PRÉCIS ON THE PRICELESS THOUGHTS OF GOD: THINKING BIBLICALLY AS THE “GOOD OLD WAY” OF LIFE

COMMENTARY. “God’s Counsels concerning us and our welfare are deep, such as cannot be known. We cannot think how many mercies we have received from Him. It would help to keep us in the fear of the Lord all the day long, if, when we wake in the morning, our first thoughts were of Him: And how shall we admire and bless our God for His precious salvation, when we awake in the world of glory! Surely, we ought not to use our members and senses, which are so curiously fashioned, as instruments of unrighteousness unto sin. But our immortal and rational souls are a still more noble work and gift of God.

Yet if it were not for His precious thoughts of love to us, our Reason and our living for ever would, through our sins, prove the occasion of our eternal misery. How should we then delight to meditate on God’s love to sinners in Jesus Christ, the sum of which exceeds all reckoning! Sin is hated, and sinners lamented, by all who fear the Lord. Yet while we shun them we should pray for them; with God their conversion and salvation are possible. As the Lord knows us thoroughly, and we are strangers to ourselves, we should earnestly desire and pray to be searched and proved by His Word and Spirit.

DK’S TAKE. When I was a kid of eight or nine years old growing up in the high desert reaches of San Bernardino, California in the 1950s (yes, beloved, I am that old!), my parents gave me a 10-volume set of World Book Encyclopedia. And as I dove into those ten books, filled with all Mankind knew some 70 years ago, my life was to be transformed and fixed in a Trajectory that I would not realize until my adulthood.

Though I am clearly no Einstein, I recall at even that early age: “I just want to know stuff!”

During my life before Christ entered into it, that hunger for knowledge took me to many dark places as I investigated some of the most dangerous Ideas and Philosophies (and Practices) of men. But after Jesus, oh my! An entire New World opened up to me and frankly, I could not get enough.

2024. As the Lord matriculated me through many schools all the way to a Ph.D. in Philosophy and Social Theory, my fiery desire for His Truth matured and deepened. Right through to the tumult and terrors of America in the 2020s, under the Dark Shadow of DONALD TRUMP, and his inarguable conquest of both Church and State.

[Written before the Presidential Election] Nearly unspeakably, he stands a very good chance of retaking the White House to assume his final position of what I can only describe as ‘The American Führer’ (Leader, Guide, Dictator). Well-armed with the Heritage Foundation’s seditious Project 2025 and his equally unconstitutional Agenda 47 Policy Platform, we are on the very brink of what I once called:

“The End of History as We Know It.”

CODA. And the only single way of negotiating these Perilous Times, beloved, is an aggressive, reverent and relentless ‘Pursuit of the Thoughts of God!’ Without this, we are left stranded on the craggy rocks of the High Places of Satan and Antichrist. But with them, we can both understand and overcome them both. Overcome them both!
