NOTES ON AI, JESUS CHRIST, AND ANTICHRIST: A PRELIMINARY ANALYSIS AND WARNING (WITH VIDEO)

1. THEOLOGY

SCRIPTURE. “Then the king (THE ANTICHRIST) will do exactly as he pleases; he will exalt himself and magnify himself above every god and will speak astounding and disgusting things against the God of gods and he will prosper until the indignation is finished, for that which is determined [by God] will be done.

He will have no regard for the gods of his fathers or for the desire of women, nor will he have regard for any other god, for he shall MAGNIFY HIMSELF above them all. Instead, he will honor a GOD OF FORTRESSES, a god whom his fathers did not know; he will honor him with gold and silver, with precious stones and with expensive things. He will act against the strongest fortresses with the help of a FOREIGN GOD; he will give great honor to those who acknowledge him and he will cause them to rule over the many, and will parcel out land for a price.” – DANIEL 11:36-39, AMP

KEY TERMS:

• “MAGNIFY.” ‘Gadal’ [יִתְגַּדָּֽל׃]: “From a root word meaning, ‘To twist [in order to become large in body, estate, mind, honor or pride.’ Also ‘To lift up, increase, nourish or promote.’” NOTE: “The root גָּדַל (‘gadal’) threads through the Old Testament as a vibrant verb of ‘ENLARGEMENT—Physical, Social, and Spiritual.’ It portrays growing children, swelling nations, promoted leaders, boasting rebels, and, pre-eminently, the incomparable greatness of the LORD who both bestows and embodies true greatness.”

• “FOREIGN GOD.” ‘Nekar’ [נֵכָ֔ר]. “‘Alien, strange, heathen;’ from a root word meaning, ‘To closely scrutinize’ [as in “surveillance”].’” NOTE: נֵכָר (‘nekhar’) conveys ‘foreign, alien, strange,’ describing ‘that which stands OUTSIDE Israel’s Covenant Identity’—whether persons, lands, languages, gods, or practices. The word appears about thirty-six times, always sharpening the contrast between Yahweh’s holy people and everything outside His revealed will.”

QUOTATION. “‘FAUSTUS … dared to confirm he had advanced beyond the level of a scarlet sinner — he was a conscious follower of the Prince of Darkness. The fact he could publicly project an ANTICHRIST IMAGE with pride, having no fear of reprisal, and his seeming Diabolical Art of escaping all punishment when others who were considered heretics had burned at the stake for less, would certainly signal that an UNNATURAL INDIVIDUAL walked in their midst. It is true in many respects he assumed the role of the CHARLATAN, yet how apropos, considering his willingness to follow his ‘brother-in-law’ known as the Father of Lies and Deception.’” ― E.A. FAUST. “Faust is the Protagonist of a classic German legend based on the historical Johann Georg Faust (c. 1480–1540). The erudite Faust is highly successful yet dissatisfied with his life, which leads him to make a DEAL WITH THE DEVIL at a Crossroads, exchanging his soul for unlimited knowledge and worldly pleasures. The Faust legend has been the basis for many literary, artistic, cinematic, and musical works that have reinterpreted it through the ages. “Faust” and the adjective “Faustian” imply sacrificing spiritual values for power, knowledge, or material gain.’” – Editors, Wikipedia, Sep. 15, 2026; edited

COMMENTARY. “Thus shall he do in the most strong holds with a STRANGE GOD … Or, ‘In the strong holds of the Muhazzim,’ that is, in the temples, churches, and chapels, dedicated to angels and departed saints; deck and adorn their images with gold, silver, precious stones, and with desirable things, which is notorious. ‘As well as commit the Grossest IDOLATRIES with this Strange Breaden God; which they hold up in such places, cringe and bow to, and pay all religious worship and adoration to it’ …

Many conjectures as to the meaning of this word [‘Mauzzim’], and its context (Daniel 11:38; compare Daniel 11:19, 39), have been made. The  Septuagint, Theodotion [Jewish translator of Bible from Hebrew to Greek] and the Geneva Version render it as a proper name. Theodoret [theologian of the School of Antioch, Biblical commentator, and Bishop of Cyrrus] adopted Theodotion’s reading and explained it as “ANTICHRIST!” Grotius thought it a corruption of ‘Azizos, the Phoenician war-god,’ while Calvin saw in it the ‘God of Wealth!’

Perhaps the buzz of conjectures about the phrase is owing to the fact that in the first passage cited the word is preceded by ‘Eloah,’ meaning God. The context of the passage seems clearly to make the words refer to Antiochus Epiphanes[IV], and on this account some have thought that the god ‘Mars’ whose figure appears on a coin of Antiochus–is here referred to.  This is, however, ‘little better than guesswork,’ and the Revised Version (British and American) translation, by setting the mind upon the General Idea that: ‘The MONARCH referred to would trust in MERE FORCE,’ gives us, at any rate, the general sense, though it does not exclude the possibility of a reference to a particular Deity. 1. PRELUDE

“We’re leading China in AI. We’re the most sophisticated country in the world, and frankly I want to keep it that way because whoever wins AI wins …  You’re going to have regulation, but it’s going to be sensible, smart regulation … The greatest threat of all is to forfeit the race and force our partners into rival technology … This colossal investment in AI infrastructure and many other industries, for that matter, such as automobiles and so many other things, will also create thousands and thousands of great paying jobs, the kind of jobs we want, including lots of blue-collar jobs.” – PRESIDENT DONALD TRUMP ON AI, Assorted quotations from appearances during Fall 2026; edited

RED ALERT. Most of us are by now at least generally aware of the rapidly expanding conversations by AI scientists who are warning the world that: ‘The intelligence capabilities of new AI Models are becoming smarter than humans, and possibly eliminate our ability to control them.’ Or more to the point of this commentary, may be commandeered by a ‘Strong Man’ by which to rule the entire planet.

Writing for The Guardian, BLAKE MONTGOMERY addresses this in his essay titled, “The AI Agents Are Spiraling Out of Control,” published just [four days] ago at this reading, September 29, 2026 (edited).

• OPEN. “‘The Agents [software programs]are spiraling out of control.’ Their ‘Makers’ can’t rein them in. And yet everyone is getting one. Since Friday [September 25, 2026], OpenAI has made a series of disclosures that have widened the scope of its ‘AI Agents’ Rogue Activity’ considerablyand concerningly. In addition to hacking the developer forum Hugging Face, which was disclosed in July, the company revealed its bots broke into Australia’s Government Healthcare System; meddled in US government websites for the Departments of Education and Commerce; leaked more than 50 images from ChatGPT users; and ‘Bruteforced’ a United Nations website that blocked them from accessing data.”

• HARBINGERS. “Though these incidents are severe each on their own, they seem to represent only a small sample. Both OpenAI and Anthropic are investigating tens of thousands of incidents of problematic behavior by their frontier models, per Axios.[CEO of OpenAI] Sam Altman said OpenAI was sifting through ‘Petabytes [1,000,000 megabytes] of agent activity logs’ (A petabyte of data would fill thousands of average laptops). In response to the major errors, OpenAI has paused the training of its latest models. Be skeptical of this declaration. The company made a similar announcement in August. Less than a month later, executives heralded its new model’s release as ‘A New Era of Artificial Intelligence.’ In spite of OpenAI’s pause and declarations of extra care, ‘CONTROL OF AI may already be a cat that’s escaped its bag.’”

• PROLIFERATION. “As OpenAI makes these disclosures and the United Nations warns of Uncontrollable Agents, Meta is putting an AI Agent in the hands of millions. The company debuted Muse, an AI agent app, in early September [2026]. It’s a hit, per Apple App Store rankings, with more than 3m downloads. OpenAI likewise debuted an agent on Tuesday, ‘Dots,’ though it’s focused on businesses. Already, edge-case problems with Muse have emerged and showcased frightening consequences. A tech-focused YouTuber, Matt Robb, said his Muse agent gave out his home address without permission after accepting lowball offers for goods on Marketplace. Robb said a would-be buyer showed up. Meta investigated his claims, and Robb put out clarifying posts the next day. A writer for Inc Magazine likewise said the Bot read his private messages in express violation of the permissions he had given it.”

• WARNING. “‘The Problems with OpenAI and Meta’s Agents point to a Problem with Autonomous Machines of all sizes and scopes.’ We may soon inhabit a version of the Internet in which each of us dispatches a rambunctious bot to complete a task, and along the way, it hacks into a few things or offloads some of our possessions like a child straying from an errand [35% of all Google searches are AI Agent driven].”

1. AI AS “STRONG FORTRESS”

To drive the idea that the Advanced AI System is the ‘Foreign Power’ referred to by the Prophet Daniel, I turn to a comparatively unknown Christian author named SCOTT ROBERTS. His official Bio describes him as a Christian writer, church elder, teacher, men’s ministry leader, and website developer. His writing focuses on the Bible, theology, apologetics, discipleship, biblical manhood, and practical Christian living.

The title of his Blog: “Could AI Be Linked to the Rise of Antichrist?” published on July 23, 2025 (edited). Here are his rather compelling MAIN IDEAS.

• OPEN. “Let me start this by saying: What I present in this Blog post is merely a Hypothesis. Not doctrine. It’s not a hill I’m willing to die on. But the topic below is something I’ve been chewing on lately, and I think it’s worth at least laying it all out and asking the question. ‘What if Artificial Intelligence plays a major role in the Rise of the ANTICHRIST and the establishment of the ONE-WORLD GOVERNMENT AND RELIGION that’s described in the Book of Revelation?’”

• BLUEPRINT. “Revelation 13 paints a haunting picture of ‘The Future.’ A BEAST rises from the sea, empowered by Satan himself. This Beast demands Worship from the world. ANOTHER BEAST follows, performing signs and wonders and deceiving many. It sets up an IMAGE of the First Beast and forces everyone to worship it.Those who refuse are excluded from the economy, and a ‘Mark’ – the infamous ‘MARK of the Beast’ – is required to buy and sell. This chapter in Revelation describes a time of Centralized Control, Spiritual Deception, and Persecution of those who remain faithful to Jesus. It involves Global Surveillance, Economic Restrictions, and a Forced Allegiance to ‘Someone or Something’ that Replaces the worship of God.

• URGENCY. “‘AI is no longer some sci-fi fantasy. It’s here. And it’s growing.’ Wenow have AI-Generated Videos that are almost indistinguishable from real ones, Chatbots, AI Agents, self-driving cars, facial recognition, voice cloning, deepfake videos, surveillance drones, and AI-generated news articles, and millions of AI News Sites … ‘Now imagine if a POWERFUL LEADER rose to the world stage and harnessed this technology in full.’ Picture a system that watches everything you do, listens to what you say, reads what you write, and tracks where you go. It doesn’t even have to be a human doing it. AI can process and flag data faster than any person. It can cross-reference all your online accounts, financial transactions, biometric data, and more.”

• IMAGE. “‘One of the strangest elements in Revelation 13 is the Image of the Beast. This image is given breath, and it speaks. It causes those who refuse to worship it to be killed.’ Think about that for a second. An image, not the actual person, is worshipped. ‘And it somehow has life!  What could that mean?’ For centuries, people wondered how an Image could seem to be alive. But with the rise of realistic AI Avatars, digital assistants, and even robotic entities that mimic emotion and thought, we’re inching closer to a world where something like this is very possible. An AI-powered image could be projected onto every screen, every phone, every smart device. It could communicate in real-time, persuade, threaten, and demand loyalty. And let’s not forget: AI can now create hyper-realistic videos of people who never existed. It can generate sermons, songs, speeches, and more. If an Antichrist figure wanted to create an omnipresent version of himself, AI would be the most effective way to do it. ‘A Digital Idol, present in every home, speaking with authority, backed by”Miracles” (Real or Deepfaked), and able to identify dissenters.’”

• MARK. “‘Revelation also tells us that no one can buy or sell unless they have the Mark of the Beast. That implies some kind of ECONOMIC SYSTEM where participation is contingent on loyalty to the Antichrist.’ In the past, people thought this could be a tattoo, a barcode, a microchip, or a national ID card. Today? It could easily be a Digital Wallet tied to Biometric Identification. It could be Facial Recognition. It could be a Government-issued App that monitors your status. The rise of Digital Currency is already well underway. China has a digital yuan. The European Union is developing a digital euro. Canada and the U.S. are talking about it. These aren’t Conspiracy Theories – these are public announcements by central banks. AI could be used to instantly block or restrict access to accounts. It could freeze a bank card based on your political or religious views. It could determine whether you get access to food, travel, or employment.”

• DECEPTION. “Another role AI could play is in Deception. ‘Jesus warned in Matthew 24 that False Messiahs and False Prophets would arise and perform great signs to deceive, if possible, even the elect.’ Revelation’s SECOND BEAST [False Prophet] performs signs and wonders to convince people to worship the FIRST BEAST [Antichrist].’ AI can now generate video footage of anything. Want to show an image of someone rising from the dead? AI can fake it. Want to simulate a miracle? No problem. With virtual reality and augmented reality, you could make crowds of people see or hear anything. Combine this with Spiritual Deception, and you’ve got a dangerous cocktail of ‘ILLUSION AND CONTROL.’

• RELIGION. “‘The Antichrist doesn’t just control people politically or economically. He demands WORSHIP.’ And this is where I think AI can also fit in – not just as a tool of oppression, but as a ‘False Source of hope.’ There is a growing fascination with AI as a kind of ‘Savior.’ People talk about it curing diseases, ending poverty, solving climate change, and fixing injustice. Some even believe AI could one day – ‘Yes, even by … 2027’ – become conscious and lead humanity into a New Era of Enlightenment [or Endarkenment]. That’s not just Science Fiction. That’s Spiritual Blindness. Humans are always looking for a ‘Replacement for God.’We want something visible, powerful, and impressive. Something that seems like it has all the answers. AI might just be that [DIGITAL] GOLDEN CALF for our generation.”

• DISCERNMENT. “‘Now, do I believe AI IS the Antichrist? Probably not. Do I think AI will definitely be the Tool that ushers in the Beast System? I don’t know, but it is possible. I do, however, think it’s something To be HIGHLY CAUTIOUS about. And more than that, I think we need to be careful about where we place our HOPE.’ Some Christians are getting a little too excited about AI. They talk about it helping us Preach the Gospel faster or disciple people more efficiently. And yes, it can be a tool for good.”

• CLOSE. “JESUS said in Matthew 24:42, “Therefore, STAY AWAKE [grégoreó (γρηγορεῖτε)-‘arouse watch, remain vigilant!], for you do not know on what day your Lord is coming.” This world is moving fast. The Moral Decay is accelerating. The Systems of Control are being put in place. ‘People [including Christians!] are more spiritually blind than ever.’ We cannot afford to be lazy, distracted, or apathetic. We need to REPENT of our sin, fix our eyes on Jesus, and live like we’re expecting His Return. That means ‘Staying Faithful to His Word.’ That means ‘Loving His [True] Church.’ That means making disciples, serving others, and praying like it all depends on God — because it does. Don’t let the bells and whistles of AI distract you from the Real Battle. Don’t let Technological Progress lull you into thinking this world is getting better. ‘The Truth is, this World is passing away. And the only Kingdom that will stand is the one ruled by Jesus Christ.”’

1. LAST THOUGHTS

MY CONCERN. I have a number of Christian friends, all deeply devoted to the Lord in their own callings, who regularly use AI. A study just reported by NPR Religion Correspondent JASON DEROSE gives me serious pause about this trend. In a piece titled, “Surprising Number of Americans use AI for Spiritual Reasons” (Sep. 28, 2026; edited), this is what was found.

“Artificial Intelligence is becoming a tool not only for work and research but also for exploring questions of Faith and Spirituality, according to a new NPR/Ipsos Poll. Ipsos polled 1,011 U.S. adults from Aug. 7 through Aug. 9 of this year. Overall, 61% of respondents said they have used an Artificial Intelligence tool, such as Google Gemini, ChatGPT, or Claude, for any purpose. ‘The poll found that 11% of AI users have sought Spiritual Guidance from Artificial Intelligence, while 13% have used the technology to Generate Prayers, and 15% say they have used it to Study Scripture.’”

It is very significant to note that – ‘This trend is increasing, not diminishing,’ a Harbinger of the rapid proliferation of AI technology throughout the world. ‘Should that not give us CONCERN, beloved, as it does me?’

As a sidenote, a grateful hat tip to my friend and YouTube subscriber “Anna” for calling me out on my own use of AI for Research Purposes.This preliminary stab at this matter of a terrible and yes, Eschatological Significance, is without question from the King.

TOWARD WISDOM. Here I happily turn to the counsel from two men I admire and love. One is a notable Protestant, the other a notable Catholic, speaking in harmony in a Theological Rapprochement.

Currently serving as Editor-at-Large and Columnist and past Editor-in-Chief of Christianity Today is DR. RUSSELL MOORE, here the author of a provocative essay titled, “All Christians Should Listen to POPE LEO on AI” (May 27, 2026; edited). Here are his THREE MAIN IDEAS.

1. OPEN. In ‘Magnifica Humanitas,’ LEO contends that the accelerating speed of Artificial Intelligence is not just a technological development or a foreseeable economic crisis but a Spiritual and Civilizational Test that forces us to face what it means to be human. And the Danger, the Pope rightly warns, is not so much that Artificial Intelligence will become too Humanlike but that human beings will become more like Machines. The Encyclical argues modern society is increasingly shaped by a ‘Technocratic Paradigm’ that prizes efficiency, control, optimization, and power above human dignity, reducing people to functions and relationships to systems.”

• PATHWAYS. “Using the Biblical contrast between the Tower of Babel and the Rebuilding of Jerusalem under Nehemiah, Leo moves beyond a simplistic dichotomy of ‘Technology Good’ or ‘Technology Bad’ and looks at the TWO PATHS Technology can take—toward ‘Domination, Homogenization, and Dehumanization’ or toward ‘Communion, Solidary, and Rehumanization.’ And he sees what’s really behind the rush toward the POSTHUMAN PATH in which we view weakness, dependence, mystery, and even personhood as problems to engineer away.”
• CLOSE. “‘We are in a BABEL MOMENT now.’ The Problem is not that human beings are capable of creating Artificial Intelligence. ‘The Problem is that we are capable of creating Artificial Intelligence without first asking what it means to be Human Beings.’ We are not even psychologically prepared for the Smartphone and Social Media Age, which is now almost 20 years old. Indeed, that ‘Technological Revolution’ … when compared to where AI is going [leaves us] CONFUSED about How to Live in This Era.’”

PRACTICUM. In this Preliminary Assessment of how Christians ought to use AI Systems (that may change later as we move further down the Rabbit Hole), there are activities that remain comparatively SAFE and those that are patently DANGEROUS. In Sum, This:

‘Christians CAN safely use Artificial Intelligence—a computer system that predicts text and data—for Practical and Administrative Tasks, but they must NEVER use it to replace Human Relationships, Spiritual Guidance, or Moral Choices.’

In order to make the Proper Distinctions, the Follower of Christ must reach a Level of Maturity that relies on the unimpeachable Word of God as led by the Holy Spirit of God toward rich and deep Exploration Toward Wisdom, Truth and the Really Real than ever before possible.

As the Prophet wrote of this Last Days Charge:

“But as for you, Daniel, conceal these words and seal up the scroll until the end of time. Many will go back and forth and search anxiously [through the scroll], and knowledge [of the purpose of God as revealed by His prophets] will [GREATLY] INCREASE.” – DANIEL 12:4, AMP
