PRÉCIS ON THE FEAR OF THE LORD: OBEDIENCE IS STILL A THING

SCRIPTURE. “Behold, the Lord’s eye is upon those who fear Him [who revere and worship Him with awe], who wait for Him and hope in His mercy and loving-kindness, to deliver them from death and keep them alive in famine.” – PSALM 33:18-19, AMPC

KEY TERM: “HOPE.” ‘Yachal’ [יָחַל]: “From a primitive root meaning, ‘To wait;’ i.e., to be patient in holding out hope [in Christ]; to be pained, to tarry, to trust [and thereby ‘to remain faithful,’ hoping in no other Savior]; to cherish a desire of good, with some expectation of obtaining it, or a belief that it is obtainable; to place confidence in; to trust in with confident expectation of [fulfillment].”

QUOTATION. “I wait upon the shade of the Promises of our God even in the heat of the situation. Like, in the shades of Terebinth, even at Mamre Abraham pitched his tent. So, pitch your hopes in the cool shade of Terebinth, even amidst the dusty turmoil of Mamre. Surround yourself with the cool whiff of the Lord’s Word, His Promises which is everlasting to everlasting. Yes, Wait upon the Lord … [In all of this], ‘Obedience, Obedience is a key to success.’ Obedience is a road to happiness. Being faithful in small matters. The Lord looks at your heart, your efforts, doesn’t matter if you fail, a wise man/woman rises back to victory. Obey – that is what the Lord loves. Obey Him in everything. Do it for His glory. ‘For whether you eat or drink, do it for the glory of God’ (1 Corinthians 10:31).” ― HENRIETTA NEWTON MARTIN, Legal Professional & Author, Faith Writers, ret. COMMENTARY. Behold the eye of the Lord,’ &c. — Whosoever therefore would have safety must expect it only from the watchful eye and almighty hand of God. Is upon them that fear him’ —These are the chief objects of His care and favour. Upon them that hope in His mercy’ —That place their hope, and trust, and happiness, not in any creature, but only in God and in His mercy and blessings. To deliver their soul from death’ — That is, their life, when He sees it to be expedient for them: For sometimes it is better for them to die than to live, as both good and bad men have declared; and when it is so, it is known to God, but not to us. And, therefore, the constant accomplishment of this and the like Promises, in a literal sense, is not to be expected nor simply desired, except with ‘Submission’ to God’s wise and gracious will.” – JOSEPH BENSON, Notes on the Holy Bible, 5 vols., 1811-1818; edited

DK. During the several years of my Sojourn with God’s Word since 2017, I have been overwhelmed by a single, massive and priceless doctrinal discovery: That Almighty God demands and rewards, FAITHFULNESS. The reason this is so vital a discovery, is that for decades we have been fed the False Doctrine of the Hyper-Grace Poison. The idea that our salvation is all up to God, and that we have nothing more to do than believe, period.

That the American Pastor continues to preach this uniquely American Heresy, he shall surely lead multitudes to The Abyss, spoon feeding his fold the Pernicious Lie that they need not worry about their salvation. Ever. That it does not matter to God what they do, or what they say, or even what they believe – ‘They still obtain Heaven!’

CHRISTIAN TRUTH. The person who has My commands and keeps them is the one who [really] loves Me; and whoever [really] loves Me will be loved by My Father, and I [too] will love him and will show (reveal, manifest) Myself to him. [I will let Myself be clearly seen by him and make Myself real to him].” – JESUS OF NAZARETH, John 14:21, Amp. Classic Ed., c. 32 AD.

Of this iconic, air-tight Dogma from the mouth of the King Himself, MATTHEW POOLE exegetes these TWO SALVIFIC REQUIREMENTS with the precision of a skilled theological surgeon:

(1). “‘Having Christ’s Commandments and keeping them’ – They must both concur to make a true indication of our love to Christ. It is possible that men may have Christ’s Commandments in their ears, in their notion, in their mouths, and ‘yet not keep them;’ they may hear them, they may ‘know and remember’ them, they may ‘talk’ of them, ‘yet they may not keep them;’ for keeping them denotes ‘universal, diligent and industrious, steady and constant obedience to them!’ And this alone will speak our love to Christ.

(2). And if any man thus declareth his love to Christ, Christ declareth, that both He and His Father will take a pleasure and delight in him to do him good; and he shall not live only under the real benefits of his love to Him, but ‘under the sensible manifestations of it.’ Here is no mention of the Spirit’s coming with the Father and the Son, because the Son dwelleth in us by the Holy Spirit.” – English Annotations on the Holy Bible, 2 vols., 1685 (posthumously); edited

From this we know that in the 17th century at least, Modernist Dilution of the Gospel of Jesus Christ had not yet set in, neither in Great Britain nor in the American Colonies. It is very different today of course, a tragedy of immeasurable proportion in the American Church. And Ground Zero as explanation of why the largely White Evangelical Community has gone nearly wholesale into the False Teaching of Christian Nationalism.

CODA. So let the people of God decide once and for all as we watch the Historic Sunset descend upon us all: ‘Choose now whom you shall serve: The gods of this world, or Jesus Christ.’ There is no middle ground, beloved. There never has been.
