both the Consequences of prior wars, and triggers to subsequent wars. In their intrinsically dispassionate summary of this Principle of Cause and Effect, I close with an AI Overview (ret. Aug. 1, 2025; edited) in response to THE QUESTION I posed:
