NOTES ON THE RESCUE OF KING HEZEKIAH: AMERICA’S LAST CALLS TO SET HER HOUSE IN ORDER Part III

PART III: YAH’S EXTENSION OF NEW LIFE

SCRIPTURE. “Do not [earnestly] remember the former things; neither consider the things of old. Behold, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs forth; do you not perceive and know it and will you not give heed to it? I will even make a way in the wilderness and rivers in the desert.” – ISAIAH 43:18-19, AMPC

QUOTATIONS

“‘I am looking for someone to share in an Adventure that I am arranging, and it’s very difficult to find anyone.’ ‘I should think so — in these parts! We are plain quiet folk and have no use for adventures. Nasty disturbing uncomfortable things! Make you late for dinner!’” – J.R.R. TOLKIEN, ‘The Hobbit, or There and Back Again,’ 1937; edited

“We choose to go to the Moon in this decade and do the other things, not because they are easy, but because they are hard; because that goal will serve to organize and measure the best of our energies and skills, because that challenge is one that we are willing to accept, one we are unwilling to postpone, and one we intend to win, and the others, too.” – PRESIDENT JOHN FITZGERALD KENNEDY, “We Choose to Go to the Moon,” Address delivered to Rice University, Houston Stadium, September 12, 1962; edited

“If we stay where we are, where we’re stuck, where we’re comfortable and safe, we die there. We become like mushrooms, living in the dark, with poop up to our chins. If you want to know only what you already know, you’re dying. You’re saying: ‘Leave me alone; I don’t mind this little rathole. It’s warm and dry. Really, it’s fine.’ When nothing New can get in, that’s death. When oxygen can’t find a way in, you die. But New is scary, and New can be disappointing, and confusing – we had this all figured out, and now we don’t. New is Life.” – ANNE LAMOTT, ‘Help, Thanks, Wow: The Three Essential Prayers,’ 2012; edited

RISK: “To hazard; to endanger; to expose to injury or loss; as, to risk goods on board of a ship; to risk one’s person in battle; to risk one’s fame by a publication; to risk life in defense of rights. To venture; to dare to undertake; as, to risk a battle or combat.” – NOAH WEBSTER, ‘American Dictionary of the English Language,’ 1828

  1. FIRST THOUGHTS

Most writers of Political Eschatology have unconsciously committed the collective error, in the attempt to avoid the ‘Softer, friendlier American Gospel,’ of making the Days of the Apocalypse so terrifying, so horrific and so hopeless, that no one would dare desire to Traverse any of it.

But we were wrong, and here’s why.

THE PROMISE. Like the stunning, joyful, soul-wrenching, trepidatious, yet deeply satisfying Heroism of Tolkien’s Hobbits in his classic Trilogy, the Last Days are, for the true follower of Jesus Christ, designed to be ‘hard,’ because truly Great Things only issue from great sacrifice, supreme effort and yes, great risk bathed in much prayer.

This is precisely why I have sensed the Lord prodding me to state to you all plainly: This very time is envisioned by God to be ‘Our finest Hour’ – A truly ‘Great Adventure – if we shall dare it.

ADVENTURE. “1. Hazard; a risk; chance; that of which one has no direction; as, at all adventures, that is, at all hazards. [See Venture.] 2. An enterprize of hazard; a bold undertaking, in which hazards are to be encountered, and the issue is staked upon unforeseen events. 3. That which is put to hazard; a sense in popular use with seamen, and usually pronounced venture.” – WEBSTER, 1828

When we signed on to become members to God’s Army, we did not sign up for the Summer Cruise that lots of folks promised us. Neither did they tell us about the very real Perils of truly following in the footsteps of the Master.

Mostly because, as some of us have written of late, the Church had adopted that insidious, post-1990s ‘Seeker Friendly’ gospel, in which the concepts of danger and risk and personal sacrifice were gradually disposed of. Thus, they did not Prepare us for what past generations understood we are to become.

And just what was that?

  1. WARRORS FOR CHRIST

I have written before about the need for a Return to a Church Militant Model of the Faith, especially for these Last Times of being challenged to Stand for Truth against the ferocity of a Postmodern, ‘Post-Truth’ world.

One wise Pastor writes insightfully about all this.

“Being a Christian and a Warrior are two ideas seldom connected in the modern world. Many people associate Christianity more with weakness than strength. Some prefer to think of Christians as soft, pliable, and accommodating. Others have far worse opinions of Christians. Sadly, I can think of more than one example that reinforces a bad stereotype. However, I’m convinced Christians should be Warriors.

Let me explain…

I’ll start with a Qualification: I’m not remotely suggesting that Christian ideals or spiritual change should be enacted through physical violence, making bombs, or any other crazy and Unbiblical idea. I am referring to the embrace of a Warrior’s Ethic and Mindset. If Christians embraced the ethic and discipline of Warriors, our world would see radical change. I believe this Shift would cause an unparalleled Resurgence of strength, leadership, sacrifice, courage, and love in our world. Below are a few observations on embracing a Warrior’s Ethic as a Christian.” – DACE CLINTON, “Being a Warrior for God,” July 10, 2019; edited

Mr. Clinton then completes this idea of Warriors for Christ by proposing Two Qualities that we must possess and enact, in order to succeed in honorably representing the King.

  1. HUMILITY, defined by the Greek, ‘Prautés’ [πρᾳΰτης], meaning: “Gentle-force; begins with the Lord’s inspiration and finishes by His direction and empowerment; it is an inwrought grace of the soul and the expressions of it are chiefly toward God. That attitude of spirit in which we accept God’s dealings with us as good, and do not dispute or resist. According to Aristotle…it is getting angry at the right time, in the right measure, and for the right reason…a condition of mind and heart which demonstrates gentleness not in weakness but power. It is a Virtue born in strength of character.”
  1. SACRIFICE. Taken from the Greek word, ‘Thuó’ [θύω]: “To slay; to destroy, surrender or suffer to be lost for the sake of obtaining something [greater than oneself]. We should never sacrifice health to pleasure, nor integrity to fame; rather, an act of offering to Deity something precious, especially [in the Christian context] ones’ self in service to the King, Jesus Christ (with no conditions or reservations whatsoever).” As Paul writes: ‘Therefore I urge you, brothers and sisters, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies [dedicating all of yourselves, set apart] as a living sacrifice, holy and well-pleasing to God, which is your rational (logical, intelligent) act of worship.’”  –   cf. ROMANS 12:1

IN SUM. My Purpose for writing about such matters is Twofold. ONE, to Restore such original thinking to the followers of Christ as members of the Church Remnant (as over against the Church Regnant). TWO, to thereby Prepare us for the difficult days ahead, in full spiritual and intellectual battle array, fighting to both Defend (as Apologists), or Advance (as Polemicists) the Cause of Christ.

OUR MISSON: RESCUE OF THE LOST. Whether from ‘Inside’ the House, or from ‘Outside’ the House. For in this Hour, both are in need of such Rescue. As the Apostle and brother to Jesus wrote of this vital Last Days Mission for the Era of Apostasy in which we are presently engaged:

“And have mercy on some, who are doubting; save others, snatching them out of the fire; and on some have mercy but with fear, loathing even the clothing spotted and polluted by their shameless immoral freedom.” – JUDE 1:22-23, AMP

THE GREAT DISTINCTION. We have said and seen much in recent days of ‘God’s Great Sifting’ going on all around and among us. Now listen ever so carefully to some detailed Instruction about that Sifting, in relation to the passage from Jude.

“A certain measure of Spiritual Discernment is necessary in dealing with Victims of Apostasy. The Scriptures make a distinction between the way we should handle those who are active Propagandists of false cults and those who have been Duped by them.  In the case of the Leaders and Propagandists [Pastors], the policy is given in 2 John 10-11: ‘If anyone comes to you in and does not bring this doctrine, do not receive him into your house nor greet him; for he who greets him shares in his evil deeds.’ But in speaking of those who have been Deceived by false teachers, Jude counsels making ‘a Distinction’ and gives two separate courses of action.

On some we should have ‘Compassion.’ That is, we should show a compassionate interest in them and try to guide them out of doubts and disputations into a firm conviction of Divine Truth. Then there are those who are on the verge of The Precipice, ready to fall over into the Flames of Apostasy. These we are to save by strong, resolute Warning and Instruction, hating even the garment defiled by the flesh…

So in dealing with people who have become Defiled, we must be careful to avoid anything which might prove a temptation in our own lives. An unknown author expressed it like this: ‘The clothes that belong to a man have about them the association and infection of sin, the contagion of evil. Whatever is associated with a life of sin should be cast off and renounced, if we are to be safe from the infection and contagion of this soul-destroying disease.’” – WILLIAM MACDONALD, ‘Believer’s Bible Commentary,’ 1995, pp. 2345-2346; edited

MY TAKE. This sort of Defilement in the Age of Trump overwhelmingly involves the Cult of Personality and False Teaching that comes with the Alt Right Nationalism that dares to combine Christianity with arcane and seditious Political Ideology. I tell you this is the very Death of Faith, and we must decide between: (a) those we discern as Humble enough to listen, versus (b) those who are too Stubborn and Proud to listen.

To the Former we offer ourselves as judicious and patient Servants of the Truth. To the Latter, we may have to ‘Shake the dust from our sandals’ – wait for it – “in contempt,” not looking behind, as with Lot’s wife. – cf. Genesis 19:26; Matthew 10:14

  1. THE CHURCH IN THE LAST DAYS

As we prepare for the Days ahead, then, let’s review further a bit about what the Last Days Church will have to confront. For in the words of the late Dr. Francis Schaeffer: “Truth carries with it confrontation. Truth demands confrontation; loving confrontation, but confrontation nevertheless.” – ‘The Great Evangelical Disaster,’ 1984

The Church Remnant-Militant cannot shrink from this Sacred Call one day longer, if she is to be an effective Bulwark against the rampant Evil that encroaches all around, even as I write these words.

I adapted this next section from an excellent Overview of this subject from the EDITORS of ‘Bible.org,’ from their excellent series, “The Bible Teacher’s Guide, Second Timothy: Guarding the Good Deposit,” ret. November 22, 2020; edited

Best Summary of Paul’s description of Our Era I have read in some time. I quote it at some length for that very reason, as superbly rich study for us.

CHARACTERISTICS OF THE LAST DAYS CHURCH. “In 2 Timothy, one of the major themes is ‘Suffering for Christ.’ Paul is in prison for his faith awaiting a death sentence, and he calls Timothy to suffer with him as a good soldier of Christ (2 Timothy 2:3). Christians are being persecuted throughout the Roman Empire. However, in this passage, Paul is not talking about suffering from without but suffering from within. Some of our greatest sufferings, as Christians, often come from people within God’s Church.

Paul says, ‘But understand this,’ or it can be translated, ‘But realize this’ (NASB). There are some things we must realize about the Church, and if we don’t, we may become disillusioned or even fall away. Sadly, many have fallen away because they didn’t recognize the state or condition of The Times. In describing the state of the Church in the Last Days, Paul says it will be ‘difficult’ times. This word can be translated ‘terrible,’ ‘perilous,’ or ‘violent.’ It was used one other time in the New Testament to describe the two demoniacs in the region of the Gadarenes; they were so violent that nobody could pass by them (Matthew 8:28). This may imply that these terrible times will be inspired by demons.”

CHURCH FULL OF FALSE BELIEVERS. As we continue to read Paul’s words, we find that the Terrible Times will not be bad because of difficult events but because [they will be full of] ‘Evil People.’ This is what will make these last days so terrible. There will be many in the Church who profess Christianity but look nothing like their Lord and Savior. In verse 5, Paul says that they had an ‘outward appearance of religion’ but ‘repudiated its power.’ This means that they had the outer trappings of Christianity—they went to church, sang hymns, gave their tithes, went on mission trips—but lived Ungodly Lives that proved they had never experienced Christ’s saving power.

This is exactly what Christ warned the disciples of in the Parables of the Kingdom in Matthew 13. Christ said the Kingdom of Heaven is tares and wheat (vv. 36-43), and good and bad fish (vv. 47-50)—essentially True and False believers. He also describes the Kingdom as yeast hidden in flour, which spreads throughout the lump (v. 33). Yeast typically refers to False Doctrine (Matthew 16:11-12) or sin (1 Corinthians 5:6); therefore, Christ described how Evil would spread and saturate the Church at various stages of history. The current state of the Kingdom is a Mixture of Good and Evil. It is scary!

This Reality often leads to Disillusionment and Apostasy—Satan’s very intent in planting tares, bad fish, and leaven. No doubt, this is the reason that Paul warned Timothy. In 2 Timothy 3:1-5, Paul gives Nineteen Negative Characteristics of many professing believers during these difficult times [see 2 Timothy 3:1-9 or the article for the list].”

CHURCH FULL OF FALSE TEACHERS. Paul next describes many of the teachers in these churches and ministries. When he says, they ‘insinuate themselves into households’ in the Greek, it is actually ‘the households’ with a definite article (v. 6). This means these homes were obviously well-known. He probably was referring to the house churches where people gathered for worship. These were typically the homes of wealthy church members (cf. Colossians 4:15Romans 16:5Acts 16:40).”

The Authors then cite Nine Characteristics of False Teachers, including: “1. False Teachers are deceptive. 2. False Teachers seek to ‘gain control’ over people. 3. False Teachers often focus their attacks on women. 4. False Teachers prey on people’s problems promising quick solutions. 5. False Teachers prey upon those who are always searching for ‘new truth.’ 6. False Teachers oppose the Truth and instigate rebellion against God and godly leaders. 7. False Teachers often perform false and lying miracles. 8. False Teachers are unregenerate and therefore have unregenerate thinking. 9. False Teachers will eventually be exposed.

APPLICATIONS WE CAN MAKE. Thus in order to effectively Prepare Spirituall for the Days to come, there are at least FOUR THINGS we must do to Get Ready.

  1. EXAMINE OUR SALVATION. “Second Corinthians 13:5 says, ‘Put yourselves to the test to see if you are in the faith; examine yourselves! Or do you not recognize regarding yourselves that Jesus Christ is in you—unless, indeed, you fail the test! Christ said in the Last Days many will say to Him, ‘Lord, Lord’ but He will respond, ‘Depart from me, you workers of iniquity, I never knew you’ (Matthew 7:21-23). That type of False Faith will be increasingly common in the Church, as we get closer to Christ’s Coming. It will be religion without relationship, form without power, a shell without life. We must test ourselves to see if we are saved.”
  1. MAKE SURE CHRIST IS OUR FIRST LOVE. “The root problem of the end-time church is self-love. They love themselves more than God, which results in many other sins—love of money, love of pleasure, lack of family love, pride, abusiveness, etc. This can happen to us as well if we don’t love God first. In Revelation 2:4-5, Christ rebuked the Church of Ephesus for this sin. He said, ‘But I have this against you: You have departed from your first love! Therefore, remember from what high state you have fallen and repent! Do the deeds you did at the first; if not, I will come to you and remove your lampstand from its place—that is, if you do not repent.’ Christ promised them Judgment if they didn’t Repent for their lack of love for God. No doubt, this lack of love was causing other sins in their lives, as it does with ours.”
  1. TEST EVERYTHING BY SCRIPTURE. “Like the Bereans in Acts 17:11, we must test everything through Scripture to see if it’s of God: Is the Bible being preached or is Scripture simply a launching point for worldly anecdotes? Are my experiences Biblical or just something that feels good? The Word of God equips the man of God for ‘every good work’ (2 Timothy 3:16-17). If it doesn’t pass the Biblical Test, it should be discarded. If we hold onto Scripture, we’ll be kept from the waves of False Doctrine and lying miracles in the church.”
  1. UNDERSTAND OUR CALL TO PERSEVERE IN LOVE [AND TRUTH]. “Many have given up on the church because they have experienced hurt, betrayal, and abuse during these terrible times. However, Christ said the gates of Hades will not prevail against the church (Matthew 16:18)—Satan’s works will not ultimately prevail against her. Also, Christ loved the church and gave his life for her—knowing her imperfections (Ephesians 5:25-27). We must love her as well and be faithful to her, even when she is unfaithful. In this season, there are tares, bad fish, and leaven within her, but God will ultimately Purify and Restore her. And in this Season, we are part of that Restoration. We must Persevere in Love [and Truth], and minister [both] to the Church, even as our Lord does.”

THE PHILADELPHIA PROTOCOL. The reason I added to this otherwise Superb Teaching, is because, like so many other well-intentioned offerings, it forgets the Ideal Template by which we Measure Spiritual Integrity: The Church at Philadelphia, that exhibited Three Distinguishing Characteristics:

  1. They had “a little [supernatural] power.”
  2. They had “kept My word” of truth and sound doctrine.
  3. They had not “denied My name,” even when it was dangerous.

Therefore, the Messiah set before this group of Christians, “AN OPEN DOOR, and no one can shut it.” By which He meant, the Divinely appointed opportunity to preach and teach the Truth to the entire world. – cf. Revelation 3:7-13; emphasis my own

  1. THE TEACHING

THE RIGHT STUFF. Borrowing from those Intrepid Astronauts about whom John Kennedy was describing in his powerful address at Rice University, I love this phrase. I quote this Definition straight from THOMAS WOLFE, whose epic book, ‘The Right Stuff’ (1979) made the saying commonplace in American households.

“After all, the right stuff was not bravery in the simple sense of being willing to risk your life (by riding on top of a Redstone or Atlas rocket). Any fool could do that (and many fools would no doubt volunteer, given the opportunity), just as any fool could throw his life away in the process. No, the idea (as all pilots understood) was that a man should have the ability to go up in a hurtling piece of machinery and put his hide on the line and have the moxie, the reflexes, the experience, the coolness, to pull it back at the last yawning moment—but how in the name of God could you either hang it out or haul it back if you were a lab animal sealed in a pod?”

‘WILLING TO RISK.’ This then, the absolute core element in making the Courageous Commitment to God to pursue any Great Enterprise that He defines for us. It means, quite simply and bluntly ‘Risking all,’ as with the Space Adventurers, for Christ and Kingdom. All, importantly, without any reservation whatsoever.

To These Instructions, then.

  • FORGET FORMER THINGS. The key Hebrew term here is from, ‘Shav’ [שָׁוְא]: “Emptiness, nothingness, vanity; meaningless, empty words or speech; worthless motives, conduct, or men; from the same as [the Hebrew], Show,’ in the sense of desolating; evil (as destructive), literally (ruin) or morally (especially guile); figuratively idolatry (as false, subjective), uselessness (as deceptive, objective; also adverbially, in vain) – false, as with vanity; anything that disappoints the hope which rests upon it; swearing falsely or lightly.”
  • GOD’S ‘NEW THING.’ From the Hebrew, ‘Chadash’ [חָדָשׁ]: “Something fresh and new, as with a new king, new wine, or a new house; a fresh morning [or dawning]; ref. also to God’s (new) glory; to rebuild something old into a brand new creation; lately made, invented, produced or come into being; that has existed a short time only; recent in origin; novel; opposed to old, and used of things; as a new coat, a new book; a new fashion; a new theory; the new chimistry; a new discovery.”
  • NOW IT SPRINGS FORTH. Taken from ‘Tsmach’ [צָמַח]: “To sprout or spring up; shine forth; to grow abundantly; to shoot, as the seed of a plant; to germinate; to push out new shoots; to shoot into ramifications; to send out new growth; cause to develop [or mature]; to emerge and develop rapidly; refers to a young person about to become an adult; metaphorically, ‘to turn to a new page’ in some great story.’”
  • A ROAD IN THE WILDERNESS. Here the key term is, ‘Derek’ [דֶּרֶךְ], or: “Way, road, distance, journey, manner; path or direction; of moral action and character; of one’s duty; conversation, custom; a going or walk; a way of life; more often it refers to the actions and behavior of men, whether wicked or righteous (Psalm 1:6; Genesis 18:19); an open way or public passage; ground appropriated for travel, forming a communication between one city, town or place and another.”
  • RIVERS IN THE DESERT. Finally this, from the Hebrew word, ‘Nahar’ [נָהָר]: “A stream or flood; figuratively, prosperity; large stream; copious flow; abundance; as rivers of blood; rivers of oil; a natural flowing watercourse, usually freshwater, flowing towards an oceansealake or another river; any copious flow or outpouring; a natural flow of fresh water [to renew the land or the inhabitants]; brook; properly the channel or ravine that holds water; in winter a ‘torrent,’ in summer a ‘wadi’ or valley.”

THE PROPHET’S QUESTION. “SHALL YE NOT KNOW IT?” From the important Hebrew word, ‘Yada’ [יָדַע]: “To learn or perceive the difference between good and evil; the way to wisdom; toward the price of knowing something future; to understand God’s enjoining upon [our generation]; to discriminate or distinguish [the true from the false]; to recognize, admit or acknowledge (by direct experience); to know how to do a thing; to inform, announce or reveal oneself [as one who does or can] appoint or order.”

As always, he Choice is Epic, but remains ours alone to make. Ours alone.

COMMENTARY. “‘Remember ye not — All the wonders of the great historic past of Israel were to be as nothing compared with the New Manifestation of the power of Jehovah, which Isaiah sees as already Dawning in the future. ‘Shall ye not know it’? — Better, ‘Will ye’ not give heed to it? ‘I will even make a Way in the wilderness.’ — The literal and the spiritual senses melt into each other. The very beasts of the field shall lose their ferocity in the presence of the saints of God. For ‘dragons and owls, and jackals and ostriches.’” – CHARLES ELLICOTT, ‘Commentaries on the Whole Bible,’ 1905; edited

The good Bishop of Gloucester’s beautiful rendering above inspires me to quote the verses he points to at the end of his comments.

“The beasts of the field honor Me, the jackals and the ostriches, because I give waters in the wilderness and rivers in the desert, to give drink to My people, My chosen, the people I formed for Myself, that they may set forth My praise [and they shall do it].” – ISAIAH 43:20-21, AMPC

These ‘Chosen’ of God,’ these Jews and graciously grafted in, Christians, shall yet set forth His praises in these Last Times – should, again, they Desire it.

  1. LAST THOUGHTS

For me, this has all been a Revelation, bordering on Epiphany, this Gathering of the Remnant Church for one great, last Thrust for the Kingdom of God. It shall be both Harrowing and Halcyon, this Final Ride on the Winds of God’s Spirit.

And yes, beloved, it is altogether ‘NEW,’ since it has never before happened in all of human history – nor shall it ever again. The Beauty of it: God shall carve out those ‘Roads in the wilderness, and fresh Rivers in the desert,’ that we might Traverse the whole land, even the entire world for Him, till Time itself forever stands still.

HARVEST TIME. I am reminded of God’s Prophecy from so long ago, now come full flower to this Last Generation, again, as never before:

“Jesus said to them, ‘My food is to do the will of Him who sent Me and to completely finish His work. Do you not say, “It is still four months until the harvest comes?” Look, I say to you, ‘raise your eyes and look at the fields and see, they are white for harvest. Already the reaper is receiving his wages and he is gathering fruit for eternal life; so that he who plants and he who reaps may rejoice together. For in this case the saying is true, “One [person] sows and another reaps.” I sent you to reap [a crop] for which you have not worked. Others have worked and you have been privileged to reap the results of their work.’” – JOHN 4:34-38, AMP

ELLICOTT completes his Grand Vison of this Charge from our King, as John the Apostle lays it down for us.

“This Work He speaks of here, and in John 4:32, as ‘actual food’, as the Supply of the truest needs, and the satisfaction of the truest desires of His nature. Analogies to this are within the limits of every man’s experience, and, faint as they are, help us to learn something of what this spiritual sustenance was. The Command of duty, the cheering power of hope, the stimulus of success, are Forces that supply to weak and weary nerves and muscles, the vigour of a NEW LIFE. Under them the soldier can forget his wounds, the martyr smile at the lion or the flame, the worn-out traveller still plod onward at the thought of home. We cannot analyse this Power, but it exists. They have food to eat that those without know not of.”

And, I add WILLIAM MACDONALD’S very practical wisdom, to properly give context and comfort to us who might find this Final Task too daunting. I loved this when I first read it.

“Very few souls are ever saved through the ministry of a single person. Most people have heard the Gospel many times before they ever accept the Savior. Therefore, the one who finally leads a person to Christ [whether saved or backslidden] should not exalt himself as if he were the only instrument God used in this marvelous work.” – Believer’s Bible Commentary, 1995, p. 1488; edited

This is the very meaning of the Messiah’s Instructions to His Church. We are not looking for the typically American ‘Notch in the belt,’ but rather the joy of knowing we have led someone toward Fresh Water and Fresh Bread in the midst of this Present Wilderness, so bereft of God’s Truth and Life’

Even in our own Sanctuaries!

CODA. So, aggressively ‘Ask God to Lead,’ beloved, in all we think and do and say, to the New Life He has designed for each of us in the stunning, wonderful, perilous, and altogether Epochal Adventure on which we Now Embark. The mooring lines are about to be cast off, as His Great Ship prepares to set sail.

The Day is almost spent, the Night fast approaches, yet God’s Fire burns all the more for all who would grab hold of it to Light the Way, for ourselves, and for others who cannot yet see.
