WHAT GOD WANTS: NOTES ON AMERICA’S LAST LIGHT IN 2023
SCRIPTURE. “They cried out to the Lord, saying, ‘We have sinned because we have abandoned (rejected) the Lord and have served the Baals and the Ashtaroth; but now rescue us from the hands of our enemies, and we will serve You.’” – 1 SAMUEL 12:10, AMP
KEY WORDS: Cried; Abandoned; Served; Rescue
QUOTATIONS
MILTON. “Though all the winds of Doctrine were let loose to play upon the earth, so Truth be in the field, we do injuriously by licensing and prohibiting to misdoubt her strength. Let her and Falsehood grapple; who ever knew Truth put to the worse, in a free and open encounter.” ― John Milton, ‘Areopagitica: A Speech of Mr. John Milton for the Liberty of Unlicenc’d Printing, to the Parlament of England, 1644; edited
BRONTË. “[Shirley to Robert] Your god, Sir, is the World. In my eyes, you, too, if not an Infidel, are an Idolater. I conceive that you ignorantly worship: In all things you appear to me too superstitious. Sir, your god, your great Bel, your fish-tailed Dagon, rises before me as a demon. You, and such as you, have raised him to a throne, put on him a crown, given him a sceptre. Behold how hideously he governs! … All that surrounds him hastens to decay: all declines and degenerates under his sceptre. Your god is a masked Death.” ― Charlotte Brontë, ‘Shirley,’ 1849; edited
PIPPERT. “Whatever controls us is our Lord. The person who seeks power is controlled by power. The person who seeks acceptance is controlled by acceptance. We do not control ourselves. We are controlled by the Lord of our lives.” ― Rebecca Pippert, ‘Out of the Saltshaker and Into the World,’ 1979
- FIRST THOUGHTS
We human beings are a ‘fickle’ bunch. NOAH WEBSTER (1828) defined this captivating term perfectly: “Wavering; inconstant; unstable; of a changeable mind; irresolute; not firm in opinion or purpose; capricious.” And we have been this way since the Great Fall in the Garden millennia ago.
Mankind has continued to demonstrate the incalculably dangerous habit of going after all things that glitter and sparkle and attract our attention. This is especially true in the Arena of Ideas, or what the Scriptures call: “The philosophies of men,” which are as numerous as the stars in the heavens.
PAUL THE APOSTLE wrote sharply about this in his strong warnings to followers of Christ in his day.
“See to it that no one carries you off as spoil or makes you yourselves captive by his so-called philosophy and intellectualism and vain deceit (idle fancies and plain nonsense), following human tradition (men’s ideas of the material rather than the spiritual world), just crude notions following the rudimentary and elemental teachings of the universe and disregarding [the teachings of] Christ (the Messiah).” – COLOSSIANS 2:8, AMPC
This strong pull away from the Truth would become all but irresistible to the mass of Christians during what the Prophets and Jesus and the Apostles refer to as “The Last Days.” So much so, that this brief period of time at the very End of History would be accurately labeled:
“The Great Falling Away from the Faith.” – cf. Mt. 24:10-13; 2 Thess. 2:3; 1 Tim. 4:1
While I never believed I would see it in my own lifetime, we see that it is incontrovertibly taking place all around us and accelerating by the very day. God told us how and why it would happen.
SELF-DELUSION. Most Christians of course don’t believe for one minute that they are capable of such Apostasy and Betrayal of Christ and Canon, since they have been taught forever that they are saved for Eternity no matter what. No matter their lifestyle. No matter their worldview. No matter their speech. No matter how grave and sustained their sins are.
They are, as the American catch phrase loves to put it, “Good to go!”
The Apostle describes why this catastrophic misapprehension of the Times and the Doctrines, though we hear almost nothing of it from our Pulpits today.
“And then the lawless one will be revealed, whom the Lord will consume with the breath of His mouth and destroy with the brightness of His coming. The coming of the lawless one is according to the working of Satan, with all power, signs, and lying wonders, and with all unrighteous deception among those who perish, because they did not receive the love of the truth, that they might be saved. And for this reason God will send them strong delusion, that they should believe the lie, ‘that they all may be condemned who did not believe the truth but had pleasure in unrighteousness.’” – 2 THESSALONIANS 2:8-12, NKJV
CHARLES ELLICOTT. “‘And for this cause’ — i.e., ‘because they did not care whether things were true or not’ … because they had not cared for Truth, therefore the presence of the Man of Sin, which could not even imperil the truth-lovers, would for them be full of special marvels and frauds by which they might be misled. Here is set forth the effect upon their own selves of refusing to accept God’s gift of love of truth: ‘God takes from them (by His Natural Law) their power of discerning the true from the false, and thus (as it were) actually deceives them’ …
‘Who believed not the truth’ — Once more the offence for which they are condemned is insisted upon. Theirs is no fancy sin. WHAT GOD WANTED them to believe was not some fantastical dogma, some fiction between which and the fictions of the Man of Sin there was nothing morally to choose, but the inviolable Truth by which God Himself is bound. ‘But had pleasure in unrighteousness’ (so runs the Greek): i.e., consciously gave their moral consent to the unrighteousness of 2 Thessalonians 2:10, the unrighteousness which sought to impose itself upon them, and which they would never have been led into had they loved the Truth.” – ‘An Old and New Testament Commentary for English Readers,’ 1878, 1897; edited
Perhaps now it is clearer to you than before why I constantly repeat the phrase: ‘The Truth, the whole Truth, and nothing but the Truth, so help me God.’ Beloved, our very lives, both temporal and eternal, depend on the Truth and living the Truth!

- AMERICA’S SEVEN DEADLY SINS
Countless writers, including myself, have been warning for decades and even more so in just the last few years that America has fallen desperately off its historic moral and political course. It is inarguable at this point, but let me add just a few more logs to the fire that seems to be burning out of control, whipped by the winds of False Ideas everywhere.
DR. BRUCE ASHFORD, author and professor of theology and culture at Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary where he also serves as provost and dean of the faculty, has penned a superb Commentary describing the Spiritual Poison we are currently swallowing by the oceans full these days. – Blog, July 30, 2022; edited
Please consider his thoughtful remarks about SEVEN SINS that are literally killing us.
- “PRIDE is the deepest type of rebellion and the sin at the root of all other sins. When we are proud, in the Biblical sense of the word, ‘we deify ourselves.’ We place ourselves at the Center of the Universe, making us more important than God or our fellow citizens. In the political arena, our Pride manifests itself in our well-honed ability to spot the sins of people on the other side of the aisle, contrasted with our inability or unwillingness to see our own sins or the sins of our chosen political tribe. When confronted with the wrongs or weaknesses in ourselves or our political tribe, we change the subject or shift the blame, just as our favorite radio show hosts and cable news pundits have taught us.”
- “GREED is the vice that causes us to value created things more than the God who created them. When we are greedy, ‘we try to accumulate more ‘stuff’ for ourselves,’ thinking that ‘shiny things’ such as wealth or power will help us deal with the disappointments and sadness of our broken world. In the political realm, we manifest Greed when we engage in politics not for the common good but for our own enrichment. That often leads us to sin in other ways, such as cheating, lying, colluding, and becoming obnoxious bullies determined to score political points. A greedy politician is one whose goal is not to help our nation but to appear that he is helping our nation while he is really only helping himself. A greedy policy wonk is one who wants a job at a think tank, but doesn’t really care about the people her policies are supposed to help. A greedy opinion writer is one who wants to gain a large following but doesn’t really care about the Truth.”
- “ENVY is ‘sorrow occasioned by another person’s happiness.’ Envy wishes to push the other person off the path of success or happiness. It is lethal to joy because gratitude is the root of joy, and Envy refuses to be grateful. An envious society is one that allows for, and even encourages, its citizens to resent those who are more successful than they. It is a society whose members imagine themselves entitled to every success and every good thing. In politics, Envy causes politicians, opinion writers, and party members to cringe at the success of others. It causes talk show hosts, opinion writers, and everyday citizens to slander and degrade decent people on the other side of the aisle, even while defending badness on our own side of the aisle.”
- “WRATH is ‘ill-motivated and misdirected anger.’Not all anger is bad. God exhibits a righteous anger, and so can His people. But unrighteous anger leads to hatred. It is self-righteous and judgmental, focusing on the other person’s sin to the exclusion of one’s own. A society characterized by Wrath is one that, for example, wages wars of vengeance without recourse to principles of justice. Similarly, a wrathful society is one whose public discourse is pervasively uncivil, whose citizens treat one another with disdain and disrespect. A wrathful society is one whose citizens—including its Christian citizens—express uninhibited rage in their Facebook updates, Twitter conversations, website comments and email forwards. A wrathful society is one whose prime-time political pundits behave like juvenile delinquents, shouting, insulting, and interrupting one another, and whose prime-time audiences reward the pundits by continuing to watch their rude and inane shows.”
- “SLOTH is ‘spiritual apathy.’ It undercuts our desire for God and our interest in Him. Ironically, Sloth often causes us to engage in frenzied activity, primarily as a distraction from our spiritual emptiness. A slothful society does not create space for silence and solitude, because its members are terrified that upon resting, they would find that the hole it their heart is so gaping, that God alone could fill it. A slothful society is one whose citizens engage in frenzied political activism, thinking that its activism will save the nation and fill the gaping hole in its collective spiritual heart.”
- “LUST is ‘the desire to exercise one’s sexual passion with a person other than one’s spouse.’ It commandeers the heart and the mind, driving our blind eyes down the path of death (Prov. 7:22-27). A lustful society makes sexual pleasure its ultimate freedom and its functional savior. Its citizens not only sin brazenly, but applaud others when they do the same. Its TV networks choose their political talking heads based upon physical appearance more than analytical abilities, and its TV audience confirms the networks’ choice by continuing to watch. A lustful society engages in extraordinary feats of moral gymnastics to secure social, cultural, legal, and political approval for their sexual activities and, significantly, to secure the right to terminate the unborn child that might result from those activities.”
- “GLUTTONY is ‘the inordinate and indiscrete enjoyment of bodily things.’ Medieval theologians noted that Gluttony is revealed when we enjoy bodily things hastily, sumptuously (demanding the richest foods), excessively (consuming more than I reasonably need), greedily (I want the food I want when I want it), and daintily (my meal must be perfectly prepared). Gluttonous politicians are enamored with the perks of Capitol Hill but give little thought to the citizens who elected them. Gluttonous citizens on the Left live luxurious lives with no real concern for the poor; they appease their own guilt by speaking loudly about government-coerced wealth redistribution while contributing little or none of their own income to charities. Gluttonous citizens on the Right live luxurious lives with no real concern for the poor; we appease our guilt by saying that wealth redistribution is bad for society and that mediating institutions should help the poor, all the while giving little or nothing of our income or energy to those institutions.”
ASHFORD’S CONCLUSION. “Given the toxic nature of contemporary American politics and public life, ‘Christian Virtue will appear strangely “off-kilter” in the public square.’”
And I quickly add: The Reason for this Pollution of the Public Square is directly traceable to the rampant Pollution of the American Church! This is inseparable from the recent emergence of a generation of what the Bible calls, “Blind Guides” who have too afraid or too proud to confront The Infection.
I absolutely love this brilliant man’s analysis because it leads us to a much clearer understanding of our current Spiritual and Political climate. I also greatly appreciate the fact that he indicts both the Left and the Right, leaving no one outside the purview of his penetrating indictment.
And I love this essay because it draws the true picture of the United States of America in 2023 in stunning and tragic contrast to ‘The Way We Were,’ borrowing shamelessly from a schmaltzy 1973 movie that romanticized, by allegorical extension, our past.
All of which culminates in American Christianity’s filthy contemporary War Cry: “Make America Great Again!”
- THE TEACHING
SCRIPTURE. “They cried out to the Lord, saying, ‘We have sinned because we have abandoned (rejected) the Lord and have served the Baals and the Ashtaroth; but now rescue us from the hands of our enemies, and we will serve You.’” – 1 SAMUEL 12:10, AMP
THE CONTEXT. Fitting to our opening comments about humanity’s overwhelming preference for Fickleness, we see Israel daring once again to cry out for ‘Mercy!’ following still another Insurrection against God. Disregarding their own treachery (sound familiar?), they frantically run to Samuel for help, whom they had earlier castigated as being an insufficient ruler, brazenly asking for another ruler.
“Then all the elders of Israel gathered together and came to Samuel at Ramah, and said to him, ‘Look, you are old, and your sons do not walk in your ways. Now make us a king to judge us like all the nations.’” – 1 SAMUEL 8:4-5, NKJV
Yahweh’s brokenhearted response was quick: “And the Lord said to Samuel, ‘Heed the voice of the people in all that they say to you; ‘for they have not rejected you, but they have rejected Me,’ that I should not reign over them” (V. 7).
WHAT GOD WANTS. Now, finally, to the MAIN IDEAS that define from this tragic occasion what the Lord desired of Israel some 3,000 years ago – and what He still desires from an Apostate America at the very End of History. And, at the very End of Divine Patience for a deeply unfaithful Nation and Church.
- CRIED. Taken from the Hebrew term, ‘ Zaaq’ [זָעַק]: “From a primary word meaning, ‘to shriek’ (from anguish or danger); make a loud cry as a herald to come together as a company in time of need; to utter sounds of horror, distress, sorrow or alarm; to issue a summons for help; to cry out to God [for rescue].”
- FORSAKEN. Defined by the word, ‘Azab’ [עָזַב]: “A primary reference to ‘self;’ to leave, become remote; to depart or fully abandon; ‘apostatizing;’ quit or leave entirely; to relinquish; neglect or put aside; to follow after idols, as with spiritual adultery; to desert, renounce, or reject; withdraw from [resulting in God’s withdrawal of His aid, or the Light of His countenance].”
- SERVED. Here we have the specific Confession of Sin, from the term, ‘Abad’ [עָבַד]: “To work, enslave, keep in bondage; become husbandman [solicitor, procurer, ‘pimp’ for demonic forces]; to service or provide service for; ‘perform an act of worship’ [as with spiritual adultery]; become a vassal; become a subject of, allegiant to; cultivate.”
- RESCUE. Now the passionate request takes specific form in the Hebrew word, ‘Natsal’ [נָצַל]: “To strip, plunder, deliver oneself, be delivered, deliver; from a primary root meaning ‘to snatch away;’ to pluck up or out of (the fire); recover [as in a rescue operation]; to keep from the hand of one’s enemies; to free; to release, as from restraint; to set at liberty; as, to deliver one from captivity.”
COMMENTARY. “‘And they cried unto the Lord.’ — As soon as they were convinced of their sin and rebellion, and accused themselves, and returned to their old allegiance, their invisible King, ever full of pity and tender compassion, forgave them, and sent them quick deliverance.
‘And have served Baalim and Ashtaroth.’ — Baal and Ashtaroth were the well-known leading Phœnician deities [originated in Babylon under Nimrod who supposedly controlled weather and storms, and sexuality and fertility, respectively]; the worship, with most of its details, was imported probably from Carthage, the great Phœnician centre. The Temple of Baal-shemesh, the Sun god, at Carthage, was renowned in that luxurious and splendid city. Baal and Ashtaroth, the Greek Astarté, were probably originally worshipped simply as the sun and moon. The plural form refers to the various personifications and different titles of the god and goddess.” – CHARLES ELLICOTT, An Old and New Testament Commentary for English Readers, 1878, 1897; edited
RETURN TO BABYLON. Now please recall the teachings of DAVID WILKERSON and a few others including myself, who posit that America is rapidly descending into the lower reaches of becoming an ‘American Babylon’ spoken of by the Prophets, the Apostle John, and Christ Himself. – cf. Isa. 47:1 Pet. 5:13; Rev. 17:1-18, 18:1-24
To Restate: “‘At the very least, America has the spirit of Babylon the Great,’ and that is enough for me to have grave concern for our country’s future. What’s worse, the main cause of this spirit, in my mind, is the failure of the American Church.’ The Body of Christ has made the downward progression from being the driving force at our Nation’s Founding to being (spiritually) anemic and lazy pew sitters who don’t live different from the country’s non-believing population. We’ve turned a blind eye to sin and actually built our ‘faith’ around self-indulgence, believing that God owes us whatever we ask. We desperately need repentance and revival, but at this point, it will likely only occur after the country “has been brought to ruin” (Rev.18:17). I’m sorry for such a dreary outlook, but a Holy and Righteous God will not be mocked by a nation whose bedrock was to fear and obey Him, but now no longer does.” – JOSEPH’S PERSPECTIVE, “Is America ‘Babylon the Great?’” ‘Feed the Hunger,’ Sep. 16, 2015; edited
- LAST THOUGHTS
CHURCH ARROGANCE. I have been hammering away for years now with increased vehemence at the critical need for the American Church to Repent of its heinous sins. Indeed, the Seven Deadly Sins brilliantly chronicled by Dr. Ashford earlier, reminds insightfully that the Garden’s First Sin – PRIDE – is America’s Primal Failure today.
Seminarian and Greek scholar DR. DARYL BURLING has penned an excellent précis on this matter entitled, “Five Reasons Why Pride Comes Before the Fall” in his Blog (ret. Jan. 3, 2023; edited). Consider this in the context of an AMERICA IN FREEFALL for all the reasons I have written about for the past two years and more.
- Pride comes before the fall because God hates Pride. “There are things that God enjoys and things that He doesn’t enjoy. In the category of things that God doesn’t take pleasure in is pride or arrogance. In Proverbs 6:16-17 we read, ‘There are six things which the LORD hates, Yes, seven which are an abomination to Him. Haughty eyes’ … Significantly, the first in the list is, ‘Haughty eyes.’ The word translated ‘haughty’ simply means high, and has the idea of self-exaltation over another person. [The point is], God can’t love everyone and be a good God. Many are tempted to think of God as all loving, but there are many things that He hates. In fact, God would not be good if He did not hate things. The things that God hates are the things we would do well to avoid and to develop a hatred of when we see it in ourselves.”
- Pride comes before the fall because it is sin. “Hebrew poetry employs Parallelism to make its point. We find this parallelism in almost every proverb. Proverbs 21:4 is no exception. ‘Haughty eyes and a proud heart, the lamp of the wicked, is sin.’ This verse has [two] layers of Parallelism. First there is a parallelism between ‘haughty eyes’ and ‘a proud heart.’ The first depicts the outward aspect of Pride, and the second speaks of what is going on inside the person. In other words, Pride is all-consuming. It determines how we view ourselves and how we view the world. Because it is rooted in the heart, it flows into every aspect of our life (Proverbs 4:23).
But there is a second layer of parallelism here … Pride or Arrogance sets its hope on ‘personal exaltation.’ This hope (or even expectation) is entirely self-centered and is in itself a fruitless sin. Therefore, because sin cannot endure, and because the Lord will one day remove all sin, pride comes before The Fall.”
- Pride comes before the fall because it demeans others. “We’ve seen in the previous reasons that Pride comes before the fall in an ultimate sense – God will one day eliminate sin and humble the proud. However, it is also true that Pride comes before the fall even in our day to day lives. We’ve already seen that we are to watch over our hearts for from it flows the springs of life (Proverbs 4:23). Jesus said much the same, that out of the heart comes all our sin (Mark 7:20-23). Therefore, it should be no surprise that one who is proud in heart, will act a certain way. Others see our Pride, and they label it, and us accordingly. The words used in this proverb indicate that our pride is aggressive toward others … The proud person exalts themselves over others, and this leads to social failure. Pride comes before the fall because our proud heart leads us to act accordingly, demeaning others. The result is that they label us according to our words and actions.
- Pride comes before the fall because it leads to dishonor. The way we speak and act affect those around us. We’ve seen that people will label us, but the word of God also tells us that wearing a label is not the ultimate end. We read in Proverbs 11:2, ‘When pride comes, then comes dishonor, but with the humble is wisdom.’ The idea behind Pride here is presumptuousness or over-confidence. It speaks of those who have to have everything their own way and who have an exaggerated opinion of themselves that does not correspond with what others think. This proverb, again using Parallelism, teaches that this disconnect between the social reality and the internal beliefs leads to dishonor. The dishonor here is a form of social failure. Proud people fail to honor the authority that the Lord has instituted. Not only civil authority, but even much finer authority structures based on wisdom, age, knowledge, etc. The proud person exalts themselves over others, and this leads to social failure. This social failure has a catastrophic impact because it results in dishonor.”
- Pride comes before the fall because it creates strife. “Not only does pride result in being labeled as a proud person, or a scoffer, neither does it stop at dishonor. There is another stage – strife or discord. ‘An arrogant man stirs up strife, but he who trusts in the Lord will prosper’ (Proverbs 28:25). This verse uses a Hebrew phrase that means “wide of appetite,” which in the NASB is translated as “arrogant” though in most translations it is translated as “greedy” or similar. But behind the appetite is a heart that has little regard for others and a sense of personal entitlement. The heart of the proud person believes that they should have certain things. It could be respect, or success, or love, or affection, or honor, or attention. Entitlement exists regardless of social or financial status because it comes from a proud heart. Whatever they want, they are not content with what they have and become disruptive and destructive … Relationships are destroyed. Personal property is destroyed. Families are destroyed. Churches are destroyed. Wealth is destroyed. Businesses are destroyed.” Selah.
THE SOLUTION: HUMILITY. Biblical Humility may well be the most misunderstood and definitionally tortured concept in the entire world. After spending most of my adult and Christian life trying to be ‘lowly and quiet and timid’ with little spiritual fruit borne from it, I finally got my head around the true Greek rendering of this important concept, by a lexicological tag-team of renown Greek scholar SPIROS ZODHIATES and the reasonably intelligent, ARISTOTLE.
- PRAUTÉS. “[A]ccording to Aristotle, prautés is the middle standing between two extremes, getting angry without reason and not getting angry at all. It is the result of a strong man’s choice to control his reactions in submission to God. ‘It is a balance born in strength of character,’ stemming from confident trust in God, not from weakness or fear.”
- CHARACTER. In perfect linguistic accord with this powerful definition is a succinct but universally honored Maxim from another Greek scholar named HERACLITUS OF EPHESUS. Known throughout the realm as “The Weeping Philosopher,” he wrote this in his classic Fragments dated to around 500 BC: Character is destiny.” According to our two Greek scholars, is the very Center of Humility as it is properly understood in both the Greek language and sound Biblical theology.
DK’S TAKE. In 1958 EUGENE BURDICK and WILLIAM LEDERER published an explosive bestseller called, ‘The Ugly American.’ It set the world on fire with its controversial thesis, long held just beneath the surface of international relations but released to the full view of the planet by these authors.
“The book describes the United States’ losing struggle against Communism because of the ineptitude and the bungling of the U.S. diplomatic corps ‘stemming from innate arrogance’ and their [subsequent] failure to understand the local culture.” – Wikipedia, Oct. 19, 2022; edited
I recall sitting down to dinner in 2019 with my former pastor from California who had just returned from 17 years of ministry in Germany. As we got reacquainted through introductory small talk, I will never forget his First Question to me with a horrified expression on his face: “Cliff, what has happened to America?” This a painful reflection that Americans had, in the eyes of most of his European friends, fallen into the gutter under DONALD TRUMP.
A telling piece from Forbes magazine by journalist SHELLIE KARABELL entitled, “Donald Trump: The New Ugly American?” (Jan. 8, 2018), captured the toxic reputation America has earned after both the Political Nation and the Church gave him permission to make us Ugly again.
“‘The Ugly American’ – a phrase made famous by the 1958 political novel about U.S. policy in Southeast Asia by Eugene Burdick and William Lederer – can no longer refer just to the prototypical loud, ignorant American. Today the title has taken on a real human face, and that is the face of Donald Trump.”
THE SPEAKER DEBACLE. And lest you believe that Mr. Trump, has far too much political capital in America, need go no further than his filthy legacy being played out on the floor of the United States Congress as it fails time after time to choose a House Speaker. Make no mistake beloved, this is Donald Trump’s work, though I have no time nor space here to go into the details.
Suffice to say that the towering irony here is that America is in Cascading Moral Freefall at the very same time we scream louder and louder for Trump or anyone for that matter to: “Make America Great Again!”
Quoting the eminent theologian JOHN STOTT at one point, C.S. LEWIS summarized all this by writing: “Pride is your greatest enemy, humility is your greatest friend.” To these closing remarks.
THE CRISIS. The United States of America is in her death throes overwhelmingly due to multiple levels of internal corruption across virtually ALL our institutions including both Politics and Religion. The center of which is Pride and Arrogance and Hubris unseen in human history since the Roman Empire.
The ludicrous Center of this Crisis of Character is the Church’s hypocritical desire for Grace on the one hand, while demanding ‘a New King’ on the other – just as the Jews did thousands of years ago.
They got their Saul. And we, beloved, are about to get ours – just so long as he can make us “Great” just one more time.
I promise you on the twin strengths of both Theology and History, unless we change our entire Raison d’etre from making ‘Us’ great again to making ‘God’ great again in the hearts of the people, we shall surely plunge over the Final Precipice as God’s Last Light grows dim.
It is up to us more than Him. Selah.
