PRÉCIS ON THE DEATH OF A KING: REQUIEM FOR A HEAVYWEIGHT AT THE END OF TIME
NOTE: Tonight is Christmas Eve which I am using as illustrative of a ‘Crucifixion’ of sorts. Faint not. Tomorrow, Christmas Day, we shall see a ‘Resurrection’ of sorts. For we are in the midst of Movement from Death unto New Life, though the Road we take be perilous indeed. DK
SCRIPTURE. “So Saul died for his unfaithfulness which he had committed against the Lord, because he did not keep the word of the Lord, and also because he consulted a medium for guidance. But he did not inquire of the Lord; therefore He killed him, and turned the kingdom over to David the son of Jesse.” – 1 CHRONICLES 10:13-14, NKJV
KEY TERM: “HE KILLED HIM.” ‘Muth’ [מוּת]: “To die, to kill, to be dead; to be found worthy of being put to death; to execute; often comes through rebellion and unbelief [as in this context] alongside just being human.” NOTE: “The Hebrew verb ‘muth’ primarily means ‘to die’ or ‘to be dead.’ It is used extensively throughout the Old Testament to describe the physical death of individuals, animals, and metaphorically, the death of nations or spiritual death. The term can also imply the act of killing or causing death.”
QUOTATION. “I’ve come to see ‘Institutional Decline’ like a staged disease: Harder to detect but easier to cure in the early stages, easier to detect but harder to cure in the later stages. An institution can look strong on the outside but already be sick on the inside.” ― JAMES C. COLLINS, How the Mighty Fall: And Why Some Companies Never Give In, 2009; edited
COMMENTARY. ‘The Death of Saul.’ – The design chiefly in view in these Books of the Chronicles, appears to be to preserve the records of the House of David. Therefore, the writer repeats not the history of Saul’s Reign, but only of his Death, by which a way was made for David to the throne. And from the ruin of Saul, we may learn: 1. That the sin of sinners will certainly find them out, sooner or later; Saul died for his transgression. 2. That no man’s greatness can exempt him from the judgments of God. 3. Disobedience is a killing thing. Saul died for not keeping the Word of the Lord. May be delivered from unbelief, impatience, and despair. By waiting on the Lord, we shall obtain a Kingdom that cannot be moved.” – MATTHEW HENRY, Exposition of the Old and New Testaments, 6 vols., 1708-1710; edited
DK’S TAKE. I see the Saga of KING SAUL as Archetype of American’s First King, DONALD TRUMP. As it was with the ancient times when Israel had fallen to Corruption and the demand for their own king in rebellious Rejection of Yahweh Himself, America has likewise rejected their true King, Jesus Christ, in treacherous preference for ‘One like themselves,’ even the Antichrist.
In the classic “Song of the Bow” recorded as King David’s Lament over the deaths of both Saul and Jonathan, we see the CONSEQUENCES of such massive disobedience by a deeply flawed king.
“Tell it not in Gath, announce it not in the streets of Ashkelon, lest the daughters of the Philistines rejoice, lest the daughters of the uncircumcised exult.O mountains of Gilboa, let there be no dew or rain upon you, or fields with offerings. For there the shield of the mighty was defiled, the shield of Saul, as though he were not anointed with oil. From the blood of the slain, from the fat of the mighty, the bow of Jonathan turned not back, and the sword of Saul returned not empty. Saul and Jonathan, beloved and lovely! In their lives and in their deaths they were not divided. They were swifter than eagles, they were stronger than lion. You daughters of Israel, weep over Saul, who clothed you in scarlet with [other] delights, who put ornaments of gold upon your apparel.
How have the mighty fallen in the midst of the battle! Jonathan lies slain upon your high places. I am distressed for you, my brother Jonathan; very pleasant have you been to me. Your love to me was wonderful, passing the love of women. How have the mighty fallen, and the weapons of war perished!” – 2 SAMUEL 1:17-27, AMPC
CODA. Therefore, beloved: As it was with King Saul of Israel millennia ago, so has it now become with America and her King Donald, whose Epitaph is written in the very Blood of the Messiah and all His true ones who are sacrificed on the Altar of Self Indulgence and Blasphemy. Selah.
