PRÉCIS ON THE CALLING OF THE REMNANT IN THE LAST HOURS: RESCUED IN ORDER TO RESCUE!
SCRIPTURE. “Then the guiding angel showed me Joshua the high priest [representing disobedient, sinful Israel] standing before the Angel of the Lord, and Satan standing at Joshua’s right hand to be his adversary
and to accuse him. And the Lord said to Satan, ‘The Lord rebuke you, Satan! Even the Lord, who [now and ever] has chosen Jerusalem, rebuke you! Is this not a log snatched and rescued from the fire?’” – ZECHARIAH 3:1-2, AMP
KEY TERMS:
- “LOG.” ‘UD’ [א֖וּד]: “‘From an unused word meaning, ‘To rake together;’ more specifically, ‘a poker (for turning or gathering embers); a firebrand.’” Also: “To bear witness, to testify, to warn, to admonish; a bent stick to stir the fire.” NOTE: “The Hebrew verb ‘ud’ primarily means ‘to bear witness or to testify.’ It is often used in contexts where a formal declaration or testimony is given, either in a legal setting or as a form of admonition. ‘The word can also imply the act of warning or exhorting someone, often with a sense of urgency or solemnity.’”
- “RESCUED.” ‘NATSAL’ [מֻצָּ֥ל]: “From a primitive root, ‘To deliver, rescue, snatch away, save.’” Also: “To escape without fail; to pluck up [out of the fire or from the hand of another]; to preserve, recover, save.” NOTE: “The Hebrew verb ‘natsal’ primarily conveys the action of delivering or rescuing someone from danger, distress, or oppression. It is often used in contexts where God intervenes to save His people or individuals from peril. The term can also imply a sense of snatching away or plucking out from a harmful situation.”
QUOTATION. “Oh, my brothers and sisters in Christ, if sinners will be damned, at least let them leap to Hell over our bodies; and if they will perish, let them perish with our arms about their knees, imploring them to stay, and not madly to destroy themselves. If Hell must be filled, at least let it be filled in the teeth of our exertions, and let not one go there Unwarned and Unprayed for!” ― CHARLES HADDON SPURGEON, “The Wailing of Risca,” in The Metropolitan Tabernacle Pulpit Sermons, vol. 7, 1861; edited
COMMENTARY. “‘And the Lord said,’ &c. — The Logos, or Son of God, said unto Satan; ‘The Lord’ —Namely, God the Father; ‘rebuke thee!’ —And not suffer thy mischievous imagination against Jerusalem and the Temple to prosper. ‘Even the Lord that hath chosen Jerusalem’ —Who hath chosen that place for His especial residence. Christ, as a Mediator, rather chooses to rebuke the Adversary in His Father’s name than in His own. ‘Is not this a brand plucked out of the fire’ —Is not this Small Remnant returned from Captivity,’ represented here by Joshua, ‘miraculously rescued from utter destruction, like a brand plucked out of the fire? and can it be thought that God will not preserve them?” – JOSEPH BENSON, Notes on the Holy Bible, 5 vols., 1811-1818; edited
DK’S TAKE. I have often heard from many of you over the last few years, “Why did God choose my eyes to be opened? I am no one special, not particularly holy, nor prepared for such honor.” Or words to that effect. Well today, I believe the King is beginning to answer us in such a way that none of us can take any personal pride in it.
- First: There had to be a Common Denominator that unites all of us selected to be members of the Last Days Remnant.
- Second: I believe that Common Thread has to do with our Heart’s Motive; specifically, to want to follow Truth more than anything else.
- Third: However, the Mysterium Tremendum here is that it was God who planted that desire in us in the first place, and He gets all the glory. The Apostle rightly expressed it: “And I know that nothing good lives in me, that is, in my sinful nature. I want to do what is right, but I can’t [with God’s Divine power].” – ROMANS 7:18, NLT
ONE COMMISSION: “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind … [And] you shall love your neighbor as yourself … Go therefore and MAKE DISCIPLES of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age. Amen.” – MATTHEW 22:37-40, 28:19-20, NKJV
Beloved friends of God who aspire to join God’s Remnant as Witnesses in these Last Hours of history as we have known it, there is only ONE PURPOSE under Heaven for the Lord’s having preserved us for the Present Hour:
‘Having been Rescued, to Rescue as many as we can, before Nightfall.’ It is that simple, beloved. Selah.
