[AUDIBLE!] PRÉCIS ON YAHWEH’S DEFENSE OF HIS OWN: OVERCOMING FIERCE OPPOSITION IN THE LAST DAYS
SCRIPTURE. “‘Many a time and much have they afflicted me from my youth up’—let Israel now say—’Many a time and much have they afflicted me from my youth up, yet they have not prevailed against me.’” — PSALM 129:1-2, AMPC
KEY TERM: “NOT PREVAILED.” ‘Yakol’ [יָכֹל]: “To be able to have power over; overcome; to endure; still suffer; able to gain or accomplish; to be the victor; to gain the advantage; to be predominant; to extend over with force or effect; to persuade or induce; with on or upon; e.g., when Moses held up his hand, Israel prevailed; when he let down his hand, Amalek prevailed.”
QUOTATIONS
“It was not the privileged and the fortunate who took in the Jews in France. It was the marginal and damaged, which should remind us that there are real limits to what evil and misfortune can accomplish. If you take away the gift of reading, you create the gift of listening. If you bomb a city, you leave behind death and destruction. But you create a community of remote misses. If you take away a mother or a father, you cause suffering and despair. But one time in ten, out of that despair rises as indomitable force. You see the Giant and the Shepherd in the Valley of Elah and your eye is drawn to the man with sword and shield and the glittering armor. But so much of what is beautiful and valuable in the world comes from the Shepherd, who has more strength and purpose than we ever imagine.” ― MALCOLM GLADWELL, David and Goliath: Underdogs, Misfits, and the Art of Battling Giants, 2015; edited
“Aus der Kriegsschule des Lebens—Was mich nicht umbringt, macht mich starker” (“Out of life’s School of War—‘What doesn’t kill me, makes me stronger’”). ― FRIEDRICH NIETZSCHE, Twilight of Idols, 1888; edited
COMMENTARY. “The enemies of God’s people have very barbarously endeavoured to wear out the saints of the Most High. But the Church has been always graciously delivered. Christ has built his Church upon a Rock. And the Lord has many ways of disabling wicked men from doing the mischief they design against His Church. The Lord is righteous in not suffering Israel to be ruined; He has promised to preserve a people to Himself.” ― MATTHEW HENRY, Exposition of the Old and New Testaments, 6 vols., 1708-1710; edited
DK. As it turns out, this passage was whispered to me early in the morning as I am engaged in a number of skirmishes over what I write and the new book now being published. So, I really needed to hear this today (Jan. 25, 2024). Specifically:
- Facebook has once again restricted my account for one week due to some undefined “violation of community standards.” Mind you I write Biblical Commentary nearly every time. Whether by a “friend’s” complaint against me or an algorithm that kicked out my “error,” I am struggling to just stay online here and also on YouTube.
- Christian Faith Publishers has turned over my account now to a third supervisor, a vice president of operations this time, though not yet addressing several questions I have about the rollout of the book, The Sixth Seal II (Nov. 22, 2023). Not the least of which is a recent notification that all pre-orders are deliverable no earlier than August 2024!
PRAYER! Beloved, needless to say, I need some aggressive, militant Intercession against the spiritual enemies in high places that are working to undermine this entire Circuit Ride Enterprise. Please go to war straight away, that we might see the Holy Spirit and God’s Armies burst through all opposition.
And may all the glory go to our Dread Champion who fights for us daily!
