NOTES ON THE POWER OF VISION IN THE LAST DAYS & THE TERROR OF ITS ABSENCE: DAVID WILKERSON SPEAKS! – (WITH VIDEO)

THEOLOGY

SCRIPTURE. “Where there is no vision [no redemptive revelation of God], the people perish; but he who keeps the law [of God, which includes that of man]—blessed (happy, fortunate, and enviable) is he.” – PROVERBS 29:18, AMPC

KEY TERM: “VISION.” ‘CHAZON’ [חָ֭זוֹן]: “A dream, oracle, or revelation (a direct sight or experience of God);’ a Divine Communication that guides; an appearance or exhibition of something supernaturally presented to the minds of the Prophets, by which they were informed of future events.” NOTE: “The term ‘chazon’ primarily refers to a Divine Revelation or Vision, often given to Prophets as a means of conveying God’s Message to His people. It encompasses both the act of seeing and the content of what is seen, typically involving Future Events or Divine Truths. In the Hebrew Bible, ‘chazon’ is used to describe the Prophetic Visions received by individuals such as Isaiah, Daniel, and others.”

QUOTATION. “One part of that ‘Divine Fullness’ which is communicated is the Divine Knowledge. That Communicated Knowledge, which must be supposed to pertain to God’s Last End in creating the world, is the creature’s knowledge of HIM. COMMENTARY. “‘Where there is no vision’ — That is, no prophecy, the ‘Prophets’ being anciently called ‘seers;’ no public preaching of God’s Word, called Prophecy, Romans 12:6; 1 Corinthians 14:4, &c. ‘Where the people are destitute of the means of instruction; the people perish’ — Because they want the chief means of salvation; ‘but he that keepeth the Law’ —He does not say, ‘he that hath the law, or he that hath vision,’ which the rules of opposition to the preceding clause might have given us reason to expect he would have said, but ‘he that keepeth it;’to teach us, that although the want of God’s Word may be sufficient for men’s destruction, yet the mere having and hearing, or reading of it, is not sufficient for their salvation, unless they also ‘keep, or obey it!’” – JOSEPH BENSON, Notes on the Holy Bible, 5 vols., 1811-1818; edited

II. TEACHING

In 1973, DAVID WILKERSON received what he believed was A VISION from God, about which he wrote and published in a book by the same name. It consisted of FIVE EVENTS he felt would take place in America and around the world at about the Time of Christ’s Second Advent, and I was reminded of that book as I began this Commentary.

Now let me state clearly that Mr. Wilkerson is not a Prophet, as with the Biblical Prophets that ended with the Apostles. However, there are “Gifts of Prophecy” by which believers can receive ‘inspired’ (but not inerrant) messages from the Lord’s Spirit (cf. Romans 12:6; 1 Corinthians 12:4-11; Ephesians 4:11).

Thus, much of this may sound eerily accurate, while other sections do not. Still, as Wilkerson received this over 50 years ago, I thought it worth the read.

ECONOMIC RECESSION. “‘First of all, a Worldwide Recession caused by economic confusion.’ I saw in my vision at most a few more fat flourishing years and then an Economic Recession that’s going to affect the lifestyle of every wage earner in the world. The world economists are going to be at a loss to explain what’s happening. It’s going to start in Germany, spread to Japan, and finally to the United States. Large and trusted corporations are going to go bankrupt, many churches are going to go into bankruptcy, and some missionary projects are going to flounder. One of the clearest messages I’ve ever received from God in my life is this: Use the next few good years left to prepare for a Financial Crisis. Get your house in order because hard times are coming.”

NATURAL DISASTERS. “‘Number Two, I saw nature having Labor Pains—supernatural signs and changes that can’t be explained by men.’ Worldwide disasters that we’re witnessing right now, I see as labor pains in nature, which are going to become more and more frequent and more intense the closer we get to the Birth of the Kingdom of God. I saw major earthquakes coming to the United States. I saw worldwide famine, especially in China, India, and Russia. I saw the world’s food supplies completely dwindled, millions starving. I saw coming a new kind of Cosmic Storm appearing as a raging fire in the sky, leaving a kind of vapor trail. Tornadoes, hail storms, floods, and hurricanes are going to pound the earth with such intensity and violence that all of Mankind is going to have to admit the world is under Supernatural Siege.”

MORAL DECAY. “‘Number Three, a flood of filth and a baptism of dirt in America.’ America, I see the Prophecy of Nahum coming to pass in the very near future. God said, ‘I’ll pour abominable filth upon you.’ This means triple X-rated movies on cable television after midnight. This means R-rated movies within the next few years on network television. This means our newsstands are going to be flooded with such filth that Playboy magazine will look like a puritanical piece of trash. It means sex education classes in school will be using animated cartoons and filmed dramatized sexual intercourse. Just when it appears there’s going to be a successful campaign against smut, just when the Supreme Court seems to be ruling against pornographers, when it appears the nation’s returning to old-fashioned moral standards, suddenly the floodgates are going to swing open and Satan is going to vomit filth out of Hell, and it’ll be just as it was in the Days of Lot and will vex the souls of God’s most devout saints.”

REBELLION AT HOME. “‘Number Four, rebellion in the home. I see the new number one youth problem in America and the world as hatred toward parents.’ Now, I’m reading this tonight for fear I changed a single word of what I’ve seen and had to write down as the Holy Spirit laid it on my heart. ‘A man’s worst enemies will be those of his own household.’ The Bible says children are going to turn against their parents with a passion. Parents are going to be betrayed and will die a thousand deaths at the hands of children who learned to despise their hypocrisy. There could be millions of stay-at-home runaways who need not go away anymore and run away from home because their parents are going to give them what they choose and what they want as long as they stay home. Kids will not even be expected to communicate with their parents. They’re going to live under the same roof but will be like enemies at war living under a truce. This is the clearest Vision I’ve ever seen in my life. It’s going to be bigger than drug addiction, bigger than sex abuse, or alcohol or any other youth problem. In a recent survey we did of 5,000 kids in 12 major cities, over 45% said, ‘I hate my parents already.’”

PERSECUTION OF BELIEVERS. “‘Number Five, a persecution madness against truly Spirit-filled Christians who love Jesus Christ.’ Now, I don’t have time tonight to go into all the details of these Four Calamities I’ve just mentioned. However, the Holy Spirit has prompted me tonight to go into detail and share with you what I see coming in the way of Persecution. It was Jesus Himself who told us to tarry for a Pentecost. Jesus Himself told us the Holy Ghost would fall upon us. Jesus Himself promised us power from on high. But it was also Jesus Christ Himself who predicted Persecution was coming for all true Spirit-baptized believers. In John 15:13, Jesus said, ‘If you were of the world, the world would love its own, but because you’re not of this world but I have chosen you out of the world, therefore the world will hate you. Remember the word that I said to you: The servant is not greater than his Lord. If they have persecuted me, they will also persecute you. If they have kept my saying, they will keep yours also.’ Here is another one: ‘The brother shall deliver up the brother to death, the father the child. Children will rise up against their parents and cause them to be put to death. You shall be hated of all men for My name’s sake, but he that endures to the end shall be saved. But when they persecute you in this city, flee to another. Because I tell you, you will not have gone over the cities of Israel till the Son of Man comes. The disciple is not above his master, nor the servant above his Lord. It is enough for the disciple that he be as his master.’”

PURPOSE. ‘The Purpose of this Coming Persecution that I see in the Spirit will be to separate and scatter the true believers from the false.’ Time is running out, and the Gospel still has to be preached to all nations before Jesus comes. Now, the Holy Ghost has been poured out upon thousands, but just as in the early Pentecostal outpouring, disciples still sit around singing and rejoicing and sharing only with each other. Among us are still those who talk in tongues and still live like the devil. But He’s going to lay the Axe to the Root. He’s going to separate the Wheat from the Chaff. He’s going to scatter His seed to the far corners of the earth, and God’s Word will be fulfilled. 2 Timothy 3:12: ‘All that will live godly in Christ Jesus shall suffer persecution … Go all the way if you’re going to be a [Spirit filled] Christian. Read it all, accept it all—all, all, all—all that will live godly in Christ Jesus shall suffer Persecution.”

WILKERSON’S DEATH. It saddens and mystifies me to briefly review Mr. Wilkerson’s unlikely death on April 27, 2011, at age 79. Based on several published reports, he and his wife were driving that afternoon when he collided head-on with an 18-wheeler in East Texas. Pronounced dead at the scene, his wife Gwendolyn was seriously injured but survived, though she died a year later, on July 5, 2012, from cancer, at the age of 81.

I was particularly touched by his Last Words from his Final Blog before he died, reported by a writer, “Michael,” in his Blog, ‘A Twisted Crown of Thorns’ on June 19, 2023 (edited).

“Someone has come to the Place of Hopelessness—the end of hope—the end of all means. A loved one is facing death and doctors give no hope. Death seems inevitable. Hope is gone. The miracle prayed for is not happening. To those going through the Valley and Shadow of Death, hear this word:

‘Weeping will last through some dark, awful nights—and in that Darkness you will soon hear the Father whisper, “I am with you. I cannot tell you why right now, but one day it will all make sense. You will see it was all part of My Plan. It was no accident. It was no failure on your part. Hold fast! Let me embrace you in your hour of pain.”

Beloved, God has never failed to act but in goodness and love. When all means fail—His love prevails. Hold fast to your faith! Stand fast in his Word! There is no other hope in this world.’”

What fitting adieu from this great man of God who was not afraid to announce the Harder Catechism, the darker parts of the demands of a Holy God to His people to prepare for the Great Falling Away that would surely come some five decades after The Vision.

It is here now, beloved. Shall we not listen to the Divine Counsels of the Lion of Judah? Surely, we must, lest we perish in our reckless, Narcissistic Indifference midst a Church that is further away from The Christ than in all our history.

III. APPLICATION

So, let us put Mr. Wilkerson’s Prophecies to THE TEST: Were they largely True, or the meanderings of a False Teacher? The following Reality Check is not to be considered Definitive, but only Indicative that Mr. Wilkerson was or was not in the Zone of Reasonable Probability.

RECESSION. “Recession fears for 2025 are fading fast, with market models and economist forecasts signaling a slim chance of economic contraction. But with optimism running high, could markets be misreading the risks? According to the New York Fed’s Recession Model, there is a 29% probability that the U.S. will enter a Recession by the end of 2025. This is a dramatic decline compared to the elevated probabilities seen during the Federal Reserve’s aggressive monetary tightening in 2022 and 2023 … Veteran Wall Street investor Ed Yardeni said ‘Trump’s initial flurry of Executive Orders—expected to include new tariffs and immigration actions—could unsettle markets.’” – PIERO SINGALI, “US 2025 Recession Odds Plummet: Good News or Warning Sign?” Finance Yahoo, Jan. 9, 2025; edited

NATURAL DISASTERS. “‘According to current projections, 2025 is expected to see a significant increase in the frequency and intensity of natural disasters;’ primarily driven by climate change, with potential for more extreme weather events like wildfires, floods, hurricanes, and heatwaves, leading to greater economic and social impacts compared to previous years. Key points about the expected increase in disasters in 2025: Climate Change Impact; Increased Wildfire Risk; Intensified Storms; Flood Potential; Extreme Heat Waves.” – EDITORS, Generative AI Review, ret. MORAL DECAY. “‘America is in a Moral Free Fall.’ Some would even surmise that The End of this great country is near. But is it true? Are we truly in a state of Moral Decline? First, let’s clarify what we mean by ‘Moral Decline.’ People generally think of ‘morals’ as encompassing kindness, honesty, civility, decency, and behaving ethically. Are you with me, so far? A recent survey by Gallup reports that 54% of Americans feel that the moral condition of the country is poor. That’s a record low for the survey. Further, a record 83% think that we are in a state of Rapid Moral Decline. It’s not just the United States. REBELLION AT HOME. “‘In 2025, a growing trend is emerging where young people are choosing to go ‘No Contact’ with their parents, meaning they completely cut off communication and interaction.’ Often due to experiences of emotional abuse, neglect, toxic behavior, or major disagreements regarding personal values like sexuality, politics, or lifestyle choices. This practice is becoming more widely discussed and debated, with some supporting the right to prioritize mental health by distancing from harmful family dynamics, while others criticize it as a sign of a breakdown in traditional family values. PERSECUTION OF BELIEVERS. “‘As his administration battles with Christian leaders over immigration and ICE raids in churches, President Donald Trump pledged Feb. 6 he will “protect” Christians in America.’ ‘While I’m in the White House, we will protect Christians in our schools, in our military, in our government, in our workplaces, hospitals and in our public squares,’ Trump said at the National Prayer Breakfast. ‘And we will bring our country back together as one nation under God’ … He also said he will establish a Presidential Commission on Religious Liberty that ‘will work tirelessly to uphold this most fundamental right.’ And he said he would create a White House Faith Office, led by Paula White, a Pentecostal televangelist who has served as a religious adviser to Trump in the past. DK NOTE. Before I conclude with a few observations in the Final Section, let me say this. Mr. Wingfield’s Review of Persecution of Believers may be completely lost on him, or perhaps, hopefully, not. For me, it is the most chilling section of this entire essay, for reasons I shall specify as we close.

IV. LAST THOUGHTS

It may perhaps legitimately be said that David Wilkerson’s Predictions are so generic that of course they would be easily verified. But after the last ten years of explosive evidence that America and the World are in serious Decline. With just two weeks of President Trump’s Chaotic Second Term, his words take on special gravitas that we must all soberly assess.

MY VIEW. Just a couple of personal remarks about the Wilkerson Prophecies. First, to restate it, he was hardy perfect. But then there are no more Biblical Prophets as in the days of Ancient Israel. Second, however, he was a courageous clarion voice of theological and historical reason in decades past, and he was thoroughly persecuted for it – by his fellow Pastors and Leaders! Third, I believe there is more than enough documentable evidence in this Era of Trump Christianity to validate most of his deep concerns.

As further evidence for his view, I offer the comments cited by Mr. Wingfield’s article from KARLI WALLACE THOMPSON, digital campaign director of Faithful America, who rightly rejected Trump’s plan outright as more political posturing. “Thanks but no

thanks,” she said. “Trump’s proposed task force to eradicate so-called anti-Christian bias is really another mechanism through which he and his disciples can ENFORCE their own brand of Christianity on the rest of us.”

She went on to argue, wrongly in my opinion, that many or most Christians see right through Trump and are his ardent critics. Really? Pray tell, where are they? Who are they? In nearly ten years, save from the more Liberal denominations, I have not heard nary a whisper or whimper from them.

If as I strongly believe that President Donald Trump is in fact “The Man of Sin, the Lawless One” prophesied by both the Old and New Testaments, then true followers of Christ have some major decisions to make about what comes next and how to respond to it. And One Choice in particular that we must all of us make for the immediate future.

JOSHUA WROTE: “If it is unacceptable in your sight to serve the Lord, choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve: whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of the River, or the gods of the Amorites in whose land you live; but as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord” (24:15, AMP).
