NOTES ON GOD’S CALL TO RADICAL CHRISTIANITY: A RETURN TO THE FAITH IN REJECTION OF ‘THE AMERICAN GOSPEL.’ Part III

PART III: “THE CLASH OF CIVILIZATIONS”

FIRST THOUGHTS

At some risk of overdramatizing our present Historic Moment, I am taken back to November 19, 1863, on a then-quieted field of battle at Gettysburg, Pennsylvania. I am, coincidentally, listening to strains of the Boston Symphony’s powerful rendition of “Auschwitz-Birkenau” from the movie soundtrack, ‘Schindler’s List’ (1993).

ABRAHAM LINCOLN’S WORDS strike deep into this old man’s soul as I watch my country continue to heave to and fro, not unlike Isaiah’s Drunken Earth (24:40): “Now we are engaged in a Great Civil War, testing whether that nation, or any nation so conceived and so dedicated, CAN LONG EDURE.”

Like you, I have never seen such Grinding Tumult in America in all my long days – not even during the Revolutionary 1960s, of which I was a small part while attending college in Long Beach, California. Even that Era, so fraught with conflict and division and cultural confusion, pales in comparison to what can only be called:

‘The Era of Trump’ – The single most dominant political, cultural and religious force to visit this Nation in memory.

THE QUESTION. So for me at least, Lincoln’s Question hangs in the very air surrounding us, at times suffocating us: Can America, so originally conceived in God and Truth, “long endure” in her current, broken form?

Today we’ll explore some, but not all, of the implications of this Question, and in so doing, point to where we are all likely headed in the Days to Come.

THE GREAT AMERICAN CRISIS

Many great minds, both religious and secular, have grappled with this issue American Greatness following our triumphant victory in World War II. I recall HENRY LUCE, founder of Time and Life magazines, who argued passionately for America to enter that War in an editorial published on February 17, 1941 (edited).

“Throughout the 17th century and the 18th century and the 19th century, this Continent teemed with manifold projects and magnificent purposes. Above them all and weaving them all together into the most exciting Flag of all the world and of all history was the triumphal Purpose of [Political] Freedom. It is in this spirit that all of us are called, each to his own measure of capacity, and each in the widest horizon of his vision, to create the first ‘Great American Century.’”

But inside the belly of that frothy patriotic fervor, were buried the Seeds of our Destruction. Can you see it, my friends? – the Embryonic Hubris associated with a National Vision coming full term, ordering America Alone to virtually control the Destiny of the entire planet of nations. Embedded in this New American Narrative was the enshrinement of our ‘Political Freedom’ as our Prime Directive.

How could I possibly argue with that, you might well ask? This is how.

THE GREATEST COMMANDMENT. “Then God spoke all these words: ‘I am the Lord your God, Who has brought you out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage, you shall have no other gods before or besides Me…[Therefore] you shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind (intellect). This is the great (most important, principal) and first commandment.’” – EXODUS 20:1-3; MATTHEW 22:37-38, AMPC

Then Jesus expands on this sweeping, all-consuming and frankly Radical Edict.

“Do not think that I have come to bring peace on the earth; I have not come to bring peace, but a sword [of division between belief and unbelief]. For I have come to set a man against his father, and a daughter against her mother, and a daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law; and a man’s enemies will be the members of his [own] household [when one believes and another does not].

He who loves father or mother more than Me is not worthy of Me; and he who loves son or daughter more than Me is not worthy of Me. And he who does not take his cross [expressing a willingness to endure whatever may come] and follow Me [believing in Me, conforming to My example in living and, if need be, suffering or perhaps dying because of faith in Me] is not worthy of Me. Whoever finds his life [in this world] will [eventually] lose it [through death], and whoever loses his life [in this world] for My sake will find it [that is, life with Me for all eternity].” – MATTHEW 10:34-39, AMP

THE REALITY OF THIS CALL. Are you hearing this, beloved, I mean, really, truly Hearing this? In the context of the Painful Divides among all Americans it seems, over whether one is Pro-Trump or Never-Trump, these words take on real flesh and blood currency as the Church tears herself apart – OVER TRUMP.

Think about what I just wrote – Over ‘Trump’! Not Jesus any longer. Not over doctrinal truth nor how we can fulfill the Great Commission. No, the entire American Debate, our intensifying Culture War, now appears to be solely over Donald Trump, and what we think of him.

WILLIAM MACDONALD. “But the point here is that whenever individuals became His followers, their families would turn against them. A converted father would be opposed by his unbelieving son, a Christian mother by her unsaved daughter. A born-again mother-in-law would be hated by her unregenerate daughter-in-law. So a ‘Choice’ must often be made between Christ and family. No ties of nature can be allowed to deflect a disciple from Utter Allegiance to the Lord. The Savior must take precedence over father, mother, son or daughter. One of the ‘Costs of Discipleship’ is to experience tension, strife, and alienation from one’s own family [or Church or Nation]. This hostility is often more bitter than is encountered in other areas of life.” – ‘Believer’s Bible Commentary, 1995, p. 1241; edited

THE AMERICAN GOSPEL. The Contemporary View in the Church today, however, is light years removed from these Christocentric Ideas: “Good heavens, no! Never oppose anyone for any reason! That isn’t our Jesus, not ever, no matter what! Peace, peace I say! Peace no matter what it costs, since Jesus in the Prince of Peace.”

Well now, here is what The Father of Lights speaks in Fiery Opposition to such reckless distortion of His Commandments. Cited again at length for the full impact of God’s Severity in this vital regard.

“So My hand will be against the [counterfeit] prophets who see (make up) empty and delusive visions and who give lying prophecies. They will have no place in the [secret] council of My people, nor will they be recorded in the register of the house of Israel, nor will they enter into the land of Israel, that you may know [without any doubt] that I am the Lord God. It is definitely because they have seduced My people, saying, ‘Peace,’ when there is no peace, and because when one builds a [flimsy] wall, behold, these [lying] prophets plaster it over with whitewash; so tell those who plaster it with whitewash, that it will fall! A flooding rain [of judgment] will come, and you, O [great] hailstones, will fall; and a violent wind will tear the wall apart.

Behold, when the wall has fallen, will you not be asked, ‘Where is the coating with which you [prophets] plastered it?’ Therefore, thus says the Lord God, ‘I will make a violent wind break out in My wrath, and there will be in My anger an overwhelming rain and great hailstones to destroy [that wall] in wrath. So I will tear down the wall which you have plastered with whitewash and bring it down to the ground, so that its foundations will be exposed; when it falls, you will perish in its midst. And you shall know and understand fully that I am the Lord.’” – EZEKIEL 13:9-14, AMP

PASTORS. If you are not teaching your people this Full Gospel, up to and including Warning them, severely if necessary, that Trump Christianity is a False Gospel, the ‘Strange Fire’ loathed by Moses in the Book of Leviticus (10:1-3), then you are subject to His Furious Judgment that is Coming, in the view of many, soon and very soon.

You above all people must understand that God’s Truth is the only ingredient in life that ‘sets a soul or a nation free’ (cf. John 8:31-32). Conversely, it is Demonic Falsehood that enslaves a soul or a nation. And I tell you at point blank range that you are contributing to nothing less than:

AN AMERICA OF LIES. To state it even more bluntly: Donald John Trump is a schoolyard bully, a pathological liar, a Virulent Infection of our houses of worship and the entire country far worse than Coronavirus, with a NEW NARRATIVE: ‘All is Fake, except what HE declares to be true.’ And you are not resisting it!

How can this be, from God’s Sanctuaries of Truth that such darkness and cowardice and hedging and noncommitment and worse, Outright Deception, has gotten such a firm grip on our pastors and priests and prelates?

Writing for ‘The Scotsman,’ a favorite conservative opinion journal, SUSAN DALGETY schools us all on this Morally Existential Point.

“[Donald Trump], according to the Washington Post, made a whopping 30,573 False or Misleading Claims while Commander-in-Chief. This roughly equates to 21 Falsehoods a day, quite a remarkable achievement even for the man who claimed a year ago that Covid-19 was nothing to worry about. ‘It’s one person coming in from China. We have it under control. It’s going to be just fine,’ he told a sceptical press pack last January. As of yesterday, 2.1 million people across the world have died of the virus, and the USA has the highest death toll.” – “Donald Trump, America’s Liar in Chief,” January 23, 2021; edited

THE ERA OF ANTICHRIST. Can there possibly, remotely be any question at all about The American Crisis being a Crisis of Truth? Still again, I point to the glaring fact that Scripture foretold that the Last Days would be overwhelmingly characterized by a single, forceful phenomenon: LIES:

“But the [Holy] Spirit explicitly and unmistakably declares that in later times some will turn away from the faith, paying attention instead to deceitful and seductive spirits and doctrines of demons, [misled] by the HYPOCRISY OF LIARS whose consciences are seared as with a branding iron [leaving them incapable of ethical functioning], who forbid marriage and advocate abstaining from [certain kinds of] foods which God has created to be gratefully shared by those who believe and have [a clear] knowledge of the truth.” – 1 TIMOTHY 4:1-2, AMP; emphasis my own

Beloved of God – we are there, now, right here in Real Time America. And if our Church Leaders do not own up, man up and stand up to these life-ending winds and waves of Deception in our nation, we shall surely perish, not unlike the Coronavirus Victim who tragically, cannot breathe.

Just like him, America is dying for Lack of Oxygen, which I shall operationally define as Truth, the whole Truth, and nothing but the Truth, so help us God.

THE TEACHING

“Then one of the elders [of the heavenly Sanhedrin] said to me, ‘Stop weeping! See, the Lion of the tribe of Judah, the Root (Source) of David, has won (has overcome and conquered)! He can open the scroll and break its seven seals!’” – REVELATION 5:5, AMPC

I have written extensively about the towering significance of this passage, and will not repeat much of it here. But bear in mind that this is virtually THE MOMENT OF HISTORIC TRANSFER, from the 2,000 Year Age of Grace, to what I have termed:

“The End of History as We Know It.” So let’s take a much closer look.

THE LION OFJUDAH. Now here is where ALL of History – Divine and Human – have their Origin, their Direction, and their Consummation. This is, YESHUA BEN DAVID, or in the Greek rendering, ‘León’ [λέων]: “Lion, lit. translated as ‘a brave and mighty’ creature; also, ‘very strong, fierce and rapacious’ [to be greatly feared]; His aspect is noble, his gait stately, and his roar tremendous.” AND THIS: “Your Bible urges dedicated true Christians to emulate the Lion of the tribe of Judah—Jesus Christ. Proverbs 28:1 says that ‘The righteous are bold as a lion.’ Revelation 3:21 challenges us to overcome as Christ did. He conquered Satan, and so must we to qualify to sit with Christ on His Throne at His Second Coming…’Will a lion roar in the forest, when he hath no prey? will a young lion cry out of his den, if he have taken nothing?’ (Amos 3:4). The Lion of Judah always has a Reason for Roaring! He roars by sending out a WARNING MESSAGE through His people. We need the Holy Spirit to deliver our Lion’s Roar. He is about to pounce and punish the modern [world], but He will always roar first.” – cf. G. Flurry, ‘The Trumpet,’ October 12, 2018; edited, emphasis my own

HAS PREVAILED. The Mighty Lion of Judah is here regaled as the Conqueror of all sin and death. From the Greek, ‘Nikaó’ [νικάω]: “I conquer, am victorious, overcome, prevail, subdue; properly, conquer (overcome); ‘to carry off the victory, come off victorious;’ the verb implies ‘a battle;’ to win the case [or argument]; Latin ‘proevaleo; proe,’ before, and ‘valeo,’ to be strong or well; the primary sense is to stretch or strain forward, to advance; to overcome; to gain the victory or superiority; to gain the advantage; to be in force [or to enforce]; to have effect; power or influence; to persuade or induce; to succeed; gain or have predominant impact; to have and wield unrivaled power and authority.”

WORTHY TO OPEN THE SEALS. Rather than drill down on specific terms here, it is much more profitable to state the Raw Power issuing from Christ’s Unique Authority to Tear Open The Seals. From my own writing of this stupendous Event that caused Holy Havoc in the Throne Room (cf. Revelation 5:8-14; read it all).

“Thus, the remainder of Chapter 5 is an emphatic and dramatic Pronouncement that Jesus Christ is the only One worthy to take the Book from His Father’s hand and Break the Seals, to both reveal and release its powerful contents. So, as all of History and Heaven virtually holds its cosmic breath, the Messiah steps forth to supervise the Commencement of the Consummation of that History. No more powerful moment is ever recorded in all the books of the world or universe, as in this one little Book, or ‘Scroll,’ more accurately.” – CLIFFORD W. GOD’S JUDGMENTS BEING LOOSED. I. SEALS: (Antichrist; Warfare; Famine; Plague; Martyrdom; Cosmic Upheaval/Rapture). II. TRUMPETS: (Hail and Fire; Decay of Marine Life; Sun and Moon darkened; Demonic Locusts; Demon Army). III. BOWLS: Painful Sores, Death of all Sea Life, Rivers to Blood, Sun’s Heat increases, Great Darkness, Sores Worsen, Antichrist’s Armies at Armageddon, Worldwide Earthquake, Giant Hailstones).

ADDENDUM. Since penning those lines in 2016, I have come to believe that this Seals Event has already begun, somewhere between the Election of Donald Trump on Tuesday November 8, 2016, and Wednesday January 6, 2021 when the Trump Insurrectionists, including thousands of His Christian followers, went fully Rogue, breached the Capitol, killed members of the police force, and attempted to kidnap and kill members of the United States Congress and the Vice President:

And ALL, beloved, in the Name of Jesus Christ, their newly anointed ‘King of America,’ and His royal Viceroy, Donald John Trump.

Selah. Selah. Do not for one moment underestimate the Gravity of this hideous Blasphemy, lest you be consigned to God’s Wrath for doing so.

LAST THOUGHTS

Whether or not it actually takes place, bear in mind that the same vicious mob that assaulted the Center of American Order on January 6, has PLANS FOR A “QANON STORM” on March 4, 2021, just after this Essay will be posted on March 3. The fortuitous confluence was not anticipated.

THE PLAN. Here is one report of The Plan from ‘Salon,’ by journalist IGOR DERYSH, published on February 20, 2021. Quoted at some length again, for its stunning implications for us all, beloved.

“Nearly 5,000 National Guard troops are expected to stay in Washington for at least another three weeks amid concerns over potential violence from QAnon adherents, some of whom believe former President Donald Trump will be Inaugurated [again] on March 4. House Armed Services Chairman Adam Smith, D-Wash., cited QAnon chatter surrounding March 4 during a hearing this week with defense officials flagged by CNN. ‘Some of these people have figured out that apparently 75 years ago, the president used to be inaugurated on March 4,’ Smith said. ‘Now why that’s relevant, God knows. At any rate, now they are thinking maybe we should gather again and Storm the Capitol on March 4 that is circulating online’…

The Disparate Subgroups forming out of the core QAnon Movement suggest that many followers may be outgrowing their singular focus on Trump, and that the Movement may morph into something entirely different, even while retaining core QAnon Beliefs.

‘This will be with us for at least a generation,’ [Julian Feeld, co-host of the ‘QAnon Anonymous’ podcast] said. ‘These are beliefs that will be held by parents and their offspring. We’ll have grandparents gathering children around the fireplace, telling them the story of how Hillary Clinton sheared the face off a baby and danced with it and ate the child. These are the stories that are being told in our culture for a variety of reasons. That’s something we’re going to have to contend with in a broader way than just labeling it QAnon.’”

UPDATE. According to ‘The Hill’ out just today (March 3, 2021): “Authorities will be on high alert Thursday over a QAnon Conspiracy Theory prediction, but according to experts, chances of violence appear minimal compared to the deadly Insurrection on January 6.” – C. Um, 5,000 National Guard troops and a fence around the White House and Capitol kind of puts a chill on ‘The Plan.’

THINGS TO COME. In any event, you can now understand why I and a growing number of other concerned observers, will be studying and writing of this new, Alt-Right QAnon Coalition, one that is chillingly similar to, nearly synonymous with, the Nazi Movement in Germany during the 1930s.

Here is ALLISON SIEGELMAN’S gripping report from her recently published piece in ‘Goeerie’ on February 19, 2021, entitled, “QAnon and the Alt Right Draw from the Nazi Playbook.” Siegelman is a member of the Central PA American Israel Public Affairs organization.

“U.S. Congresswoman MARJORIE TAYLOR GREENE has been responsible for circulating wacky QAnon conspiracy theories that have dark, satanic themes that are reminiscent of those believed in ancient times. She and those associated with alt-right and QAnon groups target the Jewish people in the same way the Nazi Party did: They spread stump rhetoric, written propaganda and images all weaving the Fiction with horrifying false characterizations and conspiracies about how the country is being destroyed by people amongst us.

What is most concerning is that Holocaust Revisionism and Denial has been embraced by some in academics with an agenda. It is so extreme that the Genocide of 6 million Jews (along with many other minorities) throughout Europe is being questioned, especially by the younger generations who did not live through World War II…Genocide is the deliberate killing of a people with the intent of eliminating them from existence.

The Jewish people had endured many battles and oppression since their tribal identity was created by the Father of Monotheism (the belief in one God), Abraham. It was Hitler’s Nazi Fascism that targeted death to all Jews throughout the world — not just to drive them out of a land. The Nazi Party was able to formulate Conspiracy Theories that relied on demonizing Jews by circulating tales of Jews plotting to deceive and destroy the non-Jewish population. They played on arousing fear in a demographic group who were provincial, gullible and eager to find a scapegoat for the ills of their nation.

Today, Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene and those like her are doing exactly the same thing. These Extremists are looking to instill fear and anger in Americans who see anyone other than White and Christian as a threat to the U.S. They wrap their Falsehoods with Patriotism and glorify the quest to attack the Jews as if Jews are not trustworthy and upstanding citizens.

Ironically, those who participate in such defamation can be seen as the Real Enemy of a democratized nation. Those who remain indifferent or dismissive of the trend in radicalized American Patriotism and the militia cells that we today call domestic terrorism are as much to blame for the threat to our Nation.

If we are to survive as a Democracy, we must put party politics aside and look to History for an understanding of what gave rise to Democracy. George Santayana’s iconic words spoken in 1905 could not be more relevant, ‘Those who cannot remember the past are doomed to repeat it.’ It was in 1948 before the British House of Commons upon the end of WWII that Winston Churchill revised the quote as, ‘Those who fail to learn from history are condemned to repeat it.’ I ask that we, as Americans, embrace the most basic tenet of Democracy to avoid a horrific slide into Fascism and worse: Immorality.”

CODA. Do you see more clearly now precisely WHY the Lion of Judah Roars, beloved? Because His Houses are at the Center of much if not most of this perilous, seditious Treachery against Him, a brazen and already bloody Insurrection against the very Canon we are to protect, at cost of our very lives if necessary.

So do I dare to Conclude with what the King of the Universe next intends. Who has already Begun to Release the Seals. Without the Church’s Repentance, He will soon thereafter open up The Trumpets and The Bowls of His Fiery Wrath upon, to recoin a phrase, “America First,” beloved.

But Why ‘America First’ you might ask? Can you not already taste the bitter irony here? So here’s why, from the Messiah’s own mouth.

“But he who did not know and did things worthy of a beating shall be beaten with few [lashes]. For everyone to whom much is given, of him shall much be required; and of him to whom men entrust much, they will require and demand all the more.” – LUKE 12:48, AMPC

LAST CALLS. I continue to argue, rightly or wrongly, that America is down to her Final Warnings. Down to TWO ROARS, to be specific, that I was led to share.

FIRST ROAR. “Have we not all one Father? Has not one God created us? Why then do we deal faithlessly and treacherously each against his brother, profaning the covenant of [God with] our fathers [by intermarrying]?” – MALACHI 2:10, AMPC

SECOND ROAR. “‘WOE to the shepherds [pastors, civil leaders, rulers] who are destroying and scattering the sheep of My pasture!’ says the Lord. Therefore thus says the Lord, the God of Israel, in regard to the shepherds who care for and feed My people: ‘You have scattered My flock and driven them away, and have not attended to them; hear this, I am about to visit and attend to you for the evil of your deeds,’ says the Lord. ‘Then I will gather the remnant of My flock out of all the countries to which I have driven them and bring them back to their folds and pastures; and they will be fruitful and multiply.’” – JEREMIAH 23:1-3, AMP

MATTHEW HENRY INTERPRETS. “WOE be to those who are set to feed God’s people, but take no concern to do them good! [But] Here is a Word of Comfort to the neglected sheep. Though only a Remnant of God’s flock is left, He will find them out, and they shall be brought to their former habitations. Christ is spoken of as a branch from David’s family. He is righteous himself, and through him all his people are made righteous. Christ shall break the usurped power of Satan. All the spiritual seed of believing Abraham and praying Jacob shall be protected, and shall be saved from the guilt and dominion of sin.” – ‘Exposition of the Old and New Testaments,’ 6 vols., 1708-1710; edited, emphasis my own

So there you have it, beloved Remnant of the Lord. For The Remnant, God’s Promise of comfort and cover and honor and future rest. For the Impenitent Insurgents, especially leaders, a very Different Pledge.

VISITATION OF EVIL. Taken from the Hebrew term, ‘Roa’ [רֹעַ]: “From the root word meaning, ‘To spoil by breaking to pieces;’ thus badness, wickedness, wretchedness, sadness; also, sorrow, evil condition [you brought to others by SERVING UNFIT FOOD]; implies, ‘for the deformities you thus created, you shall now become deformed.’”

It gives me no pleasure to repeat what is in God’s Word concerning such matters, but remember: He issues them because He still Loves us, though Angry with us. So do I plead with all Leaders especially: Please, please heed these Final Roars from the growing Fury of the Lion of Judah.

For in so doing, you fulfill THE LAW OF LOVE, as Paul wrote it in his Letter to Philippi.

“Do nothing from selfishness or empty conceit [through factional motives, or strife], but with [an attitude of] humility [being neither arrogant nor self-righteous], regard others as more important than yourselves.
